@bitchniggaspussy You clearly don't know much about the Tigers. Either that, or don't watch a lot of games. He might not be the best pitcher ever, but Verlander is certainly not ALL we have. And Porcello is not NOTHING. Geez.
Porcello blows. Can't locate his fastball, can't change speeds. Leaves everything on the fat part of the bat. He is going to bounce around in the majors and minors for another 5 years and then he be out of baseball.
Rick should get back into his HS (Phenom) form after coming back up from AAA. Rick is the main reason why the Tigers gave up Jair Jurrjens and Gorkys Hernandez to the Braves. Thanks Rick for signing with the Tigers. Go Columbia High Cougars (Maplewood, NJ)
I am so Happy he is a Detroit Tigers player now. he is in the hall of fame for the Tigers tuesday night game being the first pitcher to win 12 games since 1977.
secondly you all need to figure out what a perfect game is.. a pitcher with no walks and hits allowed can still NOT throw a perfect game.. your forgetting about hit by pitches, and errors.. a perfect game is when you retire or get out every batter you face and anyway fo,go,k.
yea well there olny loss was to morris hills my team we beat them 2-0 good game i no rick good kid i used to play wit him in the alllstars has an hell of an arm ill tell u dat much
this is a perfect game?? what are you guys talking about?? the news guy said he set down 21 consecutive batters?? he didnt say anything about walks or hits
Well he was the #1 pitcher on The #1 ranked high school team in the United States at the time and he pitched a perfect game so it was newsworthy in North Jersey anyway.
no it's not all strike outs.. you can throw a perfect game with no strike outs.. a perfect game is no hits and no walks which is not allowing anyone on base.. just for your information
I've played against plenty of kids as big as him in my life, and not one of them could throw the ball in the mid 90's. He's special, not just a man among boys.
You have a point, it's true that bigger kids always have an advantage in sports even if they aren't as skilled as somebody smaller, but you have to remember this is baseball we're talking about. A person who is 5'5 weighing 100 pounds could have have the fastest pitch in the world. It's all about how fast your muscles react to your brains signals to throw the ball, size doesn't really have an advantage.
I batted against Porcello twice last year for Mount Olive
He shut us down the first game but we came within a hit of beating him n Seton Hall but lost 6-5 (had the bases loaded with 2 outs in the 7th)
He deserved to be ranked so high but their team was not the #1 team in the country. I find it hard to believe our team came that close to beating the #1 team
I watched this guy pitch a few weeks ago in spring training against the pirates.Yes,he pitched against the lowly Pirates but this kid is gonna be really good.He pitched 2 innings and shut them down.I cant wait till this guy comes to the majors.I'm not a Tigers fan but to see someone with this talent is awesome.
listen you think this bastard has a fast fastball type dellin betances then go to richardhernandez then go to his video call pitching then you will see fast and comment pls
wow... just wait til the tigers when this kid gets call up to the MLB and then become a full-time starter for the tigers... godamn, miguel cabrera, dwillis, ordonez, etc. etc. :O
Actually I was born in 1985 and didn't move to Massachusetts until about 11 years ago. So fine call me a bandwagon fan. I really find that whole concept ridiculous unless of course your a Tampa Bay Rays fan.
FUCK! The fucking Tigers got him and im a HUGE yankees fan but we got a guy named Andrew Brackman. all i know bout that guy is he throws a 97 mph fastball with change, slider and a kuckle curve
Don't be misguided by this video. This is about the only high school baseball coverage you'll get on a local NY newscast. This was a special case because 1) Rick Porcello is one of the top high school baseball players in the United States 2)Threw a perfect game 3)playes for the #1 nationally ranked Seton Hall Prep. If you think high school baseball is covered on a daily bases here in the states, you've been misled.
@bitchniggaspussy You clearly don't know much about the Tigers. Either that, or don't watch a lot of games. He might not be the best pitcher ever, but Verlander is certainly not ALL we have. And Porcello is not NOTHING. Geez.

Rick Porcello has proved himself as one of the most promising pitchers in MLB.

He's going to be the next big superstar pitcher of the MLB and Tigers got him.

And who knows, Rick may do the same thing at the Major League level soon.
Going out on a limb here: Rick Porcello will no-hit someone if not a major league perfect game before the 2012 season is completed.
