This is unbelievable. The writing was fantastic. A story like this couldn't be made in the Internet age we live in. Let's be honest to convey the intimacy today they would have the characters sleeping together. That just isn't what the story is about. Another funny thing is my grandparents ran a dry cleaning shop. I remember my Grandmother at home, spending hours at her Singer sewing machine. At work my Grandfather used the sewing machine. Thanks for the wonderful story.
This episode originally aired on October 14, 1954, and features an early performance by Joanne Woodward [not "Mrs. Paul Newman" as yet]..."Next week, 'SINGER FOUR STAR PLAYHOUSE' presents CHARLES BOYER-- in 'The Wallet'".
A very young Joanne Woodward(Mrs.Paul Newman) appearing with Dick Powell, one of the producer's of the series ,in one of the many excellent dramas during that period.Classic TV from the "golden age".
Those old Singer Machines are better built, than this plastic chinese crap they sell now.
