@Tomsanbomsi It's sort of easier to notice if you learn Japanese especially if you learn the clean classroom Japanese then it's really hard to understand anything Ai-Chan says because of her strong accent she pronounces some words really differently to how they normally sound especially when she says a long sentence. It's like if you are English and listen to a South African speaking English the accent changes the sound of the words.

depending what region you live in in Japan you have a dialect, (ex: in osaka they speak kansai, that one is most commonly known), ai-chan is from fukui prefecture, so she speaks in fukui dialect, It's kind like in english, how people talk in southern or british accents, does that help?

IIRC Yaguchi was leader for a few weeks but had to retire due to the "no boyfriends" clause in their contracts. Iida probably got the job first just from being the eldest (I think) after Yuko left.

Actually, Kei was older than Kaori by a few months, but Kaori had seniority since she was First Gen.

Kei was officially sub-leader or "co-leader" for the rest of her time in MM, but she never really embraced it. She didn't have the personality for it, and Nacchi and Mari were both more leader-like than her.

The same thing happened with Miki and Yossie in 2005: Miki was older, but Yossie had seniority.

It's like with any language, they each have their own regional accents. For example; in the U.S. people from New England, the South, and the Upper Midwest speak with diffrent accents, but it just sounds like English to non English speakers.

She's Japanese... xD But from Fukui...a certain area in Japan. As far as I know they have this type of "morse code" accent to their speech... (i.e. lack of (or weird kind of) intonation on some parts) It's somewhat hard to tell in Japanese since we're more than likely not familiar with the language, but this vid is a good example of the accent. When she says "It was love at first sight." it doesn't sound the way you would normally say it. The first few words had the exact same intonation.

From what I've gathered, the Fukui dialect is sort of like a down-south kind of thing. Like, Takahashi's accent compared to someone from Tokyo or whatever would sound like an Alabaman or Georgian accent to someone from New York. I don't know a lot of Japanese, but from what I've noticed, Fukui seems to have a different pronunciation of certain sounds as well as different slang for terms that sound odd to non-Fukui speakers. Ai's speech also seems to run together, if that makes any sense.

yes... thats right, Fukui Prefecture (along with Wakayama Prefecture and another one whose name i dont remember right now) is part of rural Japan (i think it has only two medium-sized cities, Fukui and Sakai), and its dialect and accent are considered to be sinonyms of unculturedness and country harshness.
