  • I bought this game for c64 but couldnt remember how fantastic the music is. Well i am almost 40 now!

  • Heaps better than the shitty arcade / 16-bit dragons lairs. this one has playability.

  • Wow the water looks even better than that in Gothic 3. Well no but Dragons Lair 2 has propably less bugs.

  • 4:34 wow now THAT an impressive 3d animation even for today! too bad we never saw it as kids playing the game in the 80s because the dragons lair games where just too damn hard to get past the 2nd screen of the first and second game ! ;) and the music rules !:)

  • Thumbs up if this music still gives you goosebums!

  • Do you think that TV show knightmare was based on this at all?

  • @unifiedreality Thinking about it I would say yeah as it was about the same time ( 1985/6 ) ish if I remember correctly. Loved them both as a kid - 50p a go in the Arcade when on holiday and being 12 years old then only completed a few rooms - may even download the Ps3 Dragon's Lair for Nostalgia sake even though its not a " proper " game. Happy memories :-)

  • My favorite is the second level. It's like "why is Dirk in TRON now?" :D

  • How the hell did they did they get all that game into a 64k machine..Amazing!

  • At 7:55 it sounds like beginning of "Smooth Criminal"

  • Well at least the music is way better then in the first game :)

  • The musics in this game are excellent !

  • gota love the music on the first level!!

  • Not II, but ok.

  • Music sounds AWESOME!! ...but I wouldn't expect any less from the C64. :)

  • That's right, around 1:14 there's a real SID power :) 3.28 too, like David Whittaker's Menace or Armageddon Man :} . P.S. music from Terra Cresta and Slaine are one of my favs, of course there's a lot more, Supremacy, Thundercats, etc. etc. etc.

  • ehy! it's equal to the arcade "Dragon's lair 2 - Time Warp"!!!!

  • I never got past the second part with the boulders. How I hated this game - except for the music.

  • This version of Dragon's Lair was LAME

  • Damn...I alwyas liked the music on level 2..used to records lots of C64 tunes on casette tape and play it on my walkman back in the days :)

  • wow this game looks very exciting, NOT LIKE THAT NES CRAPSHOOOT

  • thanks for this video - i love the music from this game even today

  • Man, this game sucked to play on tape. You'd have to zero your tape player (dataset?) at the boat bit, then if you pass it loads from the tape a while, but if you die, you had to rewind the tape back to zero and then press play to reload level 1.

  • i can only say that the music for this game was pretty good

  • i loved the original arcade games, and the music for this c64 version, but overall the c64 version blew. i hated it

  • I had this game but i think it was broken, in the first lvl i could get through the left and right ways,, but when ever it came to the middle the boat always hit the rocks without fail.

  • You have to push 'up' to get through the middle one. And if you flinch the wrong way at all, you die.

  • I hated that fucking "boulder" phase. It looked like Dirk ran into a 70's Disco hall. And I could never tell where he was in relation to the balls. It's nice that I finally get to see what was past that.

  • ye olde whirlpools. haha.

  • what memories :'(

    SID RULEZ!

    music @ 1:14 is fu**ing awesome!

    thx 4 uploading!

  • @Mogart81 listen to that song on the 8580 SID (new) as opposed to the 6561 SID (old) that is used here. Believe me its 2X better. Most SID players and C64 emulators are programmed to use the 6561 SID as it is usually better. This is one of a few games were the 8580 SID is superior.

  • 3:28 Now that is what you call MUSIC!

  • If you like sid music.... Check out the Zsid emulator....

It will let you play sid tunes on a regular PC!!!

  • WOW....flashbacks to when i was 5 or 6,i remember the boat level at the the start....but i think the game stopped working for me after that,i remember the first one alot better and how ridiculously hard and crazy it was(for a 6 year old anyway(iam 23),got to the fire level..no futher.. )....and it wast the first or last time a C64 game frooze on me lol....

  • I can play that track on the piano (0:13 - 1:10)

  • What happens if the mudmen get you on their level?

  • There is a short cutscene (more a picture) and you stand in the mud and lose a life.

  • And do the mudmen look angry or happy in the picture?

  • They look happy so far I know. (It`s been a while I played that game)

  • And the scene looks like they're ready to sing a musical number to Dirk about the fact that he'll love being in the mud with him, right?

  • its great watching this as i only ever finsihed dl2 with a trilogic expert cart hack (remember those).shame the sid emulation on this one is screwed as the music doesnt sound right

  • they think they have good gichics

  • i remember breaking quite a few micro switch joysticks (remember those ) in frustration because i could not get to the lizard king bit which had the best music in the game except for the boulder part oh memories

  • I've played with tihs myself. I was 6-10. The music usually is really good (except the map when the lizard king chases us)

  • I used to watch my dad play this for hours when I was a toddler. Ah the memories.

  • Long live Ron Hubbard :)

  • Although this looks nothing like the orignal thing, they tried really hard to follow it well

  • I love the flying horse song.. you could hear a voice-like "la la la". It stuck with me all these years. Thanks for posting it! It reminds me of the c64 batman song a little. My favorite was the c64 altered beast title screen song. I used to blast it!

  • Actually this game was not too hard compared to some other C64 games which wer impossible.

The music in this game is fantastic! Rob Hubbard rules!!

  • Maybe the hardest game on C64 ever.

  • I bet this game was pretty raid for its time. Nice attempt at pseudo 3D!

  • i had this game, it was a headache to play

  • Look at all these gamers spoiled by today's overblown graphics. Only us hardcore gamers can see the genius in these old games. To me, these graphics look amazing, and the music is awesome. Is this Ron Hubbard?

  • Yes, its Rob Hubbard.

  • I dont get what this version had anything to do with the others. I realize it's C64 but it looks dumb.

  • Love the music on the throne room. Has a medieval valiant sound to it.

  • Wow color cycling animation!

  • Looks almost as hard as the arcade one (note the word almost).

  • Yea I remember countless attempts at this game. took about 1 month playing all night to beat.

  • This version looks a lot more enjoyable than the arcade version

  • Damn straight!! The music after all this time is still good. Its been soooo long since ive seen this game too.Yeeaahhh!!Thanks for the memories who ever put this video on here. This game it was always better to watch and listen than to play.

  • i really don't like this game, but i have to admit that it's got brilliant music, especially on the boulder level :3

  • GREAT!:)

  • man, the music to the marble chase fucking ROCKS! :D

  • this games is horrible

  • mmm just like the laserdisc

  • C64 really was the worst when it game to graphics, but there were good games! =D
