Just to clear up a misconception...this song was NOT about the disagreements within the band. I asked Lou Gramm about it recently--he says it was actually about a relationship involving one of the band members and his significant other (didn't say which band member's troubles inspired it). Meanwhile the band was fighting over its direction--Mick Jones thought the ballads were the future of the band, Lou thought hard rock was the best way.
