Paul VI will well be considered one of the most disastrous popes in the history of the Church. His encyclical "Humane Vita" was one of his very few worthy acts.
Actually, it's called "Humanae Vitae", and, what makes you say that Paul IV was the most disastrous popes? The council renewed the traditions of the Church, but the way people and Priests interpreted was incorrect, how is this his fault?
For an accurate assessment of Pope Paul VI's pontificate you could read Cranmer's Godly Order: The Destruction of Catholicism Through Liturgical Change, Pope Johns Council, Pope Pauls New Mass and Liturgical Time Bombs in Vatican II, by Michael Davies; Iota Unum: A Study of Changes in the Catholic Church in the 20th century by Msgr. Romano Amerio; The Rhine Flows into the Tiber. A History of Vatican II by Fr Ralph M.Wiltgen; and Moscow and the Vatican by Fr Ulysse Floridi, SJ. TO NAME A FEW!
Thanks! I am a TLM'er myself, and I know what destruction the new Translation hath brought. But, what I am trying to say is, that, it's not what Paul intended.
The best measure of performance is results. Only God knows what Pope Paul's intentions were. We only know the results... catastrophe for the Church. Even if his intentions were good, this was certainly not the case judging by the hostile and vile way in which he treated Card. Mindszenty, Mons. Lefebvre, Mons. de Castro Mayer and so many others faithful to Tradition. Remember that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
In Spain, Paul VI would not appoint a single bishop who did not reject the Social Kingship of Christ and was not openly hostile to the Franco government which saved the nation from becoming a Soviet Gulag.... just for that --spiritually destroying an entire nation-- Paul VI deserves the death penalty...
Paul VI was sorry to say the worst Pope the Church has had in well over a century: indecisive, unsure, overly concerned with "modernity" and his left-wing political and intellectual friends. His custody of the Liturgy after the Council was a disaster.
Btw: how is doing those English subtitles? They are nearly incomprehensible.
Decent, honest Pious and maybe even Holy man, but a TERRIBLE Pope! He compained in 1972 that the Satan enterred the church. He was right about that, and it was his own fault, he opened the doors himself. His artificial novus ordo mass is a dragon, and not at all what Pope John XXIII meant with Aggiornamento. Read Venturum Sapientia by Pope John XXIII, and you have a good idea what his ideas were!
please, what is the music at 07:07 ???
