I would say for anyone in their 30's or 40's growing up with this show - it was like the Leave it to Beaver if the 80's. It was a family show with comedy for that era. I remember my parents getting most of the dialog that might have gone over my head. I do not remember this show though? Yikes!

From watching both shows, I would think that Archie would be harder on Gloria, than Cliff Huxtable would be on his five kids. He was verbally abusive to practically everyone on the show, so it wouldn't surprise me if he was verbally abusive to Gloria.

Gosh, I hated when I got my period... I was 13 and a half and my best friend had 'suffered' them for years at that point but I was certainly never envious of her, knowing what a nuisance they were going to be from there on... not something I would have been ready to celebrate, hahah!

Never gave me the sex talk ever and I am 38 yrs old now with a daughter. Thank God for PE class or I would not have a clue. I would have loved a women's day. Great idea.

The shark thing is actually true. Shark's can smell blood from miles away, and that's when it's inside your body, when you're bleeding, even with a tampon in, they can smell it even more. It's not the best idea.

@AddieStaceyMusic OMG, I was told that too by one of my cousins when I first got mine! And one of my friends told me I could stop it anytime I wanted if I slept with my mouth wide opened at night and had a glass of grape juice in the morning it would go away. What the hell?! lol And all of the old wive's tales still go on when a young girl gets her first cycle. We women need to gather ALL of the young females of the world and tell them; "IT'S BULLSHIT!"

@AddieStaceyMusic LOL! When I first got my period, I used to believe that also. I was so scared of going to the beach to attract sharks. But my doctor said that "attracting sharks from periods" is just a myth. I also had a friend who was getting baptized at church, she was on her period, and one of my other friends said that she was going to turn the water into the Red Sea! LOL! When you get into the water and you are on your period, your period stops! Haha all of these crazy myths!

Man I remember my first time. I took the week off school and my dad stayed at home from work with me. Mum taught all the things I had to do and they made me eat special foods and stuff to keep me all strong haha. I was so devastated that I wasn't a lil kid anymore lol.

Clair is such a nice mom... I love the way she takes something that can be scary & embarrassing for girls and turns it into an opportunity to inform them and even make them feel special about being women.
...Although don't get me wrong, the menstrual cycle still sucks big time. :-)
