Hi there, say money isnt an option.. how does this compare against the yet to be released Razer Blade.. i am a big razer fan and i am seriously considering buying one.. what can of gaming benchmarks do you think it will set as opposed to this ( i.e crysis ) and how is this Asus for portability ?

I'm going to get the same model, just with a Intel Core i5-2410M,4gb of ddr3 1333 and a hybrid-hdd 500 gig (with a 4 gig build in SSD) and a max. resolution of 1600 x 900 it's 17,3 zoll.

price ´940€ I hope that thing won't disappoint me.

Those are Hybrid SSD's (confusing name) Hybrid HDD would sound better :P

those special HDD's have a build in flash storage were often used data can be stored there, but it's like 4 gigabyte each HDD

I got this same laptop (g73sw series) but mine can only go to 1600x1900 res, 1 gb video memory, and a dvd drive instead of blu ray. why is this?

@Mr2Wii g74sx is a monster and next to a regular 17-inch it looks way bigger. I heard the G53 is also big but it will be smaller than the g74sx obviously.

Go for the g73, well actually now the g74 is only 1300 at best buy, so go for that. Alianware is not reliable by any means (when compared to Asus). The only thing you really get is the cool keyboard, but truthfully, you will probably have a usb keyboard plugged in anyway.

which is called asus g74 i believe.

It should be a (lil) better than this one.

But the design should be ugly.

So if you're planning on buying one, then i would say you should pic the asus g73.

Xoticpc.com is selling a Sager NP8170 for about $1400 which is basically the same thing but with switchable graphics cards and no OS. But that's $200 more than the cheapest G73SW which I saw at Bestbuy.com, weirdly. But I would and will personally go for the Sager just so I can upgrade to a GTX 7** series down the line, I hope.

@johnnyrayguitars nope. they are launching G74 with a new card GTX 560M... which is essentially an overclocked 460m, i.e. no improvement at all. Myself I will either wait till Asus releases g73/74 with a GTX 485 or just buy a Sager laptop.

@sqeker09 That's because you got the dumbed down best buy version G73SW-BST8. Which only has 1 gig of vram and just only 1 7200rpm 750 gig HD.

The G73sw-a1 has 1.5 gddr5 vram on the GPU, two 500 gig SSD hybrid drives, as well as the backpack and mouse.

the one from BestBuy is not same laptop.It's watered down G73 with 1600 x 900 and 1GB graphics with only 128 bus.The ral G73 come with 1.5GB grapics and 192 bus.Thats a big difference when playing games.

@GOBLUEBOY777 That is the most demanding game out right now to my knowledge. So if it can stay at full 1080p and 25 plus fps for that game it will do it for any game out on the market right now.

@GOBLUEBOY777 - that's Metro 2033's benchmark running there. It's one of the toughest DX11 titles you can run and we had it dialed up. That's a good score for the benchmark, trust me. Especially in a notebook. This machine will pretty much play anything at native res with great IQ.
