  • Hi!! im a colombian student and i would like to study at La Guardia.... but i dont know if to old to audicion! what can i do? im in 10 grade

  • @ManuelaBesada Yeah, unfortunately if you're currently in the 10th grade, you're too old :-(

  • i loved the whole thing except when the boy came and in and speaked the way he speacked

  • Things seem to go that way.

  • @Mryearbook123 its the way the character is directed to do it in every production. the kid in the video is my brother and i know he didnt want to do it that way but he was forced. im also friends with the kid who did it in the recent broadway revival. he also didnt like overracting it but it was directed that way

  • Thank you for posting this... I am so proud to be apart of this!!

  • You guys sound amazing!

I want to do this at my high school soo bad! But Ragtime just so happens to be going back on broadway. =( It's not fair.

  • were doing it @ my high school this year.

just because its going back on broadway doesnt prevent you from doing it.

unless youre really close by nyc.

  • Yes I know that, I live in CT very close indeed. So yeah not happening. But think our drama club is going to see it this year as a field trip. So I feel A bit better.

  • im jealous you get to go see it!

    i hope its great!!! :)

  • this was the best experience of my life! I'm so proud to say I was part of this =] THANKS FOR POSTING MATT!

  • I love the costumes and this looks really professional. Good job!

  • i hated that little boy lol sorry

  • me, too.

  • me either lol

  • Except for a lazy tech crew who couldnt seem to turn on mics at the right time, voices sticking out during choral spots, and some slopy choreography, I thought it was a good performance. I do have to say that the highlight for me though was the amazing pit orchastra.

  • The little boy needs his voice to carry...even with the mics...they still need to be loud. This is a great performance!

  • to FiyeroTrades although i see what you mean, I think its refreshing to see somebody with a new take on the character.

  • @JShex it's not a new take though. all the productions that put this production have the little boy grossly overract

  • I am the little boy. I would just like to explain that in a large space like that, it takes a lot to reach the audience and tell the story. I felt like it was better to have more energy than less. Thanks for the input though.

  • hey lev it's joe. don't listen to things like that. we've performed professionally, they probably haven't so honestly, what do they know? lol. shortjew102 lmao

  • Its funny becaus eyou have no idea what we have done or anything. I can only speak for myself and I can tell you that I have done professional things. Performed in more than 4 operas at the Kennedy Center have been lead roles in numerous productions. And making a broad statement saying (we've performed professionally, they probably haven't so honestly, what do they know?) is a little ignorant... but I am just saying I didn't care for this interpretation of the little boy character.

  • lol and one more thing! "Fiorello H. La Guardia High School of Music and Art " NOT CONSIDERED PROFESSIONAL!!! HAHAHAHAHA

  • They were not talking about their performances in HS, they meant outside engagements they have done which indeed WERE professional.

Back on the topic, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

  • The little boy overacts really really bad.

  • I disagree. He's literally in a different world from the rest of the characters, and is telling the audience a story about his life. Who wouldn't be excited to tell such a rich, moving story?

  • I have to disagree. I saw a professional performance of it in Chicago. He is reflecting on his life, however, the kid in this performance was practically shouting. He was trying too hard. Of course, it may be the fault of the director. I don't know.

Also, the Mother was laughing through the whole thing.
