I use a commercial grade acrylic paint and dyes on the surface with a mixture of liquid plastic to create depth to the surface and durability. In addition I put 6 to 8 coats of a tinted water based polyurethane over each layer followed at the end by three oil based poly coats. The actual physical depth of the surface reached 1/16 of an inch. The smoky look within the layers is caused by mixing the more fluid dyes over the acrylic paints creating the hazy effect in certain areas.

Since this Flooral will have a lot of of traffic , did you use any special brands of paint or protection ?
