  • That does suck

  • This was my first Vegetarian Thanksgiving, and my first Tofurkey, and I have to say it was 100 times better than what I thought it would be! I prefer the Field Roast Celebration roast however. I'm sticking with that for Christmas. I can't say that I missed the real thing though. I've always loved all of the sides on Thanksgiving more anyway! :-D

  • Good for you for sticking to your guns and not having turkey. Unless you cheated, In which case you are a horrible person and you need to be locked up in Turkey Prison.

  • Oh man, I hear that.

  • There is nothing wrong with a little indulgence now and then. A nice moist turkey is far too delicious to turn away from. I've never really understood the vegetarian lament anyway. Some say that it is cruel to eat living beings. Well, everything is a living being. Plants, vegetables, trees; all of these have circulatory systems, breathe oxygen, eat food, and some would argue, feel it when they are killed. So what is the real difference between killing a plant for food and killing and animal?

  • I dont agree. being a vegetarian doesnt suck at all on Thanksgiving or any other day. How gorss to sit next to people eating a dead corpse bird that was once happily gobbling about. How insensitive to kill it and eat it ?!? Human beings , I mean HUMANE beings do not eat animals to be able to survive. I have not had to in 36 years. I am not living in the Arctic CIrcle. There are exceptions for a few. SO much energy is lost in eating any kind of meat. Not for intelligent people at all !

  • I'd rather die ten years sooner than go without my delicious red meat. Why live longer and healthier if I'm miserable, right?

  • no it doesn't the tofurkey is soooooo goood I had it last thanksgiving!!! btw you are awesome Wil!

  • The sides are my favorite part of thanksgiving anyway!

  • You should've had the tur-briska-fil.

  • Theeeeeere's tofu all around the bed

    and tofu on the floor.

    Tofu in the kitchen

    and behind the pantry door.

    There’s tofu in the fireplace

    and tofu in the hall.

    The living room is carpeted

    with tofu, wall to wall.

  • This made me laugh so hard, sorry Wil:D

  • I have a suggestion.... Stop trying to be a vegetarian

  • Seriously, tofurky is for people with no imagination :P

  • Sorry Wil. You're awesome, but being vegetarian is fucking with nature. Nature made me an omnivore, I'm not going to argue.

  • 1:15 - Think about how much it sucks to be the Turkey for thanksgiving and it may make sense to you why you should be a vegetarian. If it doesn't, then perhaps you should not be a vegetarian.

  • Dude, those potatoes look awful. We hate the Tofurkey, too, but Quorn is better, and we had this mushroom gravy that was so good, no one ate the turkey gravy. There used to be this fantastic thing called the Zen Unturkey--you can still make your own, but the company is gone. Better luck next holiday feast.

  • If the tofurkey feels wierd next to the turkey, just don't feel the turkey :)

  • Yeah, my poor mom always ends up just eating sides... you poor, poor things.

  • It's so perfectly round... like you cooked a Critter or a tribble.

  • We tried Tofurky for the first time this past Thanksgiving, and it was awesome. :)

What would suck about the scenario depicted in the video, for me, is being around people who are consuming the carcass of what used to be a former fellow being of this earth. It's hard not to feel saddened by the ignorance, apathy, and cruelty of others...

  • @kimberlily1983 It's so delicious. Rare steak is amazing, the blood just adds extra flavour

  • @Darthozzan13 I like seasoning my steak with the last tears shed by the cow. You can taste the misery.

  • @kimberlily1983 it's called humour.. heard of the concept? ;)

  • I had a Tofurkey for Thanksgiving as well! It's quite delicious, in my opinion. :)

  • Um, wtf? Tofurkey is fuckin' amazing, its way better than regular turkey. It was the only good part of my thanksgiving, and I was glad only a few select people were eating it.

  • This is my life. Every Thanksgiving.

  • Well as long as there is a bottle of a nice brew beside the Tofurkey, than its alright.

Ho ho ho...wait that was wrong

  • Wow, sucks to be you (on Thanksgiving)...

  • I'd give you a pass.

  • The tofurkey roast is okay, but I prefer to make my own because I can control the seasonings and it's a lot cheaper. There's also this company called Field Roast that makes a celebration roast, but it's so small and expensive.

I actually just uploaded a video of our vegan Thanksgiving dinner if you would like to check it out!

    -@sendmorecops on twitter

  • I didnt know you were veggie! Good on ya! xx

  • Maybe next year find a turkey mold. Then it can look similar to the real thing.

  • Got news for ya, it sucks every day of the year. :p

  • Dumbass should not be a veghead!

  • Actually, I think the tofurkey looked delicious.

I'm a polpescetarian. I still eat poultry, fish, and seafood, but I gave up red meats.

Giving up red meat is actually really healthy, especially if your family is prone to heart attacks and high cholesterol (like mine is).

Just gotta be sure to get some protein in other ways -thumbs up-

  • MMmmmm tasty animal flesh

  • Comment removed

  • eat meat.

  • you a Veggie?! OMG You gotta be shitting me, Whats the point. thousands of animals are killed everyday for food, regardless if you eat meat or not, at least it something that taste good.

  • This is why being a vegetarian just plain isn't worth it!

  • no no no no no no!! it's the best! we have stuffed butternut squash and things. it is NOM.

  • Geez, the least they could do is make look better to not depress people on Thanksgiving

  • I feel so sorry for you...

We only had a Turkey Roast but even that looked tastier than that Tofurkey!!

    Poor Poor Wil...

  • LOL! I've so been there! Tofurkey is not bad but it sure isn't a real turkey. I've since quit being a vegetarian and I'll always lament the year I didn't eat turkey!

  • HONESTLY I'd cheat on thanksgiving.

    I would.

  • Screw the cute little birdies! (Those f$^%@ers have caused so many car wrecks around here) THEY TASTE GOOOOOD, Wil! YOU CAN'T EAT TOFURKEY!

  • Meat is delicious, I can't even fathom being a vegetarian.

  • Wil I grew up vegetarian. We have tofurkey every thanksgiving and it's awesome. But yeah, I suppose they could make it look a bit more appetizing.

  • He is just joking..

  • I hear ya. Potatoes, carrots, peas. That's it.

  • I'm a Vauge-an. I eat a vegan diet most of the time, but I totally had turkey yesterday. When I was on vacation and someone bought me a filet mignon dinner, I did not turn my nose up at it.

  • Being a vegetarian never sucks Wil... =]

  • Errata: You get a one-day exemption if you give thanks for your omnivorous digestive system.

  • My aunt made me salmon cause I'm a pescetarian... I hate salmon.

I made do with copious amounts of stuffing and cranberry relish :D

  • I think even vegetarians are allowed to make exceptions on Thanksgiving. Just have a large salad or something with it to cancel it out.

  • Hahah, this Thanksgiving, my brother and I ended up having veggie burgers at my grandmother's because she was all "Oh don't worry I've got something for you guys too!" And it was veggie burgers :P hehehe.

  • I'm sure the tofurkey was delicious!

  • I am not a vegan or a vegetarian, but I also am not that into turkey. Sooo...I had a veggie wrap yesterday. Was delicious, and a turkey lived to see another day. You go Wil. Never had tofurkey, but if you like it... YAY! (Besides..leaves more room for pumpkin pie!)

  • why would you post something like this? I know it's supposed to be a joke but surely you're just perpetuating the thought that vegans and vegetarians don't have a good time during the holidays cause they're not tucking into a huge dead animal?

  • @SweetPeaM It is a joke. Obviously you don't have a sense of humor. Get over yourself. He wouldn't be a vegetarian if he didn't want to be one and he said nothing about not having a good time. What a way to end your Thanksgiving…by being snarky. Maybe next year someone should save another Turkey’s life and stuff and roast you instead. #Iknowthisisnttwitterbutjusthadtohashtagthefactthatpeoplearestupidsometimes

  • @ElisabethinCA

I acknowledged it was supposed to be a joke but I still don't think it's a helpful thing to do. It's like saying 'OMG! That's SOO GAY!'. turning round and saying it's a joke doesn't negate the fact that you're implying that something is inherently wrong

  • @ElisabethinCA

I acknowledged that this is supposed to be a joke but I still don't think it's a helpful thing to do. As far as I'm concerned, it's not unlike saying 'That's SOO GAY!'. Just cause you turn round and say it's a joke afterwards doesn't make it ok since you're still reinforcing the idea that something can be inherently wrong

  • Hey, somebody has to kill and eat the plants, right?

  • TOFURKEY? I thought it was a Tofuhaggis dude.

  • @FILMMAKERCHAP Oh, now you've done it. In at least one bubble universe, TOFHAGGIS exists, and I am eating it right now.

  • @wilwheaton ha ha you must admit it looks like a big one..could likely do with some "neeps and tatties" as the scots say...

  • @wilwheaton they have vegetarian hagis. it exists in this universe

  • Go to the shops and buy a large plastic turkey and stuff your tofu turkey inside it!

  • Comment removed

  • Solidarity Wil. You're doing the right thing.

  • Just fill your brain with thoughts of a meat industry filling animals with unnatural amounts of hormones and eat your tofurkey with pride. Even though you can find a bird from a local farm that's a product of good practice and better quality. If you really wanted. :|

  • TOFURKEY!!!!!! The dumplings is the bomb yo!

  • @simbeau I love the dumplings! By some confusing mixup we ended up having the tofurky version without them. It was a sad thanksgiving. :( lol

  • Billy Bob Thornton was saying the SAME thing the other night on Lopez Tonight. :-D

  • Yes, it really, really does :P Christmas, too, because my family makes THE BEST looking ham (and from what I remember, it tasted pretty amazing). Thankfully, my mom makes stuffing that makes me forget turkey even exists :P

  • Oh come on, yours is.....you know... uhm... sorry I love turkey and can`t defend your tofurkey with the glorious bird laying by it`s side :( My friend`s a vegetarian an swears tofurkey is great, I`ll have to try it some day.

    @FatMatt426 LMAO

  • It doesn't help that the turkey takes up most of its pan, while the tofurkey and potato chunks might fill up half of its pan. Presentation matters, people.

  • If being a vegetarian sucks, than don't be a vegetarian.

  • @xglamaholicx Right, because anytime anything is hard to do, but you believe in it, you should quit because there are bad parts about that thing. Just quit, kids!

  • @xglamaholicx He only said it sucks on Thanksgiving, not that it sucks in general. If he and his wife are happy with it every other time of the year, then it's not so bad, yes?

  • god help you

  • I tried tofurkey on my first veggie thanksgiving, and it was kinda meh. Now I just make sure we have spectacular sides! This year: bit.ly(slash)fWOpCc . May not look like much in the pic, but the vegetables au gratin, from-scratch stuffing, and savory butternut squash were incredible! Hope the rest of your meal was yummy!

  • Happy Unappealing Blob Day!

...it doesn't really have the same ring to it, does it?

  • I never have a real turkey to compare it to, so my tofurkey always looks and tastes excellent, with no real birds to show it up.

  • LMAO, best vid yet

  • HAHA thats what you get for being a vego

  • Mmmm, Turturkeykey.

Too bad Thanksgiving was like a month ago. Hope you're enjoying yours now. ;)

  • Uhm - don't be for one day? I mean, the Turkey's killed and cooked anyways...

  • Was that a tribble?

  • Funny! :] Happy Thanksgiving! :] Maybe you can nibble on the neck and heart. :]

  • That small thing is a tofurkey?!

    - Jason

  • Oh wow, I didn't know you were a vegetarian. I didn't think it was possible, but I love you so much more now.

  • It looks like a giant onion =\ my sister's a vegetarian too. I can't imagine myself being one though it's very noble =x

  • I think I love he and she. Check out the PETA's banned Thanksgiving day commercial and you'll be thankful that you don't have to eat "chemicals, dirt , and poop," and "and thank you for rainbows". :)

  • I didnt even know such a thing as a "Tofurkey" existed... and that it was edible... it sounds more like some suburban slang for fool.

  • I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you over the obscene amounts of formerly gobbling turkey that I am stuffing into my body. Try again in 3 weeks when I awaken from my food coma.

    Keep being awesome Wil!

  • Genuinely its a big damn thing

  • It is the LEAST vegetarian friendly day of the year. I had veggie fajitas for Thanksgiving...

  • The solution is simple! Be an omnivore!

  • Happy thanksgiving! HUGS!

  • tofurkey? i thought it was a big round potato...

  • Is it me or is Wil starting to look more and more like Jonathon Frakes?

  • @omenmedia 'I don't know the resemblance is rather striking. Wouldn't you agree Number one?'

  • @omenmedia And Frakes is starting to look like Patrick Stewart.

  • I thought birds *were* vegetables! o_O

  • I've always wanted to try Tofurky, despite it looking like some sort of mutant haggis.

  • I love that the veggie "turkey" is put together to look like a real turkey.

  • Tofurky rocks! If you don't want it, send it to me!

  • What if you shove that into a meat turkey and deep fry it? Are you really a pig, but a vegetarian at heart?

  • @Quidon88 Maybe your a TurkeyTarian?!

  • So... Why are you vegetarian?

  • The best thing about being a vegetarian or being on a diet, is that every once in a while it won't kill you to break it.

For instance I don't eat beef, but every once in a couple months or so it doesn't kill me to eat a cheesesteak.

  • There are some delicious veggie turkey recipes online. You can make a nice big plump delicious bird with no birds involved! Yummm... :)

  • Very good! Funy!

  • Also, by 2015, The Vegetarian's Lament will involve 16 people and take 27 minutes.

    :D

  • Aww Im SURE there are brilliant Veggie and vegan recipes you could try!

  • if you like meat, eat meat. i'm just sayin.

  • That is the cutest arrangement of non-turkey vegetables. :)

  • Hahahah oh look at you, trying to do grumpyface! My condolences, veggie, but it IS self-imposed. Happy thanksetcetera. (I'm British, I can't say it without feeling a bit wrong.)
