well i just got vf5 this weekend for about 9 dollars and its a great game. graphics are real good, and the pace seems faster than vf4 evo, with many characters getting new moves. definitely looking foward to vf5 fs
Great to see some one release a tips and informative Virtua Fighter video, theres surprisingly a lack of uploads on this.
Virtua Fighter does seem simple when you describe it as a 3 button set up fighter but it's strangely the most widely viewed in depth fighter series ever. It probably is, although I've yet to see this depth my self but I'm certainly interested in it.
@TheFatalInstinct1 It's one of only a few fighting games I've played where you can play it on a very simple level or a really high one. At first it seems daunting but the idea is to stick with it and you'll soon discover the incredible depth and options that await you. This is the latest installment until Final Showdown which will be release next year
VF5 looks like a serious cool game with a lot of strategy involved. I remember reading when the first one came out that Yu Suzuki wanted it to closely resemble real fighting styles. I think he must be pleased with how it has evolved but probably upset that it isn't as popular as Tekken or Street Fighter. I don't play a lot of fighting games but I will definitely keep my eye out for VF5 and get a copy if the price is right.
@PurpleWarlock Offensive and defensive moves are executed when dashing to the side, before landing P and K moves must be done just as your going to touch the ground after jumping.
@PurpleWarlock offensive move is executed by dashing up or down + punch kick guard (press all three same time, or the LT button). defensive move ( basically the evade) is simply done by dashing up or down.
VF isn't my fave either, but it's such a high quality franchise, one of the best out there; i mean they put in such thought into each of the characters' moves to the point where a master at this game can even count the frame rate of each move and counter the opponent accordingly, it's that deep
This brings back some great memories ;-) I used to play quite a bit online as Kage until the numbers playing seemed to dry up. Such an enjoyable fighter online though and still looks absolutely stunning. Jeffrey's stage in particular stands out from memory as one of the best looking stages. I think I'll have to dust off my copy in preparation for Final Showdown ;-)
@TigonVLiger Yes the game does look stunning, even the character models easily rival Tekken 6 which is a modern game. When you get FS we will have to have a few games!
VF isn't hard to learn , but it is hard to master, or rather takes more effort than most , which is beneficial given the native area for VF is the arcade where the goal is to get you to spend alot.
judging from that video anyways, Id say your skill level is more or less similar to mine (ie the better than most though not great level), though I think when you go online there are alot of people who are really , really good.
@lightdark28 Yeah to be honest dude I'm rusty as hell but that's no excuse, just wanted to do a video that explains VF is not hard to learn at all. Thanks for the comment man
well if youre rusty what does that say about me?? :P
one thing that bothered me about VF5 was that it won't work with my PS1 arcade stick , I have a PS1 ->PS3 adapter and while SF4 and MvsC3 works with it, VF5 doesn't.
its part of the reason why I play VF4 more, it works with that arcade stick.
@lightdark28 lol I'm not a great player dude, not by any means but I am very rusty should have done more dashes and used Jacky's elbow more. You know I've never used my arcade stick on VF (I think I should really) And VF4 is a great game I was really hoping they would bring VF4FT to consoles via xbla or psn
I always found arcade sticks worked better with fighting games, they replicate how the arcade was.
its also because its easier to reach all the buttons , very useful when you have to press 2 buttons not next to each other.
I personally use the Hori arcade stick for the PS1, and I have an identical one for the Saturn , its very good, though as I said it won't work with VF5 , and only VF5.
Nice Video.... Thumbs up for explaining in lehmans terms VF.

@PsimanUK It really is a great game there is so much depth to it and the customization is endless. I really can't wait for FS now :D

I picked up the game when I found I could buy games with Microsoft Points.
WTH is a Defensive Move and an Offensive Move? I'm having trouble pulling the "before landing" P and K moves.

@izaurralde I love VF it's my fav 3D fighting game next to Soul Calibur 2, and certainly it has to be the deepest 3D fighter ever made.
