@GrammarKing1 heeling a bet is like @ 1:55 the bet was 900 so he gave him 1 purple (500) and 4 black instead of 9 black, so he heels the bet so that the floor can see how much is being paid., and clearing hands is when a dealer is entering, leaving a game, or when he touches any part of the body to show that they have nothing in their hands

@BionicleArm2 You're big on rhetoric yet so bland with originality. I had a hard time believing you were actually a student at first (based on your grammar & spelling) but then I got to thinking about the failure of the education system & realized you fit right in.

Wow this hwy418 seems like a douche. Anyways it is proper to heel off the bets after proving the amount. So it is hardly improper as you say. Perhaps in your casino it is not proper but it is not some universal blackjack rule that you can't heel the pay off. Nonetheless blackjack is a simple game to deal. The real skills come into play with Dice.
@matt4787 Well when you get some real skills, please do share. I see over a mil on the layout any given night and deal with 100,000 chips regulary. How about you?
@Hwy418 Am I supposed to be impressed? Oh wow you deal with $100,000 cheques. Whoopi freaking dooo.... It is still Blackjack. Not like its harder to deal with 100,000 dollar cheques out there. A chip is a chip. You either properly paid someone or you didn't.
@TheTrueGamble Dealing craps is awesome. When you get a good game fired up, it's the most exciting game in the house to be dealing. If your math skills are no good it's not for you. If you're strong or can learn to be, you're all set.
1:56 - You NEVER heel chips on a blackjack table. In fact, craps is the only game where a 'heel' is preferred. I think this guy was a craps dealer who became a supervisor and now teaches. I can tell that this man has never had any real experience just by his lack of terminology and questionable procedures. In any case, he's got a lot to learn.
@kahnesbabe You're probably the only state in America that does it. Standard procedure, that's a laugh. Who's your GM, Barney Fife? Viva Las Vegas, baby. I work on The Strip & here we do things right.
@Hwy418 I'll guess, many casinos are different. But, once I prove it in my work area, I can just heel it. I see other comments accessing this fact. By the way... Vegas or not...it's all the same. I work with many ex Vegas dealers. It's nice to know they aren't vain..like you. :-)
@kahnesbabe Ha ha EX VEGAS dealers in PA? That's a laugh in itself. Obviously they're break ins or worked at a break in joint. As far as being vain, I think you need to look up the definition since I was describing LAS VEGAS not myself you idiot. The casinos in PA are a joke, everyone knows it. The joints might be profitable but the personnel are inadequate, incompetent or inexperienced enough to make such judgements against Las Vegas. So, enjoy your piddly $60,000 a year you make......
@drewpeacock89 thats only for just in case the player puts over table max.. he is only allowed to win $1000 if its over that he gets the extra back, so if he has 1400 up if he wins hes only getting 1000 or if he loses he will only lose 1000,
hmmm, now i know why it's titled 'how NOT to deal blackjack' . definitely unacceptable procedures. no game protection at all. not even the basic clear hands
Also, its nice after youve proven a stack to run it back up in steps of 4 or 5 depending on denomination. To be honest I have to say UK are better croupiers.
OMG!!You're paying from the float straight to the bet without proving the payout in working area.Change the trainer, guys.Get a professional trainer....Geez!!!
you're gunna sizecut most payouts to be honest, if someones playing ponies or stacks of fives, pissing about checking every hand is only gunna slow the game down, and when someones playing at that amount, thats the last thing you want,
mostly checks are for stupid sidebets or awkward blackjacks.
never been to Mohegan Sun although i hear its a nice casino. i do however know FoxWoods quite well... one of these days i will make a trip to MoheganSun
Did u know where the word lump originated from for new blackjack dealers?
Its kind of funny and true, it got started from new dealers that would deal a single deck pitch game and they would be so nervous that they would lump up the cards, therefore they are lumps :)
Wrong and Wrong, it's Lumpies and it wasn't from pinching cards, it was from inspecting cards that are stacked and interlocked after a shuffle for inspection, from the riffle part of the shuffle the cards arn't completly riffled, there are big gaps in the cards. Riffle a deck, dont push it together after the riffle and look at the sides, your'll see what I mean :p
Not going to comment on the politics of it all, as I don't understand it myself. However, there are/where large numbers of temp. work visas issued in resort areas all over the US.
They probably bring them over and pay them less than U.S. workers, Working for Casinos sucks these days, they keep everyone part time to avoid paying for health care, 401k, vacation ,etc. Profiting like crazy at the workers expense, that's the Corporate way in the Casino industry.
Interesting seeing an American style croup school learn BJ. Burswood in W.A. are more strict with sitting down, When croupiers are working They are standing, so they should get used to it from day 1. I had to laugh when I heard the word lumpies, I would love to know what state this comment came from, as I am formiliure with the term lumpies.
well, u dunn need to call supervisor b4 u deal, if its over limit u tell the player that " its over table limit " that's it this guy doesn't even know anyshit.
lol, very true, procedures very a lot from casino to casino. I just recently became a blackjack dealer in San Diego and we have 3 casinos here and procedures are different in each one.
Having watched a few vids it's AMAZING how much procedures vary. And between US casinos and ones in the UK (where rules/procedures seem to be a lot more similar to what we have here in New Zealand) there is a world of difference sometimes.
We need to announce that table is playing the max but don't need permission to continue, a bet close to or on the maximum needs to be stepped before the deal and anything over the limit handed back then. That changeover thing you did would get me hammered lol
We never hand back money over the max, not sure why, lot's of players don't like dealers touching their money though :)
One thing people forget is that some of the things they you learn in class don't always pertain to the floor.
ie: If you where a supervisor and had a brand new dealer on a game, would you want him/her dealing to table max without waiting for you? So no, in the real world they don't always wait.
Also, this video was just fooling around while they waited for a written test.
We always hand back bets over the max, or under the minimum. Although on higher value tables you try to touch the chips as little as possible since they don't like it.
Here we have to announce when a box or table is playing to the max, so the supervisor is aware. I work in a pretty small casino, so usually they'll have time to notice.
The video was good times, clearly you guys are fooling around, its a nice atmosphere!!
Ironically I'm Polish :) I work as a dealer in New Zealand though.
will that douche stop playing with his chips.

Aside from all the othe comments such as clearing hands etc, why do they have to say
"pay or take to $1000 (or other table max)"
It just sounds stupid. As said somewhere else large bets on or near the table max I would check to make sure it didn't exceed it.
So is it just like someone chucking a wedge of cash down on red on roulette mid spin?
-grab cash plays button- "cash plays red to the maximum" -grab cash and replace with button and pairing button
drewpeacock89 2 years ago
