@crazebox66 I don't know if you play guitar, but the "electronic" you're talking about is either a) distortion, which is an analog technology, or b) octave up pedals (electroharmonix POG or digitech whammy), in which case, the only thing that's fake is that a pedal sends the pitch of his guitar up (or down) 1 or 2 octaves. That doesn't change the complexity of his playing, it just allows him to go higher or lower than a guitar naturally is able to.

Hell, we just managed to sift through the old stuff and we only remember the actual good bands. I had a friend who was brought up on and only listens to 60s and 70s music, and nothing else. I managed to show him Wilco once, and he changed his whole mind on modern music. All the great music being made today, you have to dig a little deeper to get to.

The only reason Radiohead, RHCP (I'd argue they DO fall into the realm of Classic Rock, if only barely) & QotSA aren't classified as Classic Rock, are because the term, in the strictest sense, was coined before they (except RHCP) became the mainstream. In the late 80s, radio programmers & record promoters began assuming that people who liked "classics" didn't care for newer artists & vice versa.
