  • so who came first tim minchin or bill bailey cause they pretty much do the same musical act ??

  • Aaah, I misread it!!! I thought it said "Fuck The Pope"!! A bit of a disappointment, but this will have to do,hehe!

  • where is this filmed?

  • how come at 0:34 he says "I'll give you 50 cents to take away my guilt" and then later in the song at 1:30 he's saying "50 bucks" instead of cents? is that a mess-up?

  • @yenheist at the start he was talking about people cleaning his windscreen for money and at the end he was talking about giving money to charity. or it could be a stuff-up

  • @yenheist it's just escalating how much he's willing to pay after thinking about it a bit...the more he thinks, the more guilty he feels...

  • He's just portraying everyone in our society of capitalism, when we waste and waste money on retarded useless stuff and then by just giving 50 cent to a hobo we think we are good persons.

  • WHAT THE HELL Youtube?! i don't wanna see Robotic vagina!

  • @MrDannythedick Wait. What?

  • @MrDannythedick That's what they all say.

  • Man... this should be a full lenght song (4min +)

  • ps: I meant GREAT MUSIC

  • Does anyone know who the backup singing trio are? They are great singers also. Great muscis, Time. loved your show in Sydney a few weeks ago.

  • Anyone who is offended by this obviously has never seen Tim's other material. IT'S WHAT HE DOES! He's impersonating corporate fat cats to make a point. And he does it quite amazingly!

  • this song is a joke.

its funny and clever and its IRONIC. stop commenting that its offensive and stop commenting that you agree IT IS A JOKE!!!

  • this song is not offensive so if your poor go fuck yourself

  • @TimMinchinLive thanks for posting, but can you please just write the word "fuck" without censoring it next time? You're allowed, I checked. It's just that it's rather tiresome to live in a world that's increasingly fearful of naughty language, to the point where one sometimes can't even purchase privately an uncensored TV show, it's fucking bullshit.

  • the only organization i would ever donate to is the salvation army. they're the only ones that are guaranteed to actually do something with the money you give them. Other organizations (World Vision is the worst) just siphon the hell out of your money and give close to nothing (if anything at all) to someone who needs it.

  • @Nytheron I disagree. I worked with the homeless for a year and a half with a different org. The Salvation Army not only receives donations but it charges "clients" i.e. the homeless, to stay in their shelters. This charge is either monetary or via the state assistance food stamps they receive. Which then creates a codependency between the man and the shelter. A lot happens behind the doors of so called non-profits. You would be surprised at how much actually.

  • Pretty strong song... for anyone who has a sense of humour. If it makes you angry, you don't get it or you really like vodka cranberry.

  • Look up Bo Burnham "art is dead", a very good song with a similar direction.

  • just reading on the comments below, and see how many ignorant people there are makes me realize why i love watching this guy, because not everyone gets him, but when you do. its brilliant.

  • hmm... lets see give £10 to a charity advertised on TV, by the time royalties are taken away, taxes for the buildings, and the % for the cost of advert, about 20p goes to the charity out of that £10 lol

  • I'm Mitt Romney, and I approved this message.

  • This song is basically the whole Tory maifesto.

  • @IDoNotHaveAHat Apart from the bit where Tim will still give money out of guilt. Tories don't give a fuck about that.

  • If he had said "fifty quid" instead of "fifty bucks", at least it would have been more generous. More guilty to be taken away.

  • Eh, fuck the poor. 1% all the way!

  • This is to all of you rich ones, don't you worry about us poor, our needs are not your needs, we don't need your money nor your pity, as long as you don't give us your crap!

  • @animalidades1 Yeah, you're a poor person with access to the internet. I suppose it is free in your poverty stricken country?

  • @d53njac As if having acces to the internet was a big deal you morron!

  • @animalidades1 Yes, it kinda is.

  • @animalidades1

if you have high speed internet (an assumption im making because youre on youtube) you most definately do not qualify as poor.even if youre running dial-up the fact you have a computer is enough to disqualify you. youre an overprivilaged 12 year old but your mommy doesnt buy you all the new xbox games so you must be poor right?

  • @PANDEAD2

That is precisely the problem with the rich, in order for you to think someone is poor one most be starving to death, or weight 30 Lbs, well, let me tell you, poverty like everything else is relative, so how would you describe someone that does not know how is he going to feed his children the next day. However is in this lack of security and stability where God comes to fulfil one needs and actually show his mercy. So this kind of "Assumptions" have the world ruined.

  • @animalidades1 Your articulation is pretty poor so I can't really tell if you believe that God comforts people or that they seek comfort in Him? I personaly don't believe in a god, therefore the argument is pretty invalid. Especially because I hold that it's religion that ruins the body of civilization.

And, if I might add, I am not rich in a material way. And I don't think PANDEAD2 is aswell. Judgment without basis is prejudice.

  • @d53njac I am sorry if I can't explain my self, it could be either my lack of education or the fact that English is my second language, however I agree with you on the latest, religon it's a complot of the rulers of this world, a method of manipulaton and misleading the masses. But when it comes to God it's not a matter of believeing or not, it's a matter of exact knowledge of the things around us and accepting humblnessly that there is higher inteligence than ours.

  • @animalidades1 I don't mean to butt into a conversation not regarding me, but I'd just like to address that last sentence of yours, the one about being humbled. Religious people have always stated that they are humble because they believe in god, yet god is always said to listen to prayers, hear your every thought, judge your every action. Implying that humans are special.

Is it not more humble to accept that everything we are is just another species evolved from the simple hydrogen atom?

  • @d53njac Anyone with access to a library can get onto the internet. Its actually not that difficult. Don't assume shit without at least 'some' forethought about what you're actually saying.

  • @7CellarDoors Assuming that I didn't think of going to your channel and seeing uploaded videos of which one has, in the description, the claim that you spent three hours working on it. I suppose you did it all in a library? Also, you leave comments on videos every few hours which leads me to the conclusion that you have a constant internet connection. Now, where exactly did I "assume shit without forethought"?

  • @d53njac Never said "I" didnt have access to the internet. So wheres that forethought you're so proud of? Cus all I see are the rantings of an asshat.

Oh by the way, way to go all out with your totally not pathetic channel surfing for material to use against me on this inevitably pointless argument you've concocted. Yep, so not pathetic at all.... lol.

  • @7CellarDoors I barely clicked twice to see the activity of your channel, don't give yourself more fame than you deserve. Lying is pathetic. You didn't claim to not have an internet connection, you just claimed to be poor, but in my view, a person who has a home internet connection, which you obviously have, is not poor.

Try using less ad hominem and more argumentated statements next time. Now stop yapping, you're making less sense with every reply.

  • @d53njac Completely false. Read the comments again, I never claimed anything you're implying. Simply told you to not assume shit like the dipshit you're proving to be with every comment.

Stop replying, please. You're only making yourself look like an idiot for everyone to see. Its almost painful to watch, if it weren't so hilarious :D

  • @7CellarDoors I actually do like and idiot.

I thought you posted that first comment directed towards rich people from the poor perspective, but it turns out it was animalidades1.

Excuse me for false accusations, I didn't realise how badly I failed. :/

  • @d53njac ... Wow... Never expected to meet someone on youtube capable of apologizing for anything. That's like, against youtubes terms and conditions or something.

I tip my hat to you sir. Id also like to apologize for berating you so with my over the top insults. I was unaware I was speaking to a mature individual. Well done.

  • @7CellarDoors Well, I try to act be mature and polite as possible.

I also try to use correct grammar, but the spellcheck on the browser is set to Croatian, so I don't always succeed.

And don't worry about that, I believe Goethe said something in the fashion of "Every insult that is not responded to is deserved."

I am also delighted that there are still civilized people using YouTube. People just don't appreciate reason anymore these days.

  • brilliant! :)

  • I hope this fucker gets aids

  • @MrJangoProductions You may have misinterpreted his song.

  • The thumbnail on this video is perfect.

  • Anyone who doesn't get this has a serious, monolithic irony deficiency. Tim is just pointing out what absolute CUNTS people can be to their fellow man. What is money anyway? Its just paper. Methinks a Human life is worth a wee bit more.

I couldn't give a fuck if you like this comment or not....FYI. Its the truth.

  • @CaptainKubla No, you're the one who completely misunderstood the song. It's not about "what absolute cunts people can be to their fellow man". It's about the fact that many wealthy people donate to charity to rid themselves of guilt about being wealthy while people in poor countries (or, Bangalore) starve. I quote: "I'll give you 50 bucks to take away my guilt", "dampening the guilt you feel about your perfect life", "... to justify the future purchases of stuff that I don't need."

  • @AL3X1412 No, that is only a literal interpretation and you fail to read the subtext. It is PRECISELY about what absolute uncaring cunts people can be to their fellow man. The multimillionaire who gives 50 bucks a year is only doing so to assuage his guilty conscience and not through any real sense of altruism or goodness, and as you rightly point out soley to make himself feel better. Thereby proving himself to be a self centered cunt, which was my entire point, and indeed Minchins.

  • @CaptainKubla Look, the overall message is that people who give to charity out of guilt rather than altruism are selfish and uncompassionate. Implying that THOSE people are not as altruistic as they may at first appear. Taking away the specificity of that meaning and calling it a 'subtext' is a load of crap, all you did is make a baseless assumption from the literal interpretation. If you can see anything that directly points to a subtext, let me know.

  • @AL3X1412 @AL3X1412 In your first two sentences you are actually agreeing with me?! A subtext is indeed that which is IMPLIED not explicitly stated. Minchin IMPLIES they are bereft of real compassion and genuine altruism. At no point does he explicitly and literally state this! Ergo, it is subtext. Fact. It is also actually aimed at the majority of Mankind's collective obsession with crass materialism, NOT just the singular subject of the song; a comment on the Human condition.

  • @CaptainKubla Yeah, I agree with the specific message, not the overall subtext. I still completely disagree that it is aimed at the majority of mankind. Actually, I guess I'd agree with you almost anywhere else, except that Tim's style is generally to state in less-than-metaphorical terms what wants to say. In fact, I found a quote from Tim himself on the song: "...the central idea of which is that charity is never purely altruistic." So, neither of us was spot on.

  • @CaptainKubla

How much money have you spent on luxury vs charity?

  • @lulhoofd1 Hello lulhoofd. More than I should. Because I am a self centered cunt like everybody else, which is what he is pointing out. I never said I wasn't. It is the Human condition but I'm working on it lol. I give what I can afford, but even so you have to be careful even with what you give, as not all charity money actually goes to the people who deserve it. It often ends up in the pockets of corrupt govt officials etc.....Cunts who should be put in jail Hope this clears it up.

  • @CaptainKubla Actually money is made out of fabric that's why it dosn't diintergrate when it gets wet!

  • @cherry97girl lol.....Most banknotes are made of cotton paper, which is still indeed paper, just not the wood pulp variety.....so 'neer neer' lol. :D But yes, thats why its made of cotton paper usually, so it doesn't fall to bits when you put it it the washing machine, if you're a daft bastard like me. Cheers. :D

  • This song is not a joke, it's provocation. I've watched a video, where Tim tells the story of the song. He has written it for a charity gig in order to instigate people.

  • @lychoful do you have a link to that vid? :)

  • @lychoful Exactly. Why the fuck else would he include the number?

  • @lychoful Regardless, it's still a very satirical song and has value in the mocking of what motivates charity.

  • Brilliant

  • The song criticizes the people that donate money to charity only because it makes them feel better about themselves. So pretty much everyone (probably including Tim himself)

On a bigger scale it criticizes the whole humanity and it's way of dealing with poverty and sickness. If the whole world decided to do something about it and everyone just worked towards a common goal these problems could be beaten but here we are watching Tim on Youtube. :)

  • @Futsimoto Very nicely expressed! There isn't much that can be done. Its just too hopelessly screwed up. I think that a lot of us are altruistic and wish to do much more. But what stops us is simply the knowledge that we will be lonely in such pursuits and other like minded people won't join the cause. And years later, they might have moved onto cushy jobs while you will be stuck in an African desert.

Not having a conscience will probably soon become a biological and evolutionary necessity.

  • @raigandalf while i agree that we are put off by helping people because we think we're insignificant, i also think that we really don't care about these people. i feel terrible about it, and i know i should be doing much more, but biologically speaking, there is no part of my brain that would evolve to care about people that don't affect my life. people who donate small amounts to charity and call themselves good human beings are self-righteous delusional assholes.

  • @clancym1 That is exactly my point. I agree. However, if we assume that our cognitive functions have evolved over the years for the overall improvement of the species. Then soon a time will come, when due to global turbulence, our brains might automatically evolve to become more altruistic & we might be forced (with a common view to ensure the survival of the species) to take stronger initiatives and abandon our hedonistic individualism.

It might just about happen due to continuing evolution.

  • This guy should say "Naughty" on stage ! If you know what I'm talkin' about, you're awesome :)

  • i aint poor but id still give this guy a smack in the mouth if i ever see him.

  • @Liam2621 it's at a charity event, it's a joke, lighten up

  • What is all this hoohah for?

  • funny shit

  • isnt that the pirate in the pirates of the carabian ..

  • To The Guy Below Me...... Poor People Probably Cant Watch This

  • @Kyller54 To this guy, you do know that you can just directly reply to their comment right?

  • 62 poor people watched this. Not orriginal, but work with me here. still funny.

  • What other song uses this tune?

  • @AMVslowking Oh god it's Lonely jew on christmas!

  • That guy at the end totally ruins the video for me. "SNOWBLEBALADJOHAHHHTHANKYOUFORCOMINNNNNTIMMINCIN!!!!!!!!!!!!"

  • @italiangirl9696 "Melbourne International Comedy Gala. Thank you for coming, Tim Minchin."

Obviously that was the end of the show... or an ad break.

  • @BloodSonicFlux Obviously I was making a joke.

  • @italiangirl9696 As if sarcasm is obvious over words on a screen.

  • @BloodSonicFlux IT wasn't meant to be sarcasm, it was meant to be a joke. I don't want to keep commenting on this post. I was only joking, I have nothing against the guy. I'll remove the comment if you want.

  • @italiangirl9696 Also the "it" was not meant to be capitalized, I accidentally pressed caps lock instead of shift.

  • @italiangirl9696 If it was meant to be a joke, I don't get it.

  • @BloodSonicFlux Okay, whatever, just forget about it. I'm not responding on these comments anymore. People want to see comments not arguments.

  • @italiangirl9696 hahaha, you were the one arguing, not me. I was just confused by the "joke" because it wasn't funny or seemed like a joke.

  • @BloodSonicFlux 45+ people found the humour.

  • @italiangirl9696 45+ people are not me.

  • Comment removed

  • @missionpupa I'd laugh if it was funny to me. But it wasn't. I think in logical patterns. I see someone misquoting, I correct it.

I don't get how mishearing is a joke.

  • @italiangirl9696 "That guy" is one of Australias most successful TV comedy personalities, and he was saying thank you at the end of the show.. Listening is hard I heard.

  • @MakonianLuv I'm sorry I have an opinion that you don't like, and I know he said thank you, I wrote it in there. I thought it was funny. I don't hate the guy, I just think it was a bit annoying. I have seen him in other bits, and he is funny. He didn't REALLY ruin the video for me. I just wanted an excuse to write all those jumbled letters. Also, I meant "Minchin" but I wrote Mincin. Oops

  • @italiangirl9696 Rove gave the guy at the end $50 to not do that on his show.

  • @italiangirl9696

Yeah. That was Peter Helliar. That seems to be his thing.

  • @italiangirl9696 Melbourne International Comedy Gala*

  • @italiangirl9696 yep, what a fat retard

  • @italiangirl9696 Shutuppa you stinking cunt hey!

  • @scottclements78 Um... what?

  • the reason hes good is he is original and soo funny lol

  • hate to disappoint but he's British and moved to Australia

  • @SIIVIIVIO

Born in England to Australian parents, raised in Australia, lived most of his life in Australia, moved back to England.

  • @SIIVIIVIO lol other way around idiot

  • @DomYahtzee

He was born in Britain moved to Australia realised what a shit-hole it was n moved back

  • i love the poor now?

  • oohhh,Tim!!! I'm poor.....come fuck me!!!!

  • @anythingelvis Im with ya! me too tim!! Im poor AND aged!!!

  • That's funny...one of Australia's funniest comedians (Tim Minchin) and one of Australia's shittiest comedians (Peter Hellier) on stage at the same time.

  • The UK Priminister has been listing to this way to many times...

  • Fuck YOU

  • @morgan10ism You idiot, it's satire.

  • solid nubuck women casual flat boots

  • anyone else notice it went from 50 cents to $50?

  • @TheRockRiff getting rid of guilt is costlier as life goes on and you acquire more

  • Tim is amazing. :')

  • Comment removed

  • There is only one piano playing genius who can make me dad cry with laughter all the while slipping in those subtle messages...

    Onus Tim you fuckin legend!

  • @all you arguing viewers: cool story bro.

  • I hate the potato face with the mic. He's one of Australia's unfunniest men.

  • The other man's name is Peter Helliar. He is an Australian 'comedian' and as an Australian I personally never found him to be funny. He's not really on TV anymore.

  • 62 people are poor xD

  • @herpesboburpees I hope that this is a joke. However, I feel it is not. I have to agree with his views in this particular song. Fuck the poor :P

  • @omgwtflion Fuck the poor-lice coming straight from the underground! Fuckin' hobo got it bad cos I'm down, not a bleeding heart sappy so poor-lice think they have the authority to beg the majority. Fuck that shit cos I ain't the one for poor motherfucker with a box and sign.

  • @omgwtflion Uh, he was joking, teasing himself. Your kind of an asshole.

  • @casciatod Yes indeed I am an arsehole. But then again, you seem to have missed the point so.... right back at ya kretin.

  • @omgwtflion Then why not tell me what the point is, since you are so blessed?

  • @casciatod Look "mate" if you cannot work out exactly what I was saying when I replied to the comment then I ain't gonna spell it out for ya. I am not your primary school teacher. Now go read the comments and put them into context instead of flying off the handle and calling someone an arse hole when you jump to the wrong conclusions.

  • @omgwtflion Whatever, I don't know why I got aggressive to begin with, that was days ago.

  • @omgwtflion this is Tim Michin... he's satyrical, obviously. Isn't he right, though? How many people spend their sunday in church or give 50 cent to a charity so they feel less guilty about not giving a fuck about them?

  • @Akh608 Indeed it is Tim Minchin. I was not really asking if his song was a joke. I understand what he meant. I was actually responding to a comment made. Not the song.

  • @omgwtflion ever heard about irony and sarcasm?

  • @herpesboburpees it is a JOKE, he isn't actually talking for all celebrities, he's made a persona of himself that acts like this. think before you comment.

  • @herpesboburpees I don't think that you understand that Tim, being a comedian, is joking. Y'know, it's something people do. Fuck you, not Tim. Because you appear to be a twat. Because you don't like Tim. And don't appreciate jokes. Go get a life and stop leaving hate comments on a video of an amazingly funny, musical and talented man doing what he does best. Oh and Tim does care, Oprah isn't the only person in the world to do that. He's just being funny. Oh and please go to hell. Kthxbai.

  • @herpesboburpees A saint with a fucking hawaiin mansion. And a sports car. And a bank account that makes surgeons feel poor.

  • Great... Now I have to find Isynno's comment.

  • just a perfect song. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

  • does anyone have a clue, why or what that man is shouting at the end!? It really ruins the end :(

  • @Loucandoit i think hes the host of the show and hes sort of seeing tim off the stage in a way, like when they introduce the act, instead theyre sort of detroducing the act

  • @KilljoyMaggot28 Outroduction :)

  • @maxwellfactor YES. Thats what I mean, thanks :D

  • YouTube has advertisements on Youtube? wat?

  • Comment removed

  • i used to say f*** the poor until i took a staffie to the knee ;)

  • Before we F*ck the poor, let's f*ck the SHOUTING AT THE END. You have a microphone, Inside voices.

  • Dead Kennedys anyone?

  • At 1:26 it looks like the moon in the background is doing the mexican wave xD

  • Hahaha, f*ck the poor. Occupy eat da heart out. Learn piano playing instead.

  • i used to take arrows to the knee until i took an arrow to the knee

  • 0:20 There you go enjoy the song ;)

  • Well put. Thanks for giving us great motivating entertainment! Don't ever stop.

  • Just...just a scathing song. Amazing.

  • someone needs to upload a version of this with 2:06 - 2:16 cut out. That guy shouting ruins the clip a bit.

  • @allnightmarelong78

    yeah, what an ass!

  • OK, hands up all those leaving messages who don't understand irony.

  • I gave money to folk that didn't have enough till I took an arrow to the knee...

  • @Speccy0 I left arrow-in-the-knee Skyrim jokes on every video I found.

Until I took an arrow in the elbow.

  • i agree fuck the poor :) wait i live in a 1 bedroom flat with 4 children. did av 5 1 died from starvation cant feed them all just gunna have 2 mug tim on the way home from 1 of his shows

  • @bumpygoose28 So one of your children died of starvation?; wouldn't food come before costs of computers and internet? I think you're full of bullshit!

  • David Cameron loves this

  • F the Rich!!!!

  • What's wrong with the eyeliner? Tim has been performing brilliant songs in Austrailia for years as a complete unknown, but its not until he fucks with his hair and make-up that the rest of the world takes notice! He is only doing what is necessary to get noticed 'cos most of the fuck-wits out there don't recognise genius when they see it.

  • @RealiveProds Well, the eyeliner is a cabaret thing, really. It draws attention to his eyes and makes them more expressive, which is important when you're not able to use much body language (while playing an instrument, for example)
