I did this idea, i used two 12-15 ounce bottles of molasses. I put in 4 lbs of sugar, and 24 grams of yeast. I put it all the water, but added in 6 cans of all natural pineapple juice. I ferminated it for a week, and ages it for another. I tasted it and it doesnt seem that strong, any tips of how to make it stronger alch %
What is the final yield using that much molasses? 11kg of molasses would cost about 22.50USD, so it would have to be a substantial yield to make this cost effective after figuring in the cost of buckets, a still, filtration, etc.
@indyschmidt it's not expensive and also it is nice to have some made rum. This stuff you can drink it straight and not have it burn the shit outta your throat. The alcohol from the liquor store is crap and make me sick, it's like they put shit in it to make us sick.
@makingbuck Agreed on the commercial rum crap. All the rums I've had that didn't make me regret my decision were rather expensive. When I get a house I will definitely pursue this.
