The main riff is very similar to Black Sabbath's Sweet Leaf. If actual rip off or not, its a sweet riff to use and wouldn't blame Metallica for using it. I feel Metallica makes it sound better. It fits them better. Metallica gives it more of a blues feel, since the album was more hard rock. Black Sabbath has more of the doom metal sound (they did help created that and many other metal sub genres with a number of songs) with Sweet Leaf riff. Both Fixxer and Sweet Leaf are great songs.
this solo is actually really sweet, superb balance between chill and heavy, and if you sorta anticipate the notes they're not playing its even better :P
Load, ReLoad, and, to a lesser extent, The Black Album, get heat for not being as heavy as previous albums, but how can someone listen to the personal lyrics of songs like this, "Mama Said," "Nothing Else Matters," etc. and not feel it?

I love the noise at the beginning and the guitar work at the beginning. Underrated album, I actually prefer it to The Black Album and a few others.

its very underrated, iknow load and re load were supposed to be a doublealbum but i think if youtook the best offboth you'd have one great cd overall

This is exactly what I think of Load and Reload, too. Though they're not the best albums of Metallica, they still have some great, charming songs. And I love them

amen bro. there isn't a stereo system in the world that could play this song as loud as it should be played. i'm with you on this song being better than therapy. the first time i played this song, it brought tears to my eyes. Everyone asked why i was crying during the gig. They just don't understand...a simply amazing song. Bravo Metallica. You've made a masterpiece with this...

very clever, in a twisted (good) way. I never knew that, thanks for sharing man. Lol, I kinda thought the opening riff was a little porno-esque when I first listened to Fixxxer. Now Fixxxer (and the opening riff) are one of my favorite things to play on guitar. Another almost ten minute Metallica epic.

as much as new metallica doesn't compare to old metallica...alot of their newer stuff is actually pretty good considering, this is a perfect example of that, so is the unnamed feeling, carpe diem baby, unforgiven II and devils dance
