  • with his example with transform, add softfocus with edius and try it with final cut, and let export the same length to a file, ill bet you edius would even eat any rendering

  • there no problem with edius, it has been that way even when it was still version 3, if you only use all default fx and transition in edius, everything is real time! thats why adobe used to take edius efx as plugin.

if your taking about point edit, you lack the knowledge of using the software, it can do 3 and 4 point edit, you just dont now how to edit if if goes everywhere!

you can see how simple the PIP and final cut needs to render that, lolz! edius even 3d tranform that still real time

  • someone, add it subtitles :D

  • The real problem with Edius has nothing to do with its performance. It's useability. or lack of useability. Try some time line edits where you an in point and out point and then lift or extract something, you're screwed because the playhead goes somewhere else and you have to bring it back to the edit point. That's terrible programming. It makes the NLE completely inefficient.

  • You can also make all of your adjustments to your material while edius is playing a sequence. So tell your boss he's a dick.

  • But Final Cut Pro is more creative than EDIUS 6 [I'm sick of people who think like that]

  • @ErikRicardoLC the creative part comes from you the editor or the producer or the director.

    this is a performance comparison.

PIP: 7 minutes to render in FCP.

3D PIP: 10 seconds to render in EDIUS6.

check out the tutorials this Japanese editor in Edius youtube(dot)com/user/YoshihiroOh

  • @nayalm No, I'm think this tool is great. I were talking about people who really think that way, let me explain; in the place I work my boss make us to use Final Cut Pro just because it's made by Apple and Mac computers are the only tools worth for creativity so they just miss great possibilities like this software is.

  • @ErikRicardoLC you made it crystal clear and i APOLOGIZE for not separating you from the people you were referring to in my reply and i hope i didn't offended you.

people who think like your boss are the reason why so many things are either overrated or underrated.

Grassvalley should make an Edius version for OSX and Linux so you can meet your boss halfway like when FCP came editors were using Avid, Premier Pro and Media100 on Macintosh machines and slowly FCP got its share of mac NLE users.

  • FCP hätte man als ProRes laufen lassen sollen, dann sieht das Ergebnis ganz anders aus.

  • Unfortunately, Edius 6 is not able to compose. I used Liquid seven with lots of compositing abilities. With edius it is just impossible to compose something. The effetcs are some obsolete transitions, some filters and that's it. If I want ton adjust an image into another one with specific wipe aspect and soft border, i can't. Of course, the rest is very good, but I can't go with it. I desperately need to compose.

  • @MustangIVU Dude! When you say you can't do those things, that's exactly right. YOU can't, but I certainly can, and with ease, in real time. Have you used EDIUS 6? It's not like EDIUS 5. It's compositing power is in full effect. Learn the new features and give it a go :)

  • @mtscott44 Yes, at this point i was testing Edius with the 6.0 trial version. I tried to find out for some advices on the VGV Edius forum, but unfortunately they answered that Edius was not able to cook corn flakes...??? !!! A had more serious feedback from GVG on line support in the UK. The Trial version did not provide the full effects package. I am now working with the official 6.04 version. Thanks to the GVG support it is easier now.

  • @MustangIVU Ahhh I see :) But don't forget that EDIUS's realtime native filters (no plugins required and all available in the trial version) are very powerful tools for both colour grading and compositing. The YUV curve, 3-way color corrector, Chrominance Filter and the all new free form Mask tool give you unlimited potential. I am currently working on some video tutorials that will teach you everything you need to know. Sorry if I seemed a but jumpy on your comment.

  • @mtscott44 You're right. Training is essential. Sharing experiences too. At this point, I have a better opinion of Edius. I have to admit the first days were difficult with the trial version and the manual. Once you understand how to manage those effects and filters, it is a very useful solution. I'm very impressed by the color correction processing. Thanks to some video tutorials found on youtube. It is also possible to create very precise masks with a pen, impressive!

  • Perfect preview! Simple and quick!

    Thnx..

  • edius is the fastest system,no rendering, best quality

  • @recail ive tested every software out there, i agree, i really thought i had to have the DV storm engine to work real time, i was surprised even without hardware it still so fast, i tried 3 layers with 3 efx and played seemlessly, even exported faster the the length of the video! edius rocks!

  • @jbx907 i have do many with edius in no time, since i tryed edius i no longer search for a better software because there isnt:,its so fast even with a home pc

  • @recail your totally right

  • Gratulation !!

  • Thank You.I Love EDIUS

  • Edius 6 Rulez!! :)

  • FCP BURN!
