Hey people, its not necessary to run the android-bullet-temp-rooter. Just run the ruu to downgrade to 2.2 then follow the steps of how to root on froyo. THATS IT !!

@sholain13 Well what this does is downgrade you to Android 2.2 so you can root... There's no way to root when on 2.3

I pulled the battery out and tried a few times the same should I continue even thoug it says no times? the read me said expect to see error a few times. When it fails should I go to re root or keep trying with the original. my phone was never rooted

I have SuperUser installed, and i dont have root accsess. I ran the re-root,and it still didnt say it. and i ran it again and i keep having to pull the battery, and it repeats. Am i doing anything wrong?

Never mind, I believe I found the problem. I wasn't using this script and was trying to downgrade manually, but I skipped a step (manipulating the misc.img file). The guide I'm using isn't extremely noob friendly.

For the root checker app, there is only a Root Check Basic and you must pay for the Root Check Pro. Is there a difference? I've been trying to check if it's rooted with the Root Check Basic so many times now and nothing.

One of these error messages will appear when you use the incorrect RUU to update and the image file size is larger than the Flash ROM size. In this case, download the correct RUU version and try again... thats what it is but i dont know what version i need

I'd like to say thank you so much! However, after hours of not proceeding (and getting an error message) I did a couple things different.

1. Did a factory reset (Power off the device. Hold power + volume down, then select factory reset)

2. When plugging the device, I chose "disk drive" instead of 'charge only"

Part 2 was the difference maker for me. When I did disk drive instead of charge only, i got NO errors in my installation (using the original rooter, not the re-rooter).

Quick question, is this safe to do if the shift has been flashed to the Cricket network. Only asking because of the whole "wipe phone data" thing and have no idea if that will mess with the flash that was put on the phone by Cricket. Thanks in advance.

@qbking77 Again me. I ran the first script and then checked using root checker but it said phone was no rooted. Pulled out battery and try re-root script, but it says always it can't find su. The phone has the Superuser app but it says is outdated. If you try to update (show an option 'tap for update') it fails.

Do I try to run again and again the re-root script? or maybe I should run the first script, due the first attempt wasn't succesful?

@qbking77 When I ran again temp root noticed after the "pushing su file" message, "server not running" was printed. But I supose it's normal because I see in the bat file a "adb kill-server". Everything else seems right.

I ran re-root right after. It shown "Payload verification failed" and then starts printing "Scanning regions". When it finished, appears the "did I say exploting device only one" message, but "Exploting device" appears zero times. I stopped the process pulling out the battery.

I have the same trouble as ElementGamingTV. I have tried to root & reroot half a dozen times and root check says there is no root access. I can send you the info from root check advanced if you think that could help. What would happen if I just ignore root check and try to run RRU Speedy without root access?

Try this first: Have you tried rebooting? Reboot, run the orignal root, then if that doesn't work, run the re root right after.

If that doesn't work... you can try the RUU, I don't think it will work if the hack doesn't transfer properly.... I'm not sure if it would work. I would think if it let you run through it it would work.

I assume when you say "reboot" you mean reboot the phone, not the computer? Each time, before I run root or re-root, i power down, remove the battery, reinsert the battery, and then power up. That, of course, means that I reboot the phone.

If I was able to find a different way to temp root my EVO, could I still then proceed with running RUU Speedy?
