  • I am a very allergic personne(not asthmatic), I get in the cat breeder house for more than an houre, I played with their siberian cat and I had no reaction at all!

So I will have my own siberian kitty in two week, I am very happy! I can not wait...

  • You will not find them in rescue for "adoption" but you will find them for sale from many breeders. I also breed them and my cattery name is Puncia Cats. You can google my cattery.

  • i would like a siberian cat but my dad is a asshole and wont let me have one because he thinks its gonna be expensive and there gonna ruin the furniture. if anyone has some tips about this problem then let me know cause i really wanna convints him to get me that cat

  • @FrediAndFred get a siberian cat from the newspaper or an orphanage. for the furniture problem siberians are not the typical scratchy play type. they usually lounge around like mine....but if it does become a problem go to walmart or store like that and buy a cardboard scratch board then put some cat nip on it. this only costs about $6.00 and they work amazingly well... also get an adult cat they are usually cheaper...

  • @FrediAndFred wait until you get your own place then get whatever you want. I have one. He doesn't scratch anything but the scratching post. All cats can scratch...just train them with a squirt gun. Good Luck.

  • @FrediAndFred you don't deserve anything from your dad if you're gonna call him that :(

  • @yariyahaira: Yes, they tend to shed a lot of hair.

  • So cute. I plan to own one of these gorgeous cats by the end of the year.

  • About how much do these cats cost?

  • @TheKayKayKid I would like to know this too!

  • @TheKayKayKid Between $800 and $1000. They are highly sought after right now due to it's hypo-allergenic trait due to cat lovers ability to own one and non be allergic to them. They are not cheap by any means and $800 is the cheapest that I have found.

  • @rsa12985 damn >.<

  • @demianslab i'm sorry but had a siberian cat for more than a decade + i lived in a country relatively close to russia and there was quite a few siberian cats living outside and they were doing just fine. As much as character goes most siberians are active, quite independent...... but yeah long hair getting everywhere is annoying

  • @demianslab I had a siberian cat for many years and it was a complete opposite of yours. She was very active, hunted everything that moves (and sadistically killed it (im serious)). She was very independent, and aggressive towards everyone except me and few other people (very guard dog like in terms of interactions with other people). As far as survival goes siberian cats mainly live outdoors (in russia etc. and they are doing just fine) domesticated ones don't always like being outside though.

  • I want a siberian cat soooooo badly :( /cry

  • @xcstacy2 me 2. :(

  • "sabeereean caat"

  • These cats vary in price from around $600 in the Midwest US to several thousand dollars on the coasts. It depends on where you live, but you can find reasonable pricing and reputable breeders to buy from

  • gawddd russian make us pay alottt, i went online and they were like $3,000 plus. But since they have a water proof coat and a hypoallergenic fur and they r dog like and stuff, it probaly would be worth while ;D

  • I have one so haha all of you!!

  • I have one siberian and she is a silver female who just turned 3 years old. this is the best cat breed around and the most beautiful cat breed in the world. they are the perfect cat for anyone who is allergic or suffers even the slightest bit from cat allegies. we got one because our mother is allergic to dogs, cats, rabbits, and hamsters, along with my brother, and she worked out wonderfully. my mom has found that she is reacting less to other animals she is allergic to. they do shed so brush!

  • my siberian literally is the boss of the cats around my area.she is so territorial any cats that come into my garden get chased out quick

  • a "hypoallergenic" breed animal does not shed and need to get a trim every now and then because of it.

  • @o0Tamaki0o zActually do your research. The allergen is a protein in the saliva, and this gets on their fur since the clean themselves with their tongue. Even hairless cats can still give allergic reactions. Female, silver Siberian cats are supposedly the most naturally-hypoallergenic domestic cats.

All hypoallergenic means is that it is less likely to cause an allergic reaction to the allergen, so don't quote it, it is a quite simple word....

  • No Offense to Russian's, in fact i am part Russian, but i want to get one, and name it Nikita, and have it listen to the Russian national anthem all the time... Oh the dream :)

  • Im looking to buy one of these but i was wondering if whether or not they shed alot and how much they usualy cost as kittens

  • My grandma is allergic but i still wanna get one! there hypoallerginic anyways

  • I have 2!!!!

  • is it just me or does this guy sound like Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight.. ?

  • I love this breed. I have a Siberian cat here in Moscow. I can say that he is "a real cat" - proud, independent, clever.

  • its TICA not TEKA haha

  • I had 9 siberians and haven't had any problems with allergies. I recently adopted out 4 of them. It's amazing how may people want theses cats. I still have people calling, texting and e-mailing for availble cats.

  • I have an allergy to cats and I had a Siberian that I never had a reaction with. He was orange and white and a total chilled out lapcat. I recommend them to anyone wanting a chill cat that doesn't claw everything and go nuts. He was a quiet cat unless he was hungry. He made it all the way to 15 years, and I had to put him down due to an intestinal tumor. Nikki was my bud. I hope you all find a cat as cool as mine was.

  • they are the second fav cat on my list, the first is the Egyption Mau for 2 reasons, 1 is because im EGPYTION XDDD and second because they are cute and friendly :)

  • excuse me but do they shed a lot of hair?

  • yes

  • @yariyahaira not really: although they do shed in the spring and fall.

  • @yariyahaira no, just twice a year, so they might not need as much shedding attention as another species would.

  • @yariyahaira I've had mine since it was about a month old and it's almost a year old. Shedding never has been a problem with Kiev (the cat's name is Kiev) and so I don't think that they as a breed shed very often (my family has never seen Kiev shed at all)

  • @yariyahaira

    Siberian cats do shed :)

but not as much as other cats, they shed very few despite their very long hair.

Grooming on a daily basis is importaint for the cat, and yes even though it does not shed alot you should atlest groom your cat Twice a week :D

    Hope i helped ^^

  • @yariyahaira the hair is not but for the allergies however they lost a lot of hair so you just have to be clean

  • @yariyahaira they do, thats why some people are still allergic. some people are allergic to CATS. so that fel d 1 shiz makes them allergic, which is in the saliva, and goes on the fur and yeah. that causes a reaction. but myself, i am not allergic to cats, im allergic to FUR. so dog fur, cat fur, monkey fur, any fur. so the siberian would most likely cause some reaction, cuz it sheds a shit load. my only options are the hairless ones. which are actually my faves <33

  • @yariyahaira Yep

  • @yariyahaira Lets just say they are high maintenaince

  • @yariyahaira No, they do not shed a lot. They are seasonal shedders and in the sprind "blow" out their winter coat, so the rest of the year they do not shed much. Good diet helps with that as well, which is why feed our Siberians a raw meat diet.

  • Are these cats good for allergy sufferers? I am emigrating to the UK soon and I would like to get one. How are they, I mean temperament wise I heard they are like dogs which is good. Let me know about anything important about them. Thanks.

  • We got a Siberian in December because my husband is allergic to cats, and since we got her my husband has been experiencing chronic rhinitis despite my best efforts to clean frequently, bathe the cat, keep her out of the bedroom, and my husband's daily allergy pills and nasal spray. So I recommend that anyone considering buying one because of allergies go and spend plenty of time around them before investing in one. Our cat is absolutely lovely, though, and it's a great breed and so beautiful.

  • are his allergies to your siberian less severe than to othercats?

  • Maybe a little, his eyes don't seem to be quite so bothered by her, but not substantially. I don't want to rain on anyone's hopes of having a cat, but it's a bit of a bummer when you adopt a terrific cat and then find that you may have to give them up.

  • Yea, we went for a visit before we bought our little baby. My husband's usually stuffed up as soon as he walks through the door of a cat house. When we were there an hour and nothing happened we were convinced. Also, none of our friends who have cat alllergies have reacted to him. Except one womman who is usually deathly alleric; to our siberian she hardly reacted at all.

you said you adopted rather than buying? is there a chance that your cat is a cross or do you have her papers?

  • Oh, yeah, my mistake - we bought her from Crystal Siberians in MN, and we have her papers - so she's certainly a pure-bred. All of our friends who are cat allergic and have visited us have had pretty strong reactions to her.

We also visited the cattery prior to buying, and my husband had only a very mild reaction there after an hour. But he was already sneezing a bit in the car when we were bringing the kitten home. Next we're going to try allergy shots, anything to keep her our girl!

  • @EmilyMaija Not all Siberian lines have low levels of this allergen. Some lines have very low levels, some not as much. Some lines have also had the occasional other breed mixed in to keep the gene pool healthy.

  • I was also allergic to cats since I turned 25 until a couple years ago when we got our Siberian. I was still allergic to her, so I visited my favorite acupuncturist for treatment. Since then, no problems! Should have been treated much sooner and I could have saved a lot of money on allergy meds.

  • We have 2 Siberians cat. I got them because my fiance is allergic and I grew up with cats and HAD to have cats! I'm so SO glad this breed exists. He hasn't had any problems with them and we've been through all the seasons of the year incident free. They are a very healthy breed, and did anyone mention... they are GORGEOUS!!!! Prettiest cat breed I have ever seen. Amazingly smart, curious about water, high jumpers. Best investment ever!

  • we have 2 male siberian in UK....incredible breed and fantastic companions....i am allergic to cats...but not siberians.

  • I am a breeder of this wonderful cat in the UK, where many cat 'allergic' people now have a kitten(or even 2) and live happily together...even though nothing scientific has been proven with regards to being hypo-allergenic, the breed itself is proving they are many times over....making so many families all over the world very happy that now they can have a cat in their home! I adore the breed for being what it is, but this added extra just makes them even more special to me..and to many others!

  • there was a study done in the US somewhere that tested fur samples and found that siberians only had something like 200 ppm of FVL 1 compared to something like 60 000 ppm in an ordinary cat.

  • Hey where do you breed them? Location I mean because I am emigrating to England and in a few years time I plan to buy a female Siberian as I am allergic to cats. I'll be in the South East but I don't mind travelling up North or anywhere because I love Siberians. What colors do you have and how is their temperament? Maintenance levels etc.? I feel fortunate to have searched Siberian cats on YouTube now.

  • Have you moved to England & found a Siberuian yet?
