Why does NPR always ask for donations if they're tax-funded? Pick one or the other. I'd rather have them be non-tax-funded as I don't see why the country needs a public radio. If people want that, those people should pay for it. Everyone shouldn't be forced to fund it.

NPR should be allowed to exist if they are self-funded...just like any media. Obviously they are not...despite their fund-raising extravaganzas and what ads they do sell.
University radio stations are sometimes affiliated with NPR...but needn't be. The use of a campus station to train students should be a school expense...not tied to NPR funds and prerequisites.

When PRICES rise by the market, people consume less - simple.
When the government tries to force prices to go up, it causes all sorts of problems and bubbles -- but doesn't necessarily reduce consumption. For example, I will bet you that there will be subsidies for any number of "groups" to LOWER their prices rather than raise the prices. Not simple, and it won't sonve anything; it'll just make more mess.

I can't give you dates. However the Chicken Littles began screaming about "global warming". Sometime during this decade they figured out the the Earth wasn't warming anymore. It then became "global climate change" and any unusual weather event, from a very active hurricane season, to a quiet one, to the current deep freeze cold snap, was blamed on "man-made global climate change". It's an absolute joke.

I think, when you say "they say its global warming", you have to distinguish the people who are looking at the issue politically from those doing the science on it.
Its cold as hell here in Ottawa. That does not "prove/disprove" global warming but a hot summer wouldn't either, lol.
I think some global warming is a concern because the US meterologists say its a concern based on the science. I don't know how much of a concern it is.

It cracks me up to see that people deny the fact that the earth's temperature is increasing. This is fact. There is evidence to show that humans have increased the rate of the warming cycle, but indeed, it is a natural cycle that the earth goes through. This cycle causes more extreme weather...warmer summers, colder winters. Frankly I love it....I get to go snowboarding in the winter, and get a great tan for the summer.
