  • Akita were used by hunters in northern Japan to track bear, not "take down" that's an old wives tale that needs to end. As a show dog owner/breeder you should know better than to say that crap about the Akita breed. Any size bear could easily kill an Akita with one swipe in an actual battle. Track, corner, shoot is how bear were hunted with our Akita's.

  • Aww, she reminds me of my baby! He's 8 and has the 'rising sun' on his back. I don't get why some people think they're 'really agressive'; he's fine so long as you don't get between me and him if he doesn't know you and even then he only growls.

  • i have one his name is oreo , funny thing his whole body is white and he has a black mask everyone always makes fun of him for it but he's deffinetly unique !!

  • I've had 3 of them. My favorite type of dog ever.

  • I will always have one of these... magnificent animals... hurrah!!!

  • theyyyyy areeeee soooooo cuteeeeeeeeee :D

  • Japanese Akita Inu is gorgeous and beautiful!

    Hachiko :)

  • @TheGimpsuit

They were bred in Japan for keeping a bear at bay while the hunter would shoot the bear. Usually 2 Akitas would keep a bear from running off.

  • I have an older Akita, how cold is too cold to leave him outside. I realize he has 2 coats but he is older now 12 years old. It is 50 degrees outside and my backyard is mostly concreted and shaded.

  • @Truthrevealed21 uhh...yeah if it's above -20 they're fine.

  • @Truthrevealed21 Above freezing (32 degrees) is fine for Akita's outside as long as they have a dog house with a bed inside. A flap on the dog house door to keep out the wind helps a lot.

My Akita hates to be inside with the heat set on 68... he begs to go outside and sleeps outside his insulated dog house, if its below freezing I'll usually MAKE him come inside.

  • How much are you supposed to feed an Akita? I have one and he is 12 years old and he is looking kind of fat these days.

  • i have a siberian husky , but i confess , akitas are awsome dogs

  • Hachiko :)

  • Agree on the behavioral characteristics claimed by the breeder here. My Akita is all those things. Very independent, dominant/agressive with other dogs and quite protective- he knocked down a 6ft wooden gate to see who was knocking at our front door once. I don't hunt with him but he can smell deer at least a 1/2 mile away. Doubt that even 2 trained argentinian dogos can take down a bear, much less 2 Akitas.

  • My akita knows im the pack leader, but just b/c ur pack leader doesnt mean you're always right, my akita taught me how to b a leader

  • ERROR: She said "..you are the MASTER"

biggest mistake in dog training ever, could even end up fatal.

Your dog is not your slave.

What she should of said was "you are the LEADER" big difference.

Your dog is your follower, and you are its pack leader.

DO NOT: Treat your dog as if tho its your slave.

  • @MrAsh01234 Wrong. They were often used as bear hunting dogs in Japan, and have grown to become very strong, skillful and methodical in bear hunting tactics.

  • 2 full grown akitas can take down a bear ? winne the pooh ? a grizzly bear wud kill them in 1 min

  • best dogs ever

  • I seen one of these kill a pitbull. The pit didnt stannd a chance.

  • Better than pets 101's attempt at explaining what the Akita is. Thumbs up from me!

  • They are damn expansive

  • @zfs391 Suck my dick.

  • @zfs391 Trololololol

  • i love my akita. he's great with our other small dog and great with puppies that r not his. he is one of my best dog friends.we r going to enter a show in october. Akita's r great dogs.

  • My akita died a week ago and what a wonderful dog to have. This video realy brought back some good memories.

  • ADVISE? :)

I live in a suburb near Toronto, CA... great weather, single house, medium sized backyard, and a GREAT park and soccer fields just literally two steps away from my house, always people and kids there.

We're finally thinking of getting a dog (one parent, two kids incl me -- 10 and 17) and we just fell in LOVE with Akitas!

We're not generally an active outdoors-y family, but we're willing to change our lifestyle to accomodate the dog! (as motivation! ♥)

    Is this a good idea?

  • @ricericebabyx Be sure to not only do your research homework, but do it with CARE and CAUTION. This is a BIG dog with a tendancy to bite strangers, and as you've heard, they were bred to be gaurdians. I highly recommend not letting random people pet your Akita, cuz if you do, charges may be pressed and you may not get to keep your friend. Train early and train often!! I would suggest visiting the "Dog Breed Info Center" online and look up "Akita". GREAT info will be provided there. Good luck ^.^

  • @ricericebabyx woah O..0 big bad toronto eh ? if ur gettin an akita you need to be out doors person, coz they love the out doors mines only part akita inu but he loves the out doors :P

  • 0:20 chicago bears?

  • I agree, mine is stubborn! He does what he wants, unless fenced in the backyard and there is nowhere else to go and what I am offering is a treat or something fun to do and there is nothing else to explore, or unless on leash or lead line. "I hear your commands, but right now I'd rather go look at this, or go chase that. I'll get back to you when I am feeling interested in what you have to say or show me."

  • re: shedding. They won't shed a single hair all winter. When spring heat hits, they shed the winter coat in clumps similar to cotton balls- all very collected and easy to pluck by hand (as it sticks out from the main coat.) The summer coat sheds hair by hair all summer, just like a lab or other dog, and thus leaves significant hair in all their favorites places in the house.

  • I have an akita and live in the mountains. It has been my observation that the akita is by birth VERY passionate about tracking large game, but do NOT take down or corner the game. What the akita does is run after the game, gets behind it enough to make the game want to get walking, trotting, or running, and then drives the game to you. Once the game sees you, it stops to assess you. Once it stops, your akita trots back to you and positions by your side, all without any cues or training.

  • Best Dogs ever. A gift from God. I miss my Nomi.

  • And yet they LOVE attention, mine are always up fora good belly rub, they are not needy though.

  • @scottieboy102 "not needy" got that right! Not a dog that follows you around the house saying "I love you and want to be right by you!"- at least mine is that way. Mine always wants to be on an adventure in yard play with me, on a walk, or somewhere else off property involving walking. He sulks when indoors or when outside and I am not playing with him.

  • The black mask does not come from interbreeding. There are a lot of false beliefs about the Akita. At the time of the breeds restoration there was quite a lot of variation in looks and size of the dogs found in the Akita prefecture. The best examples where chosen to restore the breed but there was disagreement and differing camps of thought on what the ideal Akita look was. American and Japanese Akitas are nothing but the result of selective breeding from this original stock, the Japanese being

  • my akitas took down a bear in my yard once, it was awful... last time i let anyone leave their stuff animals in my yard : )

  • my akita just pass away. It is amazing how much you can love one of this dogs

  • do american akita's like attention and are they affectionate and loving dogs?

and are they good for a one-person dog?

  • 0:42

She's saying black masked Akita is the original, and it's false.

Black masked Akita are hybrid between German Shepard and Akita. In Japan during the war time(Wiki), people were not allowed to have dogs, considered waste to feed them, except German Shepard and their mix for the military use.

Original Akita are white masked like you see in Hachiko.

  • I like how she said they only shed once a year.lol

  • I like how she said they only shed once a year.lol

  • The Japanese Akita is way better than the new American Akita...

  • @TheKALProductions I have to disagree that one is better than the other, both breeds are amazing dogs. I would love to have one of each breed. I already have the american and love him like nothin else.

  • @gc33 I didn't say they weren't both great breeds. I just personally prefer the Japanese-bred than I do the American-bred.

  • Are they good with cats? I was thinking about getting one but I have 3 kitties.

  • @pinkgun7 if they are socialized.

  • @pinkgun7

I have a akita whit 5 cats zo its oke ...

Olso because you take the dog as little in a cat house

Sorry for may bad writing skils

  • @Love19870 I understood you quite well. Thanks for the advise! :D

  • a hello what r the signs of atroubled dog o r an akita,,,

  • hello i want to know what is the price range for a six month old female akita,,

  • i had an Akita/lab cross a very large unfixed male. Extremely stubborn, but with miraculous strength and agility, he left me many a time in awe with jaw on the floor. Top speed was 50 kph, he'd run flat out and jump anything often clearing well over 10 feet. he could climb up the face of a cliff, trees, and swam in hard rapids, icy water and for enormous distances. he, too, was very dominant over other unfixed males. 2 dobermans attacked him and he easily knocked them flying, but he never bit

  • This video was actually pretty mis-informative... it did hit a few facts correctly but I'm surprised this is considered accurate.

  • @CrasieKitten The video was on the AMERICAN Akita... They were bred differently for whatever reason. The Japanese Akita (the TRUE Akita) is probably what you're thinking of.

  • @CrasieKitten I agree, a lot of inaccurate information or partial information. I have had Akitas, and I do not think two full grown Akitas can take down a bear. I think she is just repeating something she heard. A bear can disembowel a dog in a split second IF it decides to fight, sometimes bears just run away, especially the Blackies.

  • @40xmyke not a ero bear there have been breeds such as LGD's that were bred to kill bears :p

  • the right companion.... Odie..... what??? my dogs name is Odie!!

  • what a great video. thank you.

  • I just had to put my best friend down after almost 15 years of pure joy. One of the saddest days of my life. R.I.P. KEEDA.

  • my dogs name is Kato i luv him alot he was agift frm my son he is stubborn but all in all hes my akita ;-)

  • my akita is nearly 10 months old, and shes bigger then my 3 year old german shepard (golden/g. shepard mix) and she is much faster then him (probably because he has dispasia, but my dad thinks hes just lazy, so he wont le me take him to the vet)and she is just the sweetest dog ever, she wouldnt hurt a fly (my other would try, but ultimately fail)

  • wouldnt have any other breed now.....akita's are awesome

  • Whats better to own, a male or female Akita, and (more importantly) why? Also, where is the best place to find Akita puppies for sale? Also, I've heard that there is a heredity issue of deafness in Akita's. Is this true and how do i avoid this?

  • @bearmanguy I got a female rescue akita last year...4 years old. Best dog I have ever had. The society matched me well and made sure we were all happy. I would recommend thinking about rehoming an akita that needs a new family through no fault of its own.

  • Two full grown Akitas can scare off a bear, but there is no way in hell a couple of those could take down a bear. I've heard of them being used to hunt bear, but it has never been known for them kill them...

  • @ThePointinDog I had an overuse of pronouns in the last sentence lol. My last two words should be "to kill."

  • @ThePointinDog Believe me. Two full grown Akitas, who on average weigh 120 lbs, are more than a match for a bear. But the bears that they were used to hunt were of course Japanese bears, most of which were the size of American black bears. Now a larger species, like a griz, would pose a bigger problem for only two dogs.

  • No way in Hell.

    There is a translation error.

There are no 2 dogs in any breed that can take down or kill a full grown bear.

Bear baiting in legal in a few countries and feature gladiator dogs bred for it, tougher than Akitas, and multiple dogs cant even damage the bear in these contests.

The point is that the dogs would Bay the bear until the hunter arrives to dispatch, just as the Rhodesian Ridge would bay lions. No dog (s) can kill a healthy lion.

Dogs are easily killed by Bear/Lion

  • @StSimonMartyr akitas, chow chows, english staffordshires, even boarder collies, in packs of 2, can kill a bear

a dog can be the best companion ever, in combat or at home

  • Moron,

Im a hunter, I hunt bear and boar with dogs.

No 2 dogs can kill any adult bear, and survive. All would be killed trying, this includes Pit Bulls, Wolves, Akita or Kangals or any other breed stupid enough to try and dogs get killed by bears every year.

Google bear baiting and see yourself, and those bears are muzzled, defanged and declawed and they still manage to fight off attacks by rough dogs.

Go play in traffic, youre bothering me with nonsense.

  • @StSimonMartyr The story as I knew it was 2 Akitas took down a 700 lb Bear in Japan

  • @ThePointinDog probably a eroupean bear

  • I had a Akita, beautiful dog!! Smart,friendly,and playful!!

  • akitas attack people that they feel are a threat! they are dam good dogs it stopped someone from raping me and half his face is gone and i thank my akita! so dont talk down on akitas their good protectors

  • @LAKEYTASLIMM half of your dogs face?? or the attacker? I hope you're saying half of the attackers face is gone...

  • best companion never felt so safe until i got one!

  • IF YOU HAVE FACEBOOK, SEARCH FOR AKITA WORLD AND JOIN THE BIGGEST AKITA GROUP AND PAGE ON FACEBOOK :) SEE YOU THERE

  • I Love Akitas! I've had 5 so far! Have owned for 16 years ^-^ though only 2 are with me 2day

0:44 "Now breeding"? They were ALWAYS bred without a mask. Its been like that for centuries! ony recently, in the last 50-60 yrs, was the black mask bred in, and that was only because they were taken to America which changed the breed completely. The body shape & build is different and so is their muzzle. And of couse its popular in Japan, do you think they like America "americanising" their things?

  • the American Akita can be very protective of they're Masters.and also if u put a male in the same pen as another male, they could fight to the death over food, or a female in heat.these dogs are very good with people though. I own 30 Akita's and they are all very kid friendly

  • the American Akita can be very protective of they're Masters.and also if u put a male in the same pen as another male, they could fight to the death over food, or a female in heat.these dogs are very good with people though.

  • I responded because the remark of "if you want your child's face to get ripped off" was really over the top. You must really be into drama.I DO own an American Akita. He is 100 pounds.Just because a dog LOOKs mean does not make them mean. Our dog does love people. The smaller breeds don't get reported because when they bite it doesn't do much damage.I bet a lot of things scare you because they look mean.If something scares you I would stay away from it.That could be a lot of things.

  • @NotIntoDrama I don't think Akitas look mean, on the contrary, I think they look like teddy bears. So no dice there. Just because YOU own a nice dog, does not mean Akitas are a generally trustworthy breed.

  • well akitas actually shed twice a year

  • do they get along well with other dogs like ones they see in the park or some place?

  • @versatilechicken only if they've been socialized. My Akita gets along with most puppies however he will attack any adult dog wether its a male or female.

  • ShawnoftheDay, can you be any more wrong? Do you know ANYTHING about this breed? My dad used to say, "better to keep your mouth shut when you don't know what you are talking about rather than verify that you are an idiot". Good advice that maybe you should take.

  • ShawnoftheDay, can you be any more wrong? Do you know ANYTHING about this breed? My dad used to say, "better to keep your mouth shut when you don't know what you are talking about rather than verify that you are an idiot". Good advice that maybe you should take.

  • @NotIntoDrama You should have listened closer to your dad (it isn't his quote, btw). Akitas are much more likely to attack kids than friendly breeds (golden retrievers, labs, etc). You might want to do some research.

  • Akita: The right companion....if you want your child's face to get ripped off

  • @ShawnoftheDay Obviously you are ignorant about the breed and have probably never owned one. Yes Akitas are aggressive in nature however they are kind and gentle wih children. I have a 2 yr old Akita that barges into my room whenever there's someone he doesn't recognize in the house. He smells us (my 5 month old little girl and myself) to make sure we're not in danger and then will proceed to sit in front of my room door to make sure nothing happens to us.

  • @RandiiSavage I'm not ignorant about the breed, they are one of the most dangerous dog breeds when one looks at attack figures. Just because you have a nice dog, that doesn't mean Akitas are not dangerous. There are tame grizzly bears as well, but I'm not going to run up and pat one of them on the head next time I go camping.

  • @ShawnoftheDay Funny I just looked up dog statistics and pitbulls and rottweilers account for over 70% of dog attacks in the US so I'm not sure what attack figures you're talking about.

Akitas are one of the most discriminated breeds simply because they're prideful, stubborn and dominant dogs. Yes my dog is nice to us, who he has known since he was a puppy but he isn't nice to other adults he knows don't belong in our house.

  • @RandiiSavage I didn't say they were the most dangerous dogs. People who love pitbulls use the same arguent as yourself, and they are just as wrong. There can be nice Akitas, but as a breed they are more likley to be violent than most others.

  • @ShawnoftheDay There's nothing to back up your claims. And there's no way a pitbull owner could use my same argument because there's actual recorded data and statistics that indicate pitbulls are one of the most dangerous breeds. Not to mention the fact that some insurance companies won't insure your home if you own a dangerous breed such as a pit or rottie, I had no problem finding a homeowners insurance despite the fact that I own an Akita.

  • @RandiiSavage type in akita attacks in google, TONS come up. For pages. Type in golden retriever attacks. Hardly any come up, and there are a LOT mor retrievers around than Akitas.

  • @ShawnoftheDay Lol. Great source for reliable knowledge... Show me statistics and verifiable information all you keep presenting are opinions and coincidental information. Not all dog bites are recorded on Google, get real and ALL dogs can lose their patience and even bite or attack. I have a 3 lbs chihuahua that has attacked almost every single person that has ever walked in my house, even my husband.

  • @RandiiSavage It also might interest you to know that the US Center For Disease Control and Prevention looked at almost 20 years of dog-bite attacks, and listed Akitas as one of the ten most dangerous breeds in the US. Funnily enough, neither labs nor cocker spaniels made the list. Hmmm......

  • @ShawnoftheDay Well smart ass... Akitas are obviously more dangerous because they are obviously bigger weighing 3x more than a lab and can do more damage. If an Akita were to attack you it could be fatal bc of their size, Its called common sense. Its sad to see you're even more ignorant than I initially suspected and quite possibly retarded as well. This time I know for sure you won't be replying because you have been blocked. Have yourself a great day.

  • @RandiiSavage Um, you can't block someone from replying on another video you drooling idiot. And, I know this might be hard to penetrate your thick skull, but there are plenty of dogs WAY bigger than the ferocious Akita (Newfoundland, Bernese, Mastiff) that were NOT included on the top 10 most dangerous dog breed, so your argument is pointless. You're ignorant, Akitas are dangerous, and you have failed as a dog owner if your dog attacks everyone. Get it through your head.

  • @RandiiSavage And Akitas are 3x bigger than labs huh? So Akitas weight about 270 pounds then? Have you ever SEEN a lab, or do you just keep blathering on nonsensically until it's time for your next round of lithium?

  • @ShawnoftheDay Sounds like the only drooling idiot here is you. 1. You're delusional if you think Labs can reach 90 lbs. Look it up. 2. No, I can't block you from commenting but I can block your messages from reaching my inbox (duh). and 3. The list of the top 10 most dangerous breeds goes as follows from least to most... 10. Dalmation, 9. Boxer, 8.Presa Canario, 7. Chow Chow, 6. Doberman pinschers, 5. Alaskan Malamutes, 4. Huskies, 3. German Shepherds, 2. Rottweilers, 1. Pitbulls... look it up

  • @RandiiSavage Aw, pretty touchy now that you've been proven wrong. Firstly, brainiac, labs can easily get up to 90 lbs, check AKC. Second, I never tried to message you. Thirdly, you are just blatantly lying. ANYONE can check the USDCP site and see that AKITAS are number 10, moron. You must be what..educated up til 9th grade? Don't get any of that hateful spew on your burger king uniform now!

  • Comment removed

  • @ShawnoftheDay Thank you for proving that your brainless head is stuck further up your ass than I thought. =) your stupidity is amusing, thank you for the laughs... Thanks, bye.

  • Comment removed

  • @RandiiSavage And also, what kind of idiot keeps a dog in the house that is known to ATTACK family members when you have an infant? When that kid starts crawling around, grabs the dog's tail and gets a face full of teeth, YOU'll be the one to blame. What a horrible mother. Either train your dog or get it out of the house.

  • @ShawnoftheDay Lmao, am I supposed to be offended by your comments? You seem to know what Lithium is for and what a burger king uniform looks like, sounds to me like you're the one taking the lithium and wearing the burger king uniform. And yes I've kept the Chihuahua around because she was a rescued dog and I can't seem to find a good home for her, since you're so interested in what happens in my household... Btw I did just look at the AKC site and Labs can't even reach 80 lbs...

  • Comment removed

  • Your witless retorts pretty much prove you've yet to scrape a GED. Sad your kid has an ignorant, idiotic mother who cares more for the safety of a dog than her child. And..AKC says labs should weigh up to 80, idiot, so larger labs can easily reach 90 lbs. You won't be laughing when your kid gets scarred because you are a pathetic parent. This has been a novel if not pleasant exchange for me, given my social circle, I hardly ever get to converse with trailer trash. Thanks!

  • @ShawnoftheDay Like I said, thanks for the laughs. =)

  • @ShawnoftheDay By the way, a little piece of knowledge for you... Cocker Spaniels and Labradors are found to be more likely to attack, surprising but factual. Look it up and please don't reply, thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • @RandiiSavage odd that you keep a violent dog in your house, you're lucky you haven't been sued yet. I hate when owners fail to train their dogs properly. And whilst there are more lab attacks, Akitas are more likely to attack. There are just way more labs than Akitas. And you can refrain from replying if you'd like, but I'll decide to whom and when I will reply without your input thanks.

  • hachiko :) <3

  • are they game in the pit?

  • @pizdamatiideuser2 If you trained one,. My son has got a bitch she is so strong its unbelievable. She is so stupid she would lick you to death

  • @pizdamatiideuser2 your'e a dumb ass

    Go eat shit.

If you want to see some action, go to a boxing match.

    Poor animals have suffered enough.

  • @Dance4Him417 how about terranova? :D

  • I love this breed I ve had two of them. My last Yoshi died last Jan. They are very protective but they are loveable bears. About to get another one myself in a month

  • youtube.com/watch?v=JwX_PnQB5Ws

    look this akita

  • its two coats they shed a year..

  • Yes, Very True Qualities in them. I have one and unfortunately, I am bullied most of the time ahahhahahahahahhaha.

  • @sugarbuns20 , lol.. they need strong leader...but couldn`t ask for a better dog.. they love you no matter what and are so passionate about serving their family...

  • i have an akita and its so pretty............

  • Nice video on Akitas, but my Akitas have shed every day for the last 20 years, as opposed to only when they are blowing their coats. They have been A/C dogs...we live in FL. Vacuuming is a daily chore, even with weekly brushings and professional grooming at least once/month. The Akita breed rocks.

  • Wow! She is a fantastic speaker. To the point. I like that...

  • @Aonexia U lik arse

  • The akita we used to have had some very funny stories that I would love to share and the akita we have now is so much like him that it's barely even funny. Sometimes we mistake their names and calle him Shorai. Haha. Akira's really are one of the best dogs out there.

  • My next door neighbour has a white one he is the most loving dog ever. A dog to be proud of

  • i had two akitas... i'm pretty sure they shed morethan once a year. but anyways, akitas are one of the best breeds-loyal and beautiful.

  • wow she is fckd up if she thinks Akitas only shed once a year! They are always shedding! But twice a year they do shed very heavily.

  • This woman is just plain wrong on a few things.

    1) They were originally used for hunting

    2) They shed TWICE a year

    3) MASK: the original Akita ONLY has a white mask, American Akita's have a black mask because of the cross breading with Mastiffs in the 1930/40's in America. The Japanese KC DO NOT ACCEPT American Akita's as Akita's

    4) Stubborn, not true, strong willed yes but will accept coaxing (food rewards work well) to learn new things, once learned they remember!

  • @modore thank you for the corrections, very fascinating dog

  • Can

  • They can't take down BEARS fuk that. They'll just overpower you

  • @iFCBARCEL0NA Actually they can take down bears. Akitas are very musclular dogs. American Akitas actually look like a bear with their short snout and rounded ears

  • @MdmLautner she has it only half correct .I have had akitas all my life they do shed but at two months a year if not brushed reg and one month if brushed reg and for strength well you r talking about fornomanal power loyalty next to none also protective of family as he will sleep in every bedroom during the night and for bringing down bears thats was in the past when they mother abandond lion cubs to nearly fully grown now whats a bear and for agression well i have seen mine in action wow .

  • that dark one is soooooo georgous

  • akita inu means bear dog x3

  • Akitas are very smart, they are not your average dog. My Akita is my loyal & best friend!!! You have to spend time with them, they are not difficult.

  • @flexin007 - akitas sometimes get a rep for being below avg intelligence because they won't chase a ball or do routine tricks...but trust me, they are extremely smart & clever. My boy is smart enough to do a lot of tricks, but only when he knows it's going to pay off (i.e. food is visible)

  • snicker... once a year..

  • I love Akitas but, half the stuff on this is absolute bullshit!! it's a load if American fucking rubbish , the akitas ancestors where originally used as hunting dogs not "temple guards" the daft bitch claims that they're being bred with White faces is a new thing. well that's fucking shit: 1 there are more colours than White 2 the black mask is new , they didn't used to have them but the Americans bred it in and 3 every country but America recognises that there are two different breeds the yank

  • @Chazb5046 cant they do both? ( :

  • @MyMurphysLaw yeah probs :)

  • @Chazb5046 you're a fucking moron, go drink some more tea, have awful teeth, and lose a revolutionary war to a bunch of guerrilla fighters, douche

  • @Chazb5046 look i could go on and on but do you no why the american breed is diffrent?

  • Akitas rock....best dog on the planet, but yes - everything she said is true, stubborn but loveable, and you just need to be the clear Alpha & they will be loyal for life.

  • @flexin007 akitas are smart dogs, trust me i have one.

  • @tay901000 my akita wakes me up 7am every morning so i will tell you somthing who ever sais akitas are not intelligent they need to look at themselves .and when he picks up his food bwl six pm and brings it to me when i forget the time well do i need to sa any more.

  • @christopher23stefie , Akita`s are the smartest dogs I have ever seen...

  • @MrAngelmann yes they they are and cheeky at times cheers.

  • I have Japanese Akita Inu/American Akita mix, he's 4mo. We have goats & kittens running around the farm, he likes them all. Took him to outdoor flea market where many people and their pets were present. Was a great place to "socialize" 's him even more!. He sniffed the other dogs, his up on his back, no growling, he was very calm but alert as he met them. He wasn't jumping or pulling at leash like most!. Could take it or leave it towards other people outside of the family, typical of an Akita.

  • That is so true about them being stubborn. They want to do what they want to do when they want to do it. So much personality. But they're also sweet hearts and very lovable. It definitely is a great family pet if you know how to train them.

  • Those are American akitas, they are different from the Japanese Akitas. Both are very loyal and protective dogs. :) love them both<333

  • I don't listen to anything from a person who participates in a show ring.

  • Man don't say Akita can't take down bear. This was the breeds original purpose & I don't understand why people can't see it. Deer, Boar, Bear. No match for two Akita. Best breed in history. Most loyal no argument,(just watch Hachiko) most protective, they're supposed to bring well health & good fortune. Akitas Run SHIT, face it haters.

  • my akita is like 2ft. 10 and like 130 pounds

  • The Females that I have had have had great dispositions. Protective but not aggressive. The Males were aggressive and Stubborn. I do not recommend a male in a family setting, but highly recommend a Female.

  • Gorgeous dog.
