  • scott- what do you think of Ab Ripper X (p90x)? do you think this can be used as a substitute.. or something to "mix it up"?

my goal is to get a 6 pack.. thanks

  • @jsvlad Ab ripper x is much better. i tried doing this workout and didn't feel a burn even more than half way thru.. sorry .. im just reporting the facts .. good luck

  • Press 9 Repeatedly.

  • awesome vid man, ill try it and report back!

  • How many times a week do ya think I should do this exercise? I know I won't be doing it too much to begin with, because I need to build stamina n all. But after that, how many times should I be doing this a week this for good results?

  • scott what is your body fat? is it like 5%?

  • How come you need alot of weight to build your chest for example, but for abs you just do exercises that include NO weight whatsoever? serious question, just wondering. how does it physically work?

  • @pkidro you do need weight to grow it and make it thick like any other muscle, otherwise it will take a lot longer

  • @3QuaNiMiTyy so should i do it once a week like i do to all my muscle groups? Like for example, i only do chest once a week, so i give it a week to rest

  • @pkidro ist a different kind of muscle and your body weight usually is enough

plus if you've got too much fat in the belly area, you'll never see your abs :D

  • @dbhlnn iam 6'1 and i weight 155. I don't think iam overweight and hope there is no belly fat yet. But iam working on it

  • @pkidro doesnt sound overweight to me.

getting well looking abs is just a matter of endurance. just keep doing regular crunches and toe-drivers and you should be fine.

depends on what you want ofc. i for example prefer rockhard abs where only the muscle itself comes out, if you know what i mean.

    rather sporty than bodybuilderish.

  • @dbhlnn yea i do abs once a week ,i treat them like i treat any other muscle, i hit them hard, sometimes till failure , some people told me to do them everyday, but i don't really have time to squeeze them in my other exercises. Maybe twice a week max

  • @pkidro because youre lifting all your bodyweight with ab excercises, that is alot of weight. you cant lift your weight with your chest, doesnt work as well

  • @pkidro I'm pretty sure he does have some weight resistance to his own ab routines. I think I remember a video where he mentioned it. This is just an instructional video for his viewers as a means to start. After time they can make the routine harder. It's all based upon your own level of fitness. =)

  • @pkidro I read in an article that its because if you use heavy weights to gain muscle mass on your abs then your body proportions look odd! For the desirable lean male build, no weights are used so the abdominals are ripped instead of bulk. Hope this helped!

  • @pkidro because ur legs and ur upperbody are enough wait

  • @pkidro its al true what you say but imagine someone with huge abs with no deffinition. Most people want tight abs with low bodyfat and a big chest. If you train your chest without weight it would grow to, but i will be more defined. And the abs are a other muscle type. There are 3 muscles that work different from the other muscles. The abs, forearms and calves. u use these muscles all day and are more effected by muscle endurance

    Srry for my bad English

  • @pkidro just a shot in the dark here but heavier weight increases muscle mass by creating larger tears in muscle fibers, that why you use heavy weight and low reps

In abdominal exercises its mainly all high reps creating smaller muscle tears but making the area more toned and less bulky

With that being said who would want their abs to come out as far as their chest? not me my friend, not me

  • @hewy007 that actually makes sense, I found a good routine for my abs that use no weight at all, always sore the next day

  • @pkidro maybe because you dont press weight with your abs ? And the abs are more like there for stabilisation of your body.

  • @pkidro ummm, first the goal with abs isn't to get them as big as possible. Abs are mostly made in the kitchen by getting your bodyfat low enough so you can see them. it's more about showing them than growing them. Also different types ofpushups and dips are good ways to build your chest so you don't really need weight if you know what you are doing and are creative

  • Abs are NOT made in the kitchen at ALL. Abs are seen through, diet, made through physical activity. Most people try to just diet and some get skinny enough but, do not notice that their abs are too small.

  • @pkidro your abs and calves are stabilizing muscles, your abs are supporters to the lower back, your calves to your legs and so forth, and we use these muscles a lot in our days. so basically they are being trained everyday :)

  • That was insanely amazing :)

  • is there an ab routine for beginners. Your videos are pretty sick bro.

  • @mauri85zzio Man dude your kickass. Good job making a point. Now lets see you do the weight he can do on either exercise. You would probably break your neck dropping the bench press bar on your neck because its so heavy. You cant say crap until you can prove something. Your probably some idiot thinking hes tough crap on the internet. Keep typing while Scott keeps getting stronger.

  • @element509 noup

  • @mauri85zzio lol thats some funny shit bro.. but I dont think he's trying to get all massive. I think his base is strength training, Stamina, and explosiveness. Idk tho im nobody to talk, im an mma fighter with the worst cardio in the game.lol no joke... but if you got some better vids then point me in the right direction. Im more than willing to check em out.

  • Killer workout, thanks! But during so much of the video you are yelling, which only makes it harder to hear in that gym. Maybe you don't really need to scream, just speak clearly?

  • LOOL NECCCK VEEINS

  • Man killer ab workout!!! I couldn't do the toe drivers though. I felt pain in my lower back after 2 of them so I skipped that exercise. Great video's though, thank you :)

  • Aww, I want to meet scott, so he can train me!:)

  • @SoTvCom just like 2 monkeys....

  • Im a freak for your oblique ;)

  • Killer exercises Scott, gonna keep me sore for days. >: D

  • props to all your hardwork and dedication, but i hate the 2 massive veins in your neck that pop out when you talk/yell

  • Scott do you have a DVD we can buy ? if so please reply

  • This looks intense! I'm excited to try these out.

  • A comprehensive and effective workouts for abdominal muscles!

  • Scott, I've sent you this in a message, and also on the ask Scott bit on your website. I have an injury in my right arm from the past that limits my wrist rotation and my elbow extension outward. I love fitness but it is very very evident that my symmetry is different in my chest, forearm, bicep and tricep. Please respond, or anyone else who can help. i will be posting a video monday to show of my concern and range of motion. Thank you show much. Please bump this so all can see it.

  • AMAZING OBLIQUES!!!! ^^, Thanks for the routines..

  • Hey Scott, love your videos! I have a question regarding nutrition: how do you regulate alcohol consumption? For me, drinking alcohol is something I like to do. I was just wondering if you do anything to keep your body lookin the way it is while havin fun and drinking. Thanks man!

  • @alakazam0master He doesn't drink.

  • @mhd112211 jealous

  • @mhd112211 u jelly?

  • @xAHGz u stupid? :P

  • this dude has the thickest neck veins I've ever seen

  • HOW DO YOU GET AN 8 PACK... I WANT ONE

  • @BEYONDILIMIT the ability to have a 4/6/8 pack is in your genetics. You need proper removal of stomach fat and addition of ab muscle to get the strength there, but you are not guaranteed an 8 pack because it may not be in your genes.

  • @BEYONDILIMIT genes

  • why the shouting?

  • you own the gym or you just go there?

  • Hey Scott I just want to send you a thank you comment because watching your videos has really helped me out! Before I started working out and just out of shape I was at like 195-200 of pretty much no muscle. Now I'm down to 170 with barely any fat and I've bulked up quite a bit over a 1 year time frame now. I can't wait to get where I fully want to be at and I'll have to post a before and after photo up on your facebook page!

  • Scott seriously I've been watching your videos for a while now, I have seen some great results! Thanks and keep the great videos coming!!

  • 5:00 why your face gets red while there are many kinds of colors lol :P

  • What if I don't have a medicine ball? Can I use another form of weight, and how much?

  • Can you do a video of your routine before and after you workout

  • Eisai protos manga!! Etsi, vale kai alla videos na pernoume ere8ismata!!!

  • 3:42 this is the best one :)

  • Really like the vids so please keep em coming! It would be much appreciated if you could mention specific rest periods that are appropriate for different sport applications. I'm really getting into BJJ and it involves a lot of core strength and I'd love to see a set designed specially for lower abs only. Thanx!

  • speak louder cant hear ya

  • Great videos Man. Watch you each week all the way from Poland (Europe). Got to say thanks to you I don't need a trainer at the gym all the knowledge I get from you. Cheers.

  • Good video man, I watch your videos every morning at 4 AM to get me in the mood to work out when I'm usually too tired.

    Thanks!

  • I love your abs video bro. Very creative. Some people look at me like I'm crazy. But then I'll lift my shirt up and they see what's up. I just smile and walk away. :)

  • Teach me how to: tssssh

  • Another good abdominal exercise video!

  • @KSBKmojo thanks man! :) Glad you like it!

  • you always exhale that loudly or is that just for demonstration haha

  • @Jacumbrella ummm. well a little bit of both! haha :)

  • @Jacumbrella i actually started doing the same exhalation thing (i get some stares), and it actually helps me remember to breath, which i forget to do during reps

  • Scott what's going on besides nation? xD

  • @emericaordie15 lol what do you mean?

  • @ScottHermanFitness he's joking (I hope) about when you say "what's going on nation?".. I remember seeing a top rated comment on one of your videos that said "nothing much scott"- nation. When you say the same thing in the beginning of these videos hilarity usually follows

  • when doing the Standing Opposite Elbow-To-Knee Crunch, the right way to do it is to keep the bottom of your foot parallel with the floor rather than turning your leg so that the bottom of your foot faces the wall. Also, don't bend your elbow in towards your body, keep it flared laterally so that you are actually twisting your trunk to touch your elbow to your knee.

  • @dxsinisterxb the way I was doing them was right as well. There are more than one ways to hit the obliques dude. EXPAND YOUR MIND!

  • @ScottHermanFitness No doubt brotha! That was actually directed at the multitudes that were like: 'o.O i see no difference!' But yeah yours were fine man!

  • @ScottHermanFitness how much u weight ??

  • Floor Wipers remind of The Big Comfy Couch

  • Scott "See the difference?"

    Me "no"

    Scott " thought you would!"

    me " WTF?"

  • Nice routine. Why is it you never use any of the gym equipment in your routines?

  • Scott "Tshh" Herman

  • Hey man. Love what you do, but have some question about all your primary workouts. 1) Do you do any warmup exercises to get ready to start your routine? For example, say your doing chest; do you do warm up the shoulders a bit by doing arm circles to heat up the rotater cuff? Also, do you stretch the muscles your about to workout in warmup and in cool down, if you do it? I'm just curious about that. Thanks and keep up the good job!

  • I'm really excited to try these.

  • thumbs up if you fart when you lift heavy weights! haha

  • @tsacco96 Man it isn't a good workout UNLESS I fart!....then keep farting all day because of the Animal Pump and Scivation Xtend lol.

  • 3:06 sounds like "balls off the ground, ears behind the head" really scott? Really?

  • I cant wait to try this on my ab day at the gym

  • just did this at home on my flor :D then lying on the couch, thinking, hey a glas of apple juice would be sweet OMG, i could barely get up :D killed my abs and obliques totaly :D

  • how long would it take you to complete the entire workout? as in doing all 15-20 reps 3-4 sets?

  • scott you are looking more ripped n pumped than ever!! looking good, great inspiration, you got some nuts V-shape abs at the bottom would be great if you can make a vid on that :)

  • @peterakatrexta I have one. search "Scott herman v-cut abs" :)

  • i take N O Xplode and im 16, is that ok?

  • @Gregersfitness

No! You are too young for N.O.-Xplode!

  • @Gregersfitness Its not doing anything bad to me though i only take half a scoop each workout, still get good pumps

  • you look like a wwe wrestler have you ever done it?

  • @keabler77 no, but I wrestled 8 years in middle and highschool!

  • @ScottHermanFitness isnt there only 7 years of middle school an high school?

  • @ScottHermanFitness where did you wrestle? I wrestled in MI, 3x state placer in high school. I knew you were a wrestler when I seen your vids lol.
