  • It would be cool to see Brewster jam with Mayer HAHAH.

  • God and the blues. Two of my favorite things =)

  • @bondman00794 Amen. Lol :)

  • Okay guys and gals, I need tabs for this song bad.

I'm doing a try out for a ministry team and this is the song I really want to play.

so if anyone can help me, then please help me.

    Thank you

  • Is he going to make a volume 3? And if he is, is he going to put this one in there as a lesson? That would be awesome if he did, this is probably my favorite song by him, this and Give Him Praise. Amazing song!

  • just finished watching 17 again and Lincoln looks just like Thomas Lennon. EXACTLY like him. hair and all.

  • Unless I'm mistaken, LB was my corner apartment neighbor back around '94, in the Academy Village apts in N. Hollyweed. I guess he was playing with the Steve Perry band at that time? ..at least I think it was him. :P

  • Lincoln chose the Best genre . " Christian music." , his song gives hope and lot of things that could change ur life. Unlike other secular music that makes u emo. :D

  • he is playing the electric guitar like an acoustic guitar!

  • He doesnt use a pod anymore! He now uses a unit called Axe Fx through his Vox

  • It's cool, he's talented, But it's so John Mayer's Gravity

  • Amazing!! Any chance of getting a chord chart for this one? Especially from the A chord at the end of verse one going through the turn around leading up to the chorus. Just received volume one and two, worth every cent.

  • If you PM me your email I will send it to you.

  • this is insanely brilliant! thanks for posting these instructional mini-vids, lincoln - thanks and GOD BLESS!!!

  • Great songs! great guitar sound!! how do you achieve that??

it sounds like a clean guitar but when you stroke down on the strings really hard the sound gets dirtier, when you solo for example. how do you do that? thanks!

  • he achieves that type of tone with a pod x3 live by using a dual tone (2 tones at one time) and setting the gate(a gate is an effect that will add gain to your tone once a certain volume is reached) to a certain desired gain thus adding that dirty sound on the downstroke it which he picks harder

  • @skiddyproductions... he doesnt use the dual tone as his main few patches. and a thats not at all what a gate does. this is why i have less and less faith in peoples online reviews and opinions!

  • A couple of things he has...one is the Boss Dyna-Drive, though he mainly uses it as a clean boost, but that pedal can help you achieve that effect, and also the volume pot on his guitar is modded to allow him to roll off the volume to clean up the sound, but not lose any top end. I've found I can even achieve the sound with my Boss Blues Driver to a lesser extent, but the Dyna Drive is better for that. Hope that helps.

  • @rodwyr Volume mod: Treble-bleed mod

  • @rodwyr ... his TONE POT is modded to allow him to roll off a bit of the treble of the single coil bridge pickup. really a great idea. has nothing to do with the volume pot... c'mon guys!

  • @jwperreault

Just now saw this post. I know the bottom tone pot controls his bridge pickup. The tone pot takes off some of the harsh top end of the Strat bridge pickup. The treble bleed mod allows him to roll back the volume but keep a very defined top end. Perhaps my description wasn't clear previously. I described it previously as Lincoln did as per Vol. 1 of the DVD series.

  • PLEASE put this song on volume 3. Thanks Lincoln!

  • Lincoln,

Your a great talent & player, & do a great job of giving God the praise with you heart man! Enjoy your stuff. From one Guitar brother to another. Thanks for the music. Come on over & check out some of my instrumental work sometime. I'd love to work with you someday! God Bless!

    Troy Clark

  • Thank you for the sounds of heaven that you bring. They echo through the land through many voices lifting praise to our King. As a worship leader, I'm always inspired and challenged by your music. God bless you.

  • I love this song. Taking the blues and playing it for God. Amen

  • If you've ever heard Lincoln's testimony, you'd know that with Jesus, his talent would be meaningless. What else would like his songs to be about? It's not all about fame my friend.

  • dude ur freakin great!

  • I really dig this guy's playing. If he'd release instrumental-only CDs I'd actually buy them, but I just can't get past the Christian thing. I mean, be a Christian if you want, but does every single song have to be about Jesus? Too bad, though; this guy could be another John Mayer, and I even like his playing better than Mayer's.

  • Another John Mayer. Dude, this guy was playing with Steve Perry (Journey) while John Mayer was still crapping his diapers.

Anyway, glad you're listening and sorry you can't get past the whole "Chritian thing". Why does something so peaceful and loving scare you so much?

  • Listening to christian music won't kill you, lol... I bet you don't agree (or even listen closely) with everything said by the secular artists you listen to either, ya know?

Lincoln Brewster plays praise music, as a genre. Your question is kinda like asking disturbed if every song has to be bouncy nu-metal.

If you like it, listen to it. Praise music is actually a small genre, so at least he's not taking the easy road, and it's not like there aren't plenty of secular alternatives.

  • you know he played for steven perry for years he dosent need to be the "next" john mayer

  • You are such an idiot dude!! He is a Christian musician!! Also. he has been around alot longer than Mayer. Get a clue...

  • yeah he is great, but God was the one who gave him the talent and Lincoln chooses to write about/to God. It's kind of hard to worship God through lyrics when they aren't christian lyrics.

  • You know you can just listen and enjoy the song right?

Why does every single song have to be about Jesus? coz this guy dig Jesus so much man..that what makes him..him..

just like if I ask..let's see, this is just an example "why does every boyband's song has to be about love?" sorry if it's a bad example, but it's just an example..:)..

  • Check out his version of "Here I Am To Worship" at the end of his Everlasting God cd. It's purely instrumental, not a word about Jesus. But, since it's such a popular song among Christians, we recognize it just the same.

Jesus loves you man, believe it.

  • Lincoln is who he is because He is a Christian. Please take a chance on Jesus yourself like we did. There is certainly no better place to be.

  • well dude, he is Christian, and that is the point of Christianity, God/Jesus,

  • His inspiration and feel for his music comes from the One who is the giver of the gift! Jesus paid it all for me and for you. When one realizes how much we need our creator you can't help but praise the One who is worthy...Jesus Christ...I couldn't get past it either some time ago but now I am thankful for the gift He gives and I give it all back to Him!

  • @learnworshipguitar Amen to that!!!!!!! :-)

  • you are my hero...

  • our youth band is going to start doing some of your songs. our youth pastor talks alot about you Pastor Matt clayton... i like your work.

  • Hey Link, from your florida brother. you have an awesome voice and stiff one of my fav. guitar players!! bless ya bro Peter Siracuse

  • your guitar playing makes me happy!

  • Ive met Linc a couple times. Hes just an amazing, down to earth guy who loves Journey! :D haha

  • great music thank you

  • what chord is that @1:22

  • its a G# with a C as bass note there is cool (classical music) trick for modulation without sounding weird: play an A chord, than a F# with an A# as bass note, than a B, than a G# with a C as bass note as you can see, the bass goes up a half step with every chord, you can do this as many times a you wish the shape for those chords is: * 5 4 2 * 4 this an E with a G# as bass note, you can move this around to be whatever chord you want it to be! let me know if this worked for you
  • what chord is that @1:22

  • Does anyone know when Vol. 2 of his instructional dvd will be available?

  • Vol 2 will be available in the first quarter of 2009, says Lincoln himself.

  • they dont deliver to Canada! stink i wanna buy the stuff!

  • Thanks for your videos Lincoln you are among my all time favorite players. I get more blown away by your playing everytime I try to learn your guitar parts. We are playing 7 songs this Sunday and 3 of them are yours. The arms of my savior, Today is the Day and Surrender. Our Worship Leader loves your stuff. We also get to play a lot of Tommy Walker, Chris Lazote, Ryan Delmore and of course Chris Tomlin and stuff like that. I can't wait for your next video. It will make learning your parts easier

  • I praise God for the blessing and the inspiration that your music and playing is to me. I play electric guitar in my churches worship team and we play a lot of your music. I am always pushing my abilities trying to nail yout parts. I can't wait to get volume two of your instructional videos. Sometimes the best thing to play is nothing, but God has used you to give me the liberty to give it my all when I play. I play what God puts on my heart and not just what I think I should play.

  • man, God is awesome! and I love this song. LB you rock!

  • I am actually a pianist and I love the jazz influence. This song took my breath away the first time I heard it. You are an amazing guitarist. God Blesss

  • Definitely your best written solo Linc. It definitely isn't the one with the most shred, or the one that makes me jump up, but the one that makes me sit down. How you explained the expression of the song and the building is exactly how it comes out of the speakers.

    Another great job.

  • Love the song! God Bless!

  • thanks for the technique..you're my favorite guitar player. you inspire me to master the guitar hahaha!

  • my favorite song of your record :)

  • You rock lincoln brewst! I got your new album and its rockin blockin! Your an amazing guitar player and an amazing singer with amazing song writing skills you rock and keep on rockin!

  • thanks for that

    good stuff man

  • Lincoln Brewster is an excellent singer. I also love Todd Agnew's voice. But they can't sing the same stuff because they have unique voices.

  • hey man! you may not be the best singer, but you definitely bless & inspire a lot of people. keep it up & God bless you!

  • Your God given talent empowers us all! Thank you for sharing!

  • This song is AMAZING!!!
