"Nam Myoho Renge Kyo" - is one of the most important chants for Buddhists. I think it has a lot to do with alleviating suffering (which is a safe guess because that's pretty much the goal of all buddhist teachings). When I found that out I gained yet another level of appreciation for Damien Rice's music.
