So, I plug the headphones in the computer but when I start playing, I hear both decks in my headphones and nothing in speakers. It should be that you listen just to the right deck and both decks (outcome) is produced in speakers... IF YOU HELP ILL SUBSCRIBE TO YOUR CHANNEL PLEASEEEEE

  • @lm9696productions your gonna need to configure the sound settings of vdj to dual soundcard in the audio config. use the mixer soundcard as main, and laptop as preview or reverse to your liking. :)

  • I have an important question ... Is an amp needed to use speakers cant i just plug the 1/4 inch cables into the back without and amp ???

  • @RaadioTv i think if you want to get any sound out of the speakers (im guessing that they are PA speakers) then you will need an amp, because its just not enough power to just plug them in

but to tell you the truth its just kind of a shot in the dark for me

  • Kanye in the background....awesome. :)

    Good video to man!

  • Why do you need a soundcard

  • @DeAdLy321ViRuS

    standard sound cards often suck

  • Very very good but i want to see your foul scale dj set

  • LOL CAMERA TO MIXER!

Hahahaha thanks you made my day! :D

  • real savy and I think will make for fun project which will allow me to build a little studio at home utilizing my laptop thanks..................................great video

  • where do you connect your earphones?

  • hey bro does my mixer need to have phono inputs too or no?

  • great

  • lol @ camera! 0:09

  • you sound like fez

  • I recommend a Behringer BCD 3000 for this, if you're going for the cheap. The BCD 3000 already has a soundcard built in, 2 pairs of phono/line inputs, 1 pair of phono booth outputs, and, best of all, it works both as a MIDI controller and stand alone turntable mixer. you can buy these off e-bay used for like $60 to $70 used...$100 to $120 new.

  • is your mixer with turntables??? and is your computer have a soft ware for the music

  • Liked the way you explained the setup. Pretty cool!

  • hey man doing this setup i get a buzzing chime sound from my speakers. i noticed that it gets this noise cus of two sources connected.

  • hey man doing this setup i get a buzzing chime sound from my speakers.

  • or u can buy a USB Sound Card Adaptor at amazon for 2$ and that work great too lol

  • cool stuff ...thanks for that great infor i must say it was very very helpful..

  • cool stuff ...thank for thats great infor very very helpfull..

  • dont copy ellaskinz!!

  • I need help!! I am going to buy a Hercules RMX console which im goin to connect to my laptop!! then i connect my console to my Behringer VMX200 mixer, then my mixer to my amplifier and then my amplifier to the speakers.. is that correct?? and btw wat amplifier or speakers would you suggest?? PLZ I AM DESPERATE!!!!!

  • can't you just use a headphone splitter and get 2 1/8 inputs instead of the UCA202? Then simply hook up the rca cables to the mixer?

  • @ChrisVirrueta1 splitters split stereo so only 1 out of the 2 phono inputs will recieve input

  • @ChrisVirrueta1 no u cant bc doing that will still give u one out put even thou u have it split bc u need a interface to really have 2 differnt output and the uca202 it's a interface to do that...

  • Is the audio interface the same/replaceable with an external audio card such as Roland UA series or M-Audio Fast Track?

  • What type of amp should i buy? my budget is like upto $100, i just want to DJ at family parties so nothing big :) please help

  • I have a similar basic setup: Laptop, mixer, and numark dj IO. Just wanted to confirm the IO is another suitable sound card to split two channels for this set up/diagram!

    Thanks

  • Bro i have the same laptop and the usb audio card

  • I have an american audio vms 4 and a mac and an amp. how do i connect em up to start djing?

I dont know what to connect what with. please help out soon.

  • I use a Ground loop isolator (VW43W) to clean up the sound from my old dell laptop Earphone out socket, either to any old amplifier or any mixer , works great, available from maplins

  • ay i hope ur on diz right now i have a ? for you uhh can i use the behringer uca 202 to connect from my Gemini CDM-3700G to my laptop to use with virtual dj?

  • <3333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333 you so much thanks a million

  • what if you go laptop straight to speakers? Is that safe? Is the sound quality good?

  • @DjBobbyLosAngeles - you can't go laptop straight to speakers, you have to first go to an amplifier (unless speakers are self-powered). Go from the laptop to a mixer, and then to the amplifier and then to the speakers.

  • where do the headphones go?

  • hey can i play music from my laptop to my mixer to speakers without a amplifier? plz answer!!! :)

  • @drummerdog80 - no, you need an amplifier UNLESS you buy a set of POWERED SPEAKERS that have an amplifier built in, which is how most DJ's are doing it lately.

  • so you dont need the cd decks and all that stuff right man?? just labtop and dj mixer right? and soundcard?

but you could hear the other song on deck b on the headphones right so you could make the mix?

    sorry to much question

    great video mate

  • @muerto2005 - right, you don't need CD decks; the DJ software is set up so that if you use 2 soundcards (1 is inside the laptop, the 2nd is an external soundcard connected with USB), you will be able to have a mp3 playing on one player and the second player is only heard in the headphone.

  • im new at this, but do u need a phsyical mixer if ur using a virtual dj one? good vid

  • do you have to get a audio interface in order to connect your lap top to your mixer?

  • ok i have a macbook pro...if i buy a mixer am i good to go?

or do i need other stuff?

  • @safcftmtid - you need the mixer and you also need an external soundcard.... if you want to be able to hear one song in your headphones while the other song is being played to your audience.

  • can you use the input as a output so you have to output on the behringer uca202? :D

  • @haksik95 Nope. 1 input and 1 output only.

  • Did you just plug it in and made windows recognize it or did you use the driver software or did you download asio4all ? I want numark MM to recognize it from the first time, just bought it

  • Thank you for your help. Do you know qhat is the best mixer for laptops.

  • Hola!!

Podrías hacer lo mismo pero en español?

  • What if I only want to hook up my headphones and my speakers to the laptop without using an external mixer? The problem is that my laptop has only one audio jack. What should I do to create another audio jack?

  • @AdobeExcel dont use the audio jack on ur computer, computer sound cards are crap, very low quality. get a usb audio interface, native instruments makes great ones. numark also has a cheap one called dj io

  • hey. can you connect a numark cdj in a box on a laptop??

  • Can You Connect a turtable to the behringer and mixer then to speakers

does the behringer work as a sound card or no??? Help Me Please Ty :)

  • what does the uca202 do again? make it simple as possible. What if my laptop already has two earphone jack?

  • @nightfire4107 for one...it will give you less feed back than running the music thru your headphone jack. makes the music come out cleaner as well. also, good if you are using a cd turntable for time coded cds. I use it to simply play music on a list. it is a great soundcard that is dirt cheap as well.

  • @djmrnelson what if i have a controller than already has a sound card? also do you know if any mixer can play through the computer...?

  • @nightfire4107 checkout my video you'll see what it does.

  • Good guide thanks :)

  • It helps to use noise filter (very cheap) between Laptop and Mixer line in, as you can get power supply noise on the laptop line out.

  • man buen video pero pero me sirve todo eso en un dmm4000 behringer me ayudarias let me know

  • hola ese

the easiest solution is to use USB mixer. you can plug two separate USB audio inputs and that way you don't need a separate soundcard

  • it sounds like you are inside the church while the Pasteur is having his speech..

  • omg havent heard pinocio story in ages

  • amm i need an AMP for the monitors ????

or i cant without AMP ?

  • Yo Carlos, how do I connect UCA202 with Serato? Are you familiar with using Audocity?

  • Sorry im more confused now, look closely at your pic.

If your using a mixer there should be 4 connections.

    1- Audio Chan 1 - input.

    2- Audio Chan 2- input.

    3- Headphone- output.

    4- Master - output.

  • What mixer do you use?

An mp3 one I take it?

Im hoping to buy a Hercules DJ Control MP3 E2 to mix some oldskool house.

This vid has cleared up some Behringer UCA202 possiblities for me.

  • how would i connect uca202 to cdm3600 gemini to my laptop help please.

  • i need some help...i use the virtual dj i am going to buy a behringer dx626!

i already have a usb sound card terratec mkII 5.1!

i want to ask you if i can connect them all together as you showed and if they work proper...

should i get a usb mixer(most expensive unfortunatelly) for better combination with the software??

    thanks for your time...

  • one to channel 1 and then one rca to channel 7? i dont get it, why not channel 2 ...

  • hey pal.are u saying that it is possible to use just only a mixer and a laptop without 2 cd players?n is the behringer sound card really necessary?what if i just connect a mixer into a laptop?whats the difference?

  • @shayschopp You need Two audio channels to mix on your mixer. 1 channel each per deck on your PC.

  • @shayschopp Buy A Usb Mixer. use it as your soundcard/ mixer BUT YOU CANNOT USE IT FOR TIMECODE

  • @shayschopp - I use this method when I DJ. I don't bring any CD players at all. I use 1 laptop; wire from earplug jack into channel 1 of mixer.... connect your external soundcard to your laptop with USB. The external soundcard will have several "outs" connect 1 of them to the mixer into channel 2. If you need to, you can also connect a mic or ipod (for backup) into channel 3. Then connect the master output from the mixer to your amp and you're done. Configure dj software for 2 SC's

  • What brand amp do u have? And how much?

  • @jlaudio1818 I use Mackie 2500 and Behringer 2500. The Mackie goes for $500 and the Behringer for about $350

  • @jlaudio1818 - I use an old school Integrated Amplifier, no it's not a "DJ" amp and I only paid $40 for it, but it has NEVER failed me and i'm talking about playing nonstop for 8 hours at near top levels. It's a KLH-500 (circa 1983) silver face. I've been tempted to go and get a Crown or QSC... but why? Mine is doing fine.

  • you would be better off using a soundcard with 4 outputs, using the onboard soundcard is dodgy as fuck.

however I would NOT reccommend the maya44 usb, ive had nothing but problems.

  • I think you don't need the 'earphone out' of the laptop, audioquality there is maybe not so good. With an audio interface like I use - 'Audio Kontrol' by Native Instruments (I use it with TRAKTOR, all other DJ programs can be used too, other labels provide +- the same kind of multichannel audio interface ) - you have different channels to go out with, to your mixing desk and headphone - or as I often do it - directly to the main amplifier, that provides best soundquality.

  • @subwave You sure have an expensive toy to brag about! For $249 USD, you can buy at least 5 or 6 of those Behringer interfaces. They can live together connected in the same computer if you choose so (and provided you have enough USB connectors), and if you're a DJ, you''re not gonna need features like Microphone Input, MIDI, and free synthesizers. Your interface is better suited for small recording projects, dude.

  • okay i got everything down but for the turntables(i have 2), i connect the ground from one of the turntables to my mixer and the rca from the turntable into the behringer rite?

  • I was looking a the Dj|io and was wondering if you could you use it to output the two channels to your mixxer?

  • finally a video that makes sense. cheers!

  • Virtual dj

  • what audio program do you use for your computer?

  • If i needed to put in a ground loop insulator where would i put it in this setup ???

    please help ???

  • You can also use Virtual DJ and use a stereo spitter ($3.00/each at wal-mart). This way you only need ONE soundcard (the laptop built-in one) and a mixer. both of your left's go to one channel and both right's go to another channel. It's not stereo sound, but it's the cheap way out.

  • you are a fucking genius

  • thanks for the vid man!

you do a great job zooming in on the parts of the diagram that you're talking about!

Super easy to follow! I hope you keep making these vids!

    Cheers

  • hi i need some help as i am buying the Hercules DJ Control Steel and also a preview device so i am buying the behringer 202 like the one in this video and was wondering how i would set it up so i mix with the steel and the master is from the 3.5 stereo mini jack and use the behringer for a preview. how would you achieve this? thanks in advance

  • use a cheap 5 pound or 5 dollar usb soundcard then you get the setup for cheaper.

  • The drawing it make it so easy. Thanks!!!!

P.S Do you know if the computers memory/ram and ghz matters to not effect the song output?

  • Hi Carlos,

It is quite a set up you put together.

I too like to tinker with cables, I have a question for you, I have an old Toshiba turntable that needs a pre-amp with RCA connections, can you advise me, I would like to know how wire it up with usb connections to download to my PC.

    Thanks

    DJ DeJesus

  • nice vid bro

  • can i use the output jack of the uca 202 rather than its earphone jack?

  • hey carlos can i use 2 uca 202 rather than the soundcard from laptop, how? pls show me. pls help....

  • if u wanted to use turntables with the mixer instead could u just hook them up like u would witout the laptop?

  • do you need a certain mixer or no

  • Any Mixer should work!

  • Hi Carlos, is it possible to use the input chanel as outputchanel..i mean does it work??

so i can get 2 outputs insted of 1 out and 1 in.

  • No Dice, 1 input, 1 output only, some software lets you use each channel in mone...therfore 2 channels...other wise nope!

  • Ive been trying to run my mixer line out into my laptop microphone in and its not sounding good at all. Do I need the audio interface 202.?

  • Not to not, Check the Gain on your mixer and whatever software you are recording too... Microphone ins also have ground issues from the little I know...The UCA202's main purpose is to record so im sure itll work or at least improve sound quality.

  • do you have to have a mixer or can u just connect it straight to your laptop?

  • hey my laptop works good with my numark 950 but as soon as i plug my lap top to keep,it charge it makes a bad noise anybody give a tip im going from my earphone to my mixer thank u

  • go on amazon and search for a grounding cable

  • GRACIAS CARLOS. fabian desde argentina

  • can some help me .. i got ppl wanting me 2 dj on a radio forum .. but problem is my laptop only has 2 small plug in sections one for the mic, and one for the headphones . (if needed im using the djm 600) .. so is there any way i can connect it? hope someone can help

  • How would you compare the behringer as an output compared to a PCMCIA sound like a sound blaster XFI? It's more of a convenience thing for me so that I don't have the Behringer dangling around and stuff. The optical thing woudl be cool though. I wonder if that device will allow you to use the optical out WHILE at the same time using the LINE IN RCA. Let me know what you think? Gracias mang!! ;)

  • I have used the line out and line in simultaneously with no hitch... I would prefer a PC Sound Card Except I use a laptop so Im limited to my laptops offering (USB)

  • nice vid i might do this

beats buying a 50 doller sound card

  • can you plug it into any behringer mixer

  • you can connect it to any 2 channel mixer, Keep in mind this is a method to get 2 audio sources, this wont give you any mixer to pc type of control...all your mixer options/fx etc. will work just fine

  • Carlos, este dispositivo no utiliza drivers, como estoy seguro de que mi adobe audition lo va a reconocer. Y este puede ser usado con windows vista ///////// Carlos, this device doesnt use drivers, how can i know that my adobe audition will renognize it. And can it be used with windows vista??... Gracias / Thanks

  • lo poco que se es que cuando lo instale con vista no trabajo bien hasta que instale un "asio" driver disponible por windows y un driver disponible por behringer, desde entonces no he tenido problemas y el behringer simepre es reconozido...

  • you dont need 2 sound cards tho if you have a surround sound card just use 2 splitters on front and back lines then set vdj to 4.1 and connect to left and right channel on mixer then your away

  • hey dodger6936 im looking to buy a soundcard right now cause i cant afford to buy any more records and stuff i have two questions that if you could answer would be awesome is the the sound card your using good? and just to make sure if i use this soundcard i will be able to play music from my computer on my vinyl turntables with timecode vinyls?

  • How do i setup my mixer and 2 decks to my computer (which is hooked up to a amp and my speakers r running off my amp), I just got 2 behringer UFO202 not 100% sure on how to set it up??

  • Hi Dodger6936!

I also do VD5, but i have a question. I want to mix, so i got a 2 channel mixer, but i'm confused, because it is not midi controlled or anything. Do i really need a midi controller as all the sites say, or can your plan with only the cables also work?

    Great vid by the way!

  • The UCA202 takes care of the audio portion of your setup. The midi part is for your software. If you don't have a software controller then program your keyboard as best as possible while you practice. I use the Numark DMC2 software controller. A mixer mixes sound, a controller controls your software!

  • Thanks dude

I'm still a noob in dj-world, so i start slow with a simple mixer. In a few months i think i get a Behringer 2000/3000 midi controller

  • Hi Dodger6936!

i'm been running Virtual DJ too, but as i was only using the laptop's single headphone socket with split RCA's out, i was connected to and only using 1 channel. I've now bought a Behringer UCA202 and set it up as in your diagram------------VDJ recognises the UCA202 , but i have no sound off the channel it's connected to!! ---did you install asio drivers etc----------------can you post your VDJ configuration set up here? Thanks.

  • I installed the ASIO driver from behringer (available online at beringer website) If Im not mistaken I also installed an ASIO update for Vista from microsoft.

    Configuration Note:

Choose 'External Mixer' under the 'sound' tab of configuration menu. In the following drop box choose 2 sound cards, in the next two tabs assign 1 card to each player. Since my earphone ack is in the right I assign that sound card two my 2nd player.

  • Thanks Dodger6936, i'll give that a go!

  • what kind of windows on your laptop are you using.

  • Windows Vista 32 Bit W/ VDJ 5.0

  • Never use earphones connections, it will sound rubbish.

You should invest in a decent USB Soundcard such as the Numark DJIO / Maya 44.

  • @Maxsdiscos Maya 44 ain't perfect either. There are at-least 3 vids(maybe more) with problems. With Maya, it's all about luck. Other than that bad latency, choppy sound. :(

  • When my Soundcard has 2 Outputs (for 2 Channels) I don't must use the Earphone output? :)

  • If i have 2 turntables and a mixer

do i need 2 sound cards?

and can i run it on virtual dj?

    Please Reply ASAP!

    thanks......

  • maya 44 usb

  • i want to start dj'ing, whats the best laptop and mixer to use??

  • Great video! so can i hook up my cdj 400 with my laptop ?

  • you can hook up your laptop to a mixer, in this scenario the laptop takes the role of two cdj-400's...You might want to look into the UCA202 and timecode your cdj 400 on Virtual DJ...Ill make a video about that soon, subscribe so you dont miss it

  • Nice solution! May I ask you for further assistance? I want to connect my notebook to my mixer, but I only need one signal. From your setup, which one do you feel is better? Using the earphone socket or the usb with UCA202?

    Thanks!

  • Id use the earphone socket. Only 1 cable needed so probably more reliable.

  • Hey, i just wanted some advice, i cant find it on the internet anywhere!! If i was to buy a normal cd dj package, dj deck turntable could i connect them both together so i could use the cd dj package to get the sound to use on the turntables? also, how can i connect my laptop to the cd dj package to get music from my laptop onto the cd package? Please reply asap!! thanks

  • quick question....

why don't you use both outputs on the uca202 instead of just one and your laptop soundcard??

  • I do do this sometime Im just hesitant to lose the stereo option.

  • Great Video. Very imformitive

  • Cheers for the quick reply. I'm pretty sure the UCA202 will work as some other videos on youtube show it using one for each timecode - i was just wondering if it was possible with one and the headphone out...

  • thats news to me!

  • Hi! Thanks for this tutorial, looks like a nice easy way of using a mixer without having to get a digital one. Do you know if this set up would work using timecode vinyls? So put the turntables into the inputs of the bca202 then out separatley?

    Cheers - Ali

  • Vinyl Timecode is usually ran through a decoder box (final scratch/serato/conectiv) that does the work for you and has the necessary audio outputs coming from your computer. Theyre usually dual stereo outputs which is enough for two vinyls or two sound sources relative to this video. I doubt the UCA202 works as a decoder only as a sound card dilio!

  • hey how is the sound quality on that behringer?

  • hey :) i'm using one sound card for each channel, but when i move the crosfader or the other switches and buttons on the mixer, the computer doesn't detect them ... so the sound comes out allright but if i want to record the mix via my computer or use the mixer as a midi controller, it doesn't work... help PLEASEE :))

  • I was thinking about getting pcdj dex and i was wondering if you have to use a mixer or if you can just scratch and play with the songs on your laptop with the software only...i dont know anything bout dj stuff

  • Scratching is a a totally different story but you might want to look into DJ SOftware Controllers (Behringer BCD 3000/ Numark Mixmeister Control) Software included for about the same price.

  • hey when i play music from my laptop through my mixer it seems to come out at a much lower volume initially than CDs. in other words i have to crank my system up to a higher level to get the music to the same volume that i would get from a CD. Is this normal?

  • try different inputs on your mixer, also make sure your NOT using the 'phono' on your mixer. How are you connecting your laptop to the mixer? (What type of connection? Are you using dj software?)

  • its going to the line input. im running scratch live. the connection is just a regular mini plug to RCA outputs. i dont have an audio interface or an external soundcard, im just running it from my internal soundcard. I really just wanted to see if it would play at all.

  • hey man great vid. thanks for helping out the online DJ community. So by doing what you described above i can still use all the functions of my mixer? I can still use my faders and crossfaders to mix songs?

  • Any Mixer Works By Giving You control over 1 or more independent audio signals. The trick here is getting more than 1 (2 or more) audio sources from your laptop. This is how serato/final scratch/Numark DJIO work, they have dual sound cards built into their consoles. Since your laptop already has 1 sound card then adding 1 more gives you 2. I got creative and used 1/8''-RCA Cables. Run each into a different channel and Done. Remember to assign each deck on your software to a different sound card.

  • 1 Sound card per audio signal coming from laptop, or a microphone into your mixer (Some mixers have a dedicated channel fro the microphone)
