There just is nothing like some of these old Hymns. Especially when played on a pipe organ and choir. It always shows up modern synthesized instruments for just how bad they suck.
Well an electro synth has its place too but not for certain types of music where only a live vibrating pipe or horn will do where a synthetic speaker insterment no matter how good will never match the origional syth the theater organ or in this case a combo organ that has some of both classical organs and some coupled pipes, much like the even larger boardwalk hall organ.
@djb1492 I sang this arrangement in choir about 20 years ago with a pitiful high school orchestra and middling piano accompaniment. I still remember being disappointed at the accompaniment. I also remember seeing this "performed" at Nixon's funeral service. It was a hastily thrown together Naval choir and electronic piano accompaniment. I was appalled. To have been able to hear this live with choir, brass ensemble and the Wanamaker organ? Unbelievable. So jealous of this audience.
Believe it or not, back in the pre-rock era (mid 1950's), the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's performance of this arrangement of the BHOTR hit the top of the charts for best-selling record. The music industry has changed considerably since ;-)
@a55b47 sad how times have changed, isn't it? Now people are into this Lady Gaga, Bieber fever...techno, rap, and blast beats, all of which is noise... There's no more passion, soul, fire, or divine influence in any of "today's" music, like there was before. But hands down, this is truly better!
This sounds like an excellent arrangement of the Battle hymn. I just wish the sounds quality were better.

The arrangement is by Peter J. Wilhousky. Arguably the best arrangement there is.
