I only model american style layouts, because european in general try to put too much into the minimun space, but watching yours I must admit this is one of the best layouts I've ever, ever seen; if not, this is very nearly at the top of THE BEST !! and believe me, I've seen a lot of them through the last 20 years. Not only is extremely beautiful and exquisitely well designed, also all yours vids are made at the highest shooting standards, even better than many pros !!. Greetings from Chile.

Wow. Beautiful layout. Many layouts suffer from their owners trying to cram too much into too little space. But I look at yours and there's a nice sense of space and composition aroung the various highlights - like a nice picture or painting. There's also a sense of harmony. Things look like they belong where they are. BTW did I see some M-track in parts of the layout or were my eyes deceiving me?

How much would something like this cost to build? I am thinking of starting a model train set and don't know what make to buy. I was going to buy Hornby and then I lived in Germany for a year and love the Maerklin models. I don't know what to do? Can someone give me advice, please?? Thanks

@jjamespk Locos start at like 80 euros each (6 wheel switcher), and the most valuable ones have a tag of 400-500 euros. Cars cost like 20-50 euros. Tracks (c-rails) are like 2 euros per piece.. Go to events and buy your track there.. Much cheaper..

And on events they like to tell you how to build such a railroad too..

The red locomotive is BR18 201 and can be seen operational on many posts on youtube. I've seen it also in green, I'm not sure what scheme it's in today but it has an extra (water) tender.

It is (or was?) run by the Dampf Plus Company in Germany and is the fastest running steam locomotive in the world today...............

I'm surprised about the large fandom of Märklin all over the world.

There Trains are not really fine detailled and Märklin is too expensive and the tracks looks really

unnatural (busbar).

Look at the Modelbuilder Roco. Much better in all parts. Sorry, but it's true.

actually i dont think that Roco is better try this take one Marklin model in your hand and take another model from Roco in ur other hand, and drop them at the same time

Roco are not owned by Märklin.

Roco and Fleischmann are owned by a German industrialist. Märklin is too expensive. You can get the same models from Roco and there is no difference. Thats my opinion.

Roco Once made a pony truss bridge kit for Altas model railroads at one time but they stopped carring it a few years ago but that very same model is made by Roco today

I think that marklin build better quality, and last much longer. My dad has got trains over 40years old, and are running like they dd when he first got them. Same with the track and cars.

This is one of the reasions why I like metal railroad bridges they are very hard to break and it's easy to see a 50 to 60 year old metal model still on a layout in good shape as long as it's paint is cleaned.

@bluescan92: HOWEVER, if the plastic model is molded in ABS resin it is about as strong for a given thickness as potmetal (zinc based alloys) BUT with better surface finish and detail. Athearn uses this resin on their U.S. style Genesis F Units. They are remarkably strong. Besides WHY did you drop the model regardless!!!!
