  • This is such a good early morning song.

  • 2:00 Shit just got real.

  • @bobdull420 Cause of all the dead headphone users?

  • @bobdull420 That would be the 'outpour' bit then.

  • Forgot how much I loved these guys....

  • Reminds me of the movie Blow

  • Shortly after this recording Jack White was arrested and held on First Degree Assault of a Musical Instrument.

  • @thedecline123 if i could like your comment i would

  • This is one of my favourites of the White Stripes I love the peaceful self conscious lyrics, and the way the song breathes as the the drums and guitar slowly get louder then quieten as if the song was alive. Beautiful.

  • heard it today for the first time on the radio and here i am, likey

  • @tubernua571 Where is this awesome place you live that airs this song, let alone the Stripes to begin with??

  • @crazyfroglol The place is Ireland, you have to come here, but bring lots of money, billions, about 80 billion (euros)

  • @tubernua571 Euros is the reason Ireland needs that kind of coin.

  • @sokkaizcool No, actually Ireland is the reason euros are the reason Ireland needs that kind of coin.

  • I'm crazy or this sounds like Led Zeppelin?

  • @alexynere9 Eh kinda. It has influences...

  • I set the first dun-di-di-dun-dunn as my new messenger notification sound XD

  • One of my fav songs!!! I didn't know the name i just heard it and really liked it, now I found it!

  • Wow. the little crazy guitar parts sound like seizures or spasms, then it just goes back to normal. That is so cool.

  • the hook is cool.

  • Why would you just post someone else's music and put the album cover up? I don't get it. I mean if i wanted to just listen to the music i could find it online anywhere in better quality. I guess better not to ask.

  • @rederager uh, it's actually pretty common on youtube. a lot of us just want to hear a particular song for whatever reason, so it's easy to jump on youtube and find it. we don't need video to go along with it.

  • something about this song makes me want to get my guitar, my amp, and grilled cheese sandwich and play into the winter night.

  • after only listening to the first 15 seconds, i knew i had a new favorite song. Oh... and the Edge and go suck off an irish munchkin

  • it might get loud is my fave documentary even if the edge has trouble keeping up on in my time of dyin' jack gets it just like jimmy has always got it

  • @bassnuckle edge is a fag he isnt even good at guitar

  • @crazebox66 why does everyone talk bad about him, he fucking plays in U2, one of the greatest bands alive. And, you mother fucker, I bet he is like fucking way, I am talking way better then you.

  • @TheChaoticgrinJr watch it might get loud! half the shit he plays is completely electronic and and he is only actually playing half the shit that comes out of the amp TECHNOLOGY CAN MAKE ANYONE GREAT!! and U2? they fucking blow

  • @crazebox66 OKAY, lol. I know, I've seen it Might Get Loud, where he chops all that effects into play. Compared to Jimmy, and Jack. He isn't nothing, and U2 is very popular. I feel as if you may be right when it comes to guitar (not him being a fag lol), he isn't bad that bad, he's just shit compared to Jack, and Jimmy. Its a good movie, and your "TECHNOLOGY CAN MAKE ANYONE GREAT" statement, I could't agree anymore with you dude, look at fucking bieber, and gomez. All electronic...

  • @crazebox66 I don't know if you play guitar, but the "electronic" you're talking about is either a) distortion, which is an analog technology, or b) octave up pedals (electroharmonix POG or digitech whammy), in which case, the only thing that's fake is that a pedal sends the pitch of his guitar up (or down) 1 or 2 octaves. That doesn't change the complexity of his playing, it just allows him to go higher or lower than a guitar naturally is able to.

  • @westpsmity I think he's talking about the Edge..? (such a douchey nickname) not Jack.

  • @TheChaoticgrinJr i have to agree with you about u2.

  • im gonna have the shinniest pair of shoes

  • Can't you hear Zeppelin doing a cover of this and just killing it?

  • @sokkaizcool Can't you hear Jack White Killing it right now?

  • scaring the hell outta of you.

  • love this band i listen to a lot of heavy shit to but its always good to relax

  • 3 people do not use the Metric System ;)

  • temazoo

  • They are the reason that rock n roll still exists outside of the radio.

  • this song is genius.

  • @sealface22 It says "Showing results for icky thump."

  • I love the beginning

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACK!!!!!!

  • @awesomeNH Dude I see your comments on every white stripes vid I go to xD I have found a fellow die hard fan

  • @SuspiciousPakage HAHAHA tHX

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACK!!!!!!

  • This song is great!

  • lyrics sound a lil captain beefheart inspired. love it!

  • something about this song makes me wanna play my guitar

  • @FarmerHeard You must have too many chromosomes.

  • @shaneuk666

    Comment of the century.

  • Media is always focused on whether they ar together or not, or if they are brother and sister it seems. They have messages in almost of all of their songs. They don't talk about that much on the "MUSIC"tv

  • the guitar solo sounds like someone is screaming for help and struggling to survive... danm it made me shiver!

  • 2 people have not gone 300 mph. im surprised only 99 k viewed :O??

  • huevos al qe le dio no me gusta

tambien al qe no le de manita arriba

  • huevos al qe le dio no me gusta

  • lyrics remind me of Green Day.

  • @kemics101 you should listen to their old stuff and go up and see what you like best

  • @safcdude Jack White played on some of the songs of Guero, actually

  • But I can't help but wonder if after I'm gone will I still have these three hundred mile per

hour, finger breaking, no answers makin', battered dirty hands, bee stung and busted up, empty

    cup torrential outpour blues

One thing's for sure: in that graveyard

I'm gonna have the shiniest pair of shoes

  • This is a song i can begin a chilled evenning in my garden with ma Friends

  • Beautiful song.

  • Why in the hell haven't Beck and Jack White mingled creative juices? I can imagine that would be some amazing music...

  • @safcdude they done an album together ;)

  • @safcdude they already have

the 3 B-Sides to the Conquest single were all co-produced by Beck. He also contributed backing vocals, piano, and slide guitar.

  • @gusterguy01826 what were the 3 b sides?

  • 2:04 took my be surprise the first time I heard it...

  • I like some of their stuff. I really do! On the other hand, some of it is a little hard to get into. I was grooving on this, until about a minute and a half, when it sounded like White got his finger caught in his electric guitar. Maybe it'll take some getting used to.

  • is it bad that that I think of 'Daddy doesn't Care' when I hear this?

  • @boomchuga austin powers ?? hahaha

  • Robert Plant? Is that you?

  • This song knows its cool. It has so much swagger. I didn't know a song could be cocky, but thats what it feels like to me. If this song was a person it would just be walkin' down the street in sunglasses and a leather jacket, telling everyone to get the hell out of the way just by the look on its face.

  • World of Warcraft

  • uclkçliuhgvguhgvggvh

Sorry, just cleaning the cum off of my keyboard.

  • Lived with the hope that they would come back for so long.. oh well oh well.

  • can some please tell me some songs that have like the same hard guitar riff like this song please please please =]

  • keepin' the blues alive..thanks white stripes

  • Comment removed

  • r.i.p. the white strips took a big chunk of rock with them to the grave

  • fuck Jack totally sounded like Robert Plant in the beginning.

  • @0live0wire0

    Haha, true.

  • @0live0wire0 Yeah, when I watched Under the Great White Northern Lights (or was it It Might Get Loud?).. I had to guess whether it was Jack or Robert when this song played.

  • Jack White is one of the few guitarists who has actually done something with his music to be remembered for generations to come... Can't wait till White Stripes make more music this year.

  • Watch 'It Might Get Loud'. Jimmy Page is getting quite old and The Edge relies more on effects than raw playing and you can see Jack White just pulling away from them he is amazing he has so much natural talent.

  • "It Might Get Loud" really got me started on The White Stripes. Great film

  • 2 people have A.I.D.S.

  • why would jack white "shred" in a band were shredding would totally be out of place?some people are so dumb these days.

  • This song has a very painful-sounding title. Good stuff, they really should make more music like this. I love the White Stripes.

  • Jack White is the best guitarist from new generation.

    Who agree ?

  • @KuboZelek Do you want everyone to thumb your comment up? I would say he is ONE of the best, but none of us have heard every single guitar player from our generation, so it's a lie to say he is.

  • I think 2:04 is the torrential outpour..

  • jack white is a god

  • @seeediemonks like the Christian god that doesn't exist? Agreed.

  • What a kick ass tune!!

  • give tame impala a listen to

  • @junglemuffin 100% agree. Tame impala is one of the best new bands around. however not quiteas raw aswhite tripesunessyou listen to their EP

  • my favourite song of the white stipes

  • Everytime I either think or listens to this song, it reminds me when I was going to Holland. Few hours before we drove towards Holland, I heard this song for the first time. It's kind of annoying, because it was an amazing trip. But this is truly an amazing song.

    The White Stripes!

  • what a brilliant and perfect song, this isn't normal Ö

  • anyone point me to some more bands like the stripes, sorta classic blues but with hard guitar?

  • @knickerloss you might like the gories. jack white likes them.

  • @knickerloss you could try wolfmother or maybe eels? They're not quite the same as the stripes but they kind of complement them.

  • @knickerloss black keys

  • @emotive07 Agreed, black keys is a good choice

  • @Daywatchman

Third. The Black Keys are great.

  • Comment removed

  • Whammy at it's best 2:05

  • i like how on several occasions meg drums with actual skill on this song

  • 2:05 was the outpour part :)

  • Could anyone recommend me some more whitestripes/raconteur songs that have a similar sound. Cheers!

  • @Kemics101 ball and biscuit has a similar structure, otherwise this song sounds like nothing else jack white has done

  • @Kemics101 try Consolers of the Lonely by the Raconteurs (its the title track to their second masterpiece of an album)

  • Don't know why but ive always avoided the whitestripes because i thought they were poppy crap. I cant believe how epically wrong i was. Just getting into the raconteurs/the white stripes. Gutted i wasted so much time not listening to them. Such epic classic rock, sounds so timeless hard to believe its so contemporary.

  • @Kemics101 could you recommend some songs now for me? with that bluesy feel? i wanna get into them too cause i wanna listen to more modern blues

  • @nickys15 listen to anything by the john mayer trio. thats a more retro take on modern blues but hell has it got some nice guitar and bass riffs. =] hope this helps. if you need anything else just ask

  • @HELLJUMP3R7 yea i listen to john mayer, he's great. too bad there aren't more artists like white or mayer out there

  • @nickys15 yeh it is

  • @Kemics101...I feel the same way. The are so much better than I thought possible.

  • @Kemics101 Yea I was the same way >.< when I first heard Seven Nation Army I punched my self in the face out of stupidity on how I thought they sucked lol

  • @Kemics101 You have to understand though, that just because some music is more modern or contemporary, it is not be any means more poppy or lesser. Hell, we just managed to sift through the old stuff and we only remember the actual good bands. I had a friend who was brought up on and only listens to 60s and 70s music, and nothing else. I managed to show him Wilco once, and he changed his whole mind on modern music. All the great music being made today, you have to dig a little deeper to get to.

  • @Kemics101

don't call it "classic rock." all that does it align it with a time period, which is exactly the opposite of what timeless music is...time-stamped. I always hated the term "classic rock" because it measures music by something it's completely unrelated to: time. The best music is timeless, you're right.

Now, if you could just please help me kill the word/phrase/idea of classic rock....

  • @popomczowzow classic rock just means good rock. Basically.

  • @Kawasaski65 that's not at all what it means, or at least not how it's used. I've never heard anyone call a band "classic rock" just because they're good. Would you call Radiohead, RHCP, or Queens of the Stone Age classic rock?

Classic rock = Foreigner, Bad Company ect. Unoriginal artists labelled "real musicians" because they played in the style of acts like Zep- mainstream in the 70s.

Good composers make good music. Uncreative, badly written songs are badly written songs, regardless of style.

  • @popomczowzow ... I like Bad Company

  • @popomczowzow classic rock means good rock, if you casually say it to a casual person, they'll accept it, if they're cool and not a tightwad douchebag who likes to over analyze simple things, simple things like this music or that other guy's comment...

  • @popomczowzow I know, I was just playing around.

  • @Kawasaski65 oh damn. now that I reread I see how obvious that was haha

still, I stand by second comment, regardless of what "provoked" it

  • @popomczowzow I think you're referring to Corporate Rock, rather than Classic Rock. The only reason Radiohead, RHCP (I'd argue they DO fall into the realm of Classic Rock, if only barely) & QotSA aren't classified as Classic Rock, are because the term, in the strictest sense, was coined before they (except RHCP) became the mainstream. In the late 80s, radio programmers & record promoters began assuming that people who liked "classics" didn't care for newer artists & vice versa.

  • @screwyootube1

So you would consider RHCP and Radiohead classic rock? What is your criteria for what you consider classic rock? Now you've got me interested

  • @popomczowzow Sorry, I didn't notice your response until I was sifting through my spambox. Anyway, I only meant RHCP could (IMO) POSSIBLY be classified as "Classic Rock" (and I hasten to add, it's a bit of a stretch), and I wasn't using any personal criteria, only that Classic Rock radio seems to have embraced their hits (at least through the "Californication" period). I'd agree with your comments to Kemics101, that music is timeless. Terms like "Classic Rock" try to draw unnecessary (cont)

  • @popomczowzow (cont) lines, saying this style of music is this style ONLY, and cannot be allowed to co-mingle with another type. To me, Classic Rock, Modern Rock, Alternative Rock, oldies... it's rock & roll. It may or may not be any good. THAT has to be left up to the person(s) deciding for themselves.

  • @popomczowzow And to put Bad Company in the same category as Foreigner is kind of like putting Led Zeppelin in the same category as Motley Crue. Have you even listened to Bad Company, beyond their hit singles? Songs like "Seagull", "Shooting Star", "Silver, Blue & Gold", "Burnin' Sky", "Evil Wind", and "Electricland" could stand up to the best of White Stripes, IMHO. Mick Jagger once called Paul Rodgers one of his favorite rock & roll singers.

  • @screwyootube1 honestly, I've only heard about 3 or 4 of bad company's songs, I'll check out some of their better stuff, thanks for the recommendation

  • @Kemics101 You should never avoid a band for what you think they might be. If you hear something you like, just dig into it.

  • @Kemics101 I 100% agree with you. I'm on the exact same page with you.

  • @Kemics101 well now you know its never to late to appreciate some good tunes :)

  • @Kemics101

Same thing happened to me man. Poor timing, seeing as how they ended the band, but better now than never.

  • just brilliant

  • The bit at 2:05 just comes out of nowhere.. its great

  • who ever are the 2 ppl that disliked this video have to be deaf dum and blind.

  • @kalanl

    very true

  • Love this song ..the change up is awesome! Thanks for posting

  • jack really loves his redheads

  • its like this song has torrettes...fuckin awsome haha :D

  • 2.05 ...!

  • my band and i are going to make a cover of this once i get my messenger guitar from eastwood guitars...sigh. My 59 custom is just going to wait to be played.

  • take a quote from bruce lee to understand the greatness of Jack White's music:

It is easy for me to put on a show and be cocky so I can show you some really fancy movement. But to express oneself honestly, not lying to oneself, and to express myself honestly enough; that my friend, is very hard to do.

  • @Rorix9 Check out the track Honest Expression by Binary Star...they have Bruce Lee making that lil speech at the beginning..not to mention Binary Star is one of the greatest Underground Hip Hop Collabs ever

  • @Columbano8705 That's where i got i bro :)...Masters of the Universe is AMAZING

  • I could listen to this forever..

  • 2:05....holy shit i have to go change my pants...

  • man, Icky Thump is my fuck fav album

  • Does Jack use the Kay Hollowbody on this song ?

  • I can understand not liking Dead Weather or Raconteurs as much as the White Stripes.

But anyone who can listen to this song and say this entire album is shit is fucking insane.

There are just a lot of golden moments on everything Jack is in.

  • I love how soul barring this song is.The rythem, the lyrics, and of course Jack's voice.

  • i just bought icky thumb, maybe last monday

    this song is a gem

  • Led Zeppelin much.

  • It's so good to have the Detroit garage bands around...all the other music is way too polished. Gotta have some tension and release. ;)

  • @mrhipfl and who doesn't like release.

  • I don't wanna take anything away from this song but I think the super screeched guitar riffs are just a little too much.

  • @longtimeskater thats one of my favorite parts. haha

  • the little riff around 3:11 sounds like the Alman Brothers

  • Unpolished, not-over-produced, rag
