  • Amazing painting. Love the way you combine different moods within one setting. It sort of reminds me of Alex Greys art, specifically the album artwork for Tools "Lateralus" album.

  • How did u do the sunlight on the trees?

  • That is so beautiful and truly amazing! I wish I was that gifted

  • hippie stuff, very nice. I'm certain your GF loved it ;)

  • polymath ;)

  • did you see the wee moon man?

  • Geez, that was fantastic. You should really consider to make some paintings related to films, I know people who would pay a thousand dollars for a Stanley Kubrick portrait.

  • That's great. But I'm curious, you analyse films, you analys other parts of the media, you make independent films with your friends, and you apprently paint. So what do you actually do for a living? Do you earn any money on these things?

  • @FilmMasterKubrick

I earn part of my income from the sale of DVDs of my various films. I also work part time in social care and do bits of paid work relating to the different activities you mentioned. I really should concentrate more on increasing my income generally as there's an audience out there for these vids, but finances don't allow me to do it full time.

  • Loved the picture, apart of your incredible movie analysis, and other stuff i havent discovered yet from your channel, youre an artist, man.

    Subscribed.

  • How long did this take you from drawing up to final product??

  • @Anything2DoWithFilm I was working on it for about ten hours a week for at least three months. I love painting, but it just takes too long.

  • @robag88

Hehe, acrylic dries really quickly as well. You have to be quick with your blending...

  • this is awesome! my birthday is coming up too you know :) I hope you continue on and make the video sketch series.

  • to quote you...."film making is where i go now"........im an out of work actor, and willing to work for free, for now!!! let me know mate

  • such a creative painting. I like how the clouds by the wrists looks like a stone when the picture is flipped.

  • Wow! Is there anything you aren´t good at?? You are VERY talented Rob

  • Beautiful painting. I'll have to learn from your techniques. Great job Rob.

  • rob that was amazing, would love to learn to paint to that level of ability!!! I'm more of a words and music man myself, but painting truly lost art!

  • Great job , i really enjoyed it! I am also painting, sort of phantasy. On canvas but previously I print out a photo on it, then work over it. Success!

  • Robag, thanx. I'll check out your films on your YouTube page. Me, I studied filmmaking in art school wayback andhave come back to painting.

  • What fun! Thanx 4 the experience, Rob. Do you paint all the time, or is it just one process for channelling your active curiosity?

  • I very rarely paint these days. It's a very slow form of expression. Film making is where my efforts go now :)

  • Rob, how do you mix the paints so effectively? When I use pretty decent acrylics, I never have come up with a proper way of doing it effectively.

    What would you advise?

  • Is it the canvas because I wasn't using canvas?

  • You have inspired me to try painting my own pictures. Painted a few in highschool 25 years ago but havent since. Starting to feel that too many people just consume but dont create. Great video!!

  • Love it!

  • Are those microchips in the body that's being held in the cupped hands?

  • Sort of - they're supposed to be circuit boards.

  • I like how you can view the picture one way then flip it upside down and view it the other. I've never seen that before, very innovative.

  • wow... amazing!

  • You should do a painting at least once a month.

  • It would be nice to, but in between working, friends, family and making other videos it took many months to finish this painting alone :(

  • I know what you mean. I have artistic ability too and I can't seem to find the time to sit down with brushes and canvas myself either.

I checked out your other paintings on your collative learning web page.

You have a very good eye. Even if you produce something once or twice a year, you can say you have a lot to show for your painting talent.

I love the music by the way.

  • I've been putting some ideas together for a "design a monster" video - a series of sketches from initial ideas to finished design with some narration explaining the development process..

  • The video is brilliantly filmed too. Fantastic.

  • Is there anything Rob isnt good at? I bet hes also a proffesional soccer player and scientist as his part time job.

  • Wow : O

  • Yeah! That was what I was going to say! Amazing!

  • Brillaint stuff, reminds me of the fantasy wallpapers

  • oh god damnit the last comment i posted didnt go through!!! thats why the seven deadly sins thing doesnt make since anywho i said blah blah brownie points blah blah amazing artist , id love to see you paint your version of the seven deadly sins ......blah blah , the original comment was alot more apraising but i dont feel like retyping it all or trying to remember it word for word so bare with me : D

  • the seven deadly sins

  • wow, who would've known that rob ager was also a freaking incredible artist?

  • Great stuff!

So awesome to see a different side of you!

  • Alex Grey inspired...huh?*****

  • Just Googled his stuff. Very good.

  • Wow that's a badass painting and a great video! Hope you girlfriend likes it!

  • She seems to ... hehe.

  • I didn't think/feel surreal at the end .......... I thought/felt it was 2 opposites coming together in the middle to create a new element/life/thing.

  • I haven't named the painting, but that would be a great title "A new element/life/thing" hehe

  • leave some talent for the rest of us, will ya^^

that paining is just awesome. You could sell some the get funds... or paint your face since they gladly give funds to non-white filmmakers ;)

  • Painting doesn't really pay these days - at least not enough to justify the time it takes. I'd be on less than minimum wage :)

  • Most excellent, nice work dude

  • Is there anything this guy can't do?

  • Lots - make sense of financial statements, sing, DIY, play guitar, get film funding in the UK ... hehe

  • Did you have an initial thought of the meaning of the painting or did you just think it looked surrealistic?

  • I won't be explaining any meanings behind this picture unfortunately.

  • tell me what sort of marihuana u smoke o.O

  • Multi-talented bastard...

  • Like the green highlight at 4:35!

  • Your one creative and energetic Englishman!

  • you forgot the entrances at the poles of saturn

  • Dude, this is a beautiful painting. So surrealistic, but it retains peaceful symmetry. I love the attention to detail. How when I look at one side of the picture, all the other sides are completely different; like every different part of the painting is a different world.

I'm sure your girlfriend will love it.

  • Good work, splendid!

  • Love the painting, hate the soundtrack :p

but really enjoy that image, feel like shareing a

digital copy in a common/known format.?

  • I think sharing a hi-res digital version of the picture online would defeat its sentimental value for my girlfriend so not this time. Future painting projects certainly.

  • allright, Thank you for responding.

    Lovely picture.

  • thanks for sharing, enjoyed the painting and background track.

  • I really enjoyed seeing the details at the end, thanks for sharing this.

I agree with awilsonator, this reminds me of Alex Grey's work.

  • A really wonderful video, the painting reminds me of the Dragons Dream and Paper Tiger sci-fi / fantasy book collections that were produced many years ago.

Oh, and you've some fantastic art skills sir.

  • Those Paper Tiger books were awesome - I still have a few by artists like Jim burns and Tim White.

  • Hey cool, I've still got a collection of Dan Dare Pilot of the Future graphic novels by the creator and artist Frank Hampson, it was printed by Dragons Dream just before the book company changed their name to Paper Tiger.

  • Really nice painting Rob! Must have taken you a while to finish. You are one multi-talented man, that's for sure! Keep up the good work! I'm waiting for another in-dept film analysis;) *Cheers*

  • Amazing, you continue to impress. Great music and art. Hope she loves it.

  • Great work dude, and Music 2000 was the shit. :)

  • A true Renaissance Man

  • nice one - definitely check out the work of ALEX GREY - it'd be right up your alley

  • Most Excellent! What a lucky girl... Still, I wish the Grinch would steal Valentine's Day!

  • Awesome

  • Wow, Rob. That's fantastic!

  • i hope you don't break up with your girlfriend because you won't see that again lol

  • That happened with a previous girlfriend, but I didn't put much effort in on her pic lol

  • that was a fantastic picture Rob. Bet she'll love it.

  • Very nice! You're very talented. I love your moon. I love how subliminal you've made its face. Great job!

  • Nice work Rob! The song, The painting, and above all you ideas! Very, Very Good*****

  • Hi Rob, that's really intense art. Would you be willing to share an in-depth analysis of it? I know that may be too private, so I wouldn't be disappointed if you declined.

  • If it wasn't a painting for my girlfriend then I'd be happy to answer questions about its meaning :)

  • Awesome painting, man!

  • Cool!! I bet your girl loved it =D.

At least I did, hahaha. You're really good, as always.

    Keep it up!

  • This kicks ass, you kick ass, everything you do kicks ass; I was not aware it was possible for one man to be so full of kickass.

  • Great vid, thanks for posting. It was wery interesting to watch you paint it. And you are very talented, What a loving gift to your girlfriend............Happy Valentine!!

  • WOW!

  • awesome job! It's been ages since I took the time (or had the patience) to create artwork like this, mainly because I need a muse to spur me on. Enjoy your Valentine's. :)

  • Rob, you are an inspiring young man. Nice one.

  • robag88 is there anything you can't do? I always enjoy your videos, cheers.

  • Incredible! What a thoughtful and beautiful gift! If I had a boyfriend who gave something like that to me I'd be bowled over for sure, speechless (in a good way). You must really be smitten to devote so much time, energy and expense (I know art materials aren't cheap) into this. A very lucky woman indeed!

  • Just saw the rest of your paintings on the site, looks like Freud would have a field day with them. LOL ! Just messing about.

Nice work . That Screaming head coming out of the wall is a creepy image.

  • Wonderful painting there Rob. You better get your arse in a film studio, cause ill be pissed if you wind up doing something that doesn't utilize all your artistic, creative, and or writing talents. )p

    Nice Work!

  • Good lord man, you are one VERY talented individual.

  • coolnes

  • Beautiful. Magnificent. You are a really skilled guy. Love the painted-on frame.
