I never could stand this commercial. I don't know what irks me more - their making a big deal out of this crummy coffee or their pretentiousness in eneral.
I wonder if Jean Luke and some other French guy are sitting around going, "I remember those two whores from America..." And then they both go, "Debra and Elizabeth!" and laugh like French guys do.
I remeber this commercial. They did a spoof of it in a play called "Star Dreck", which the cast(s) of Star Trek LOVED by Paramount didn't (well, they didn't like NOT getting the revenue, anyway). Does anyone remember the commercial for GFIC with the vaguely European woman whose VERY American kid at the end says "mommy, can a have a glass of 'worter'?"
I know one of the actress' names. The one on the left with the bobcut; her name is Amy Steel. Let's see how many of you remember Amy. She played a character by the name of Jenny in a little movie known as Friday the 13th Pt 2. Her hair was much longer and blonde. I don't know the other actress. But I've only seen Amy Steel in this commercial and in an episode of the A-Team. Did I pass?!
oh God, I remember this one...such phoniness! I never did drink that "coffee"...it's a bunch of sugar/sweetener and brown chemicals in a little tin box with a plastic lid. Seriously!
Phoebe Snow the best 0.31 seconds that kept her life going the bit of money she made.I know Phoebe Snow's voice anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Peace Barbara......................
When I tell people about "that hilarious commercial where the chicks are drinking coffee and they say "Jean LUC!" nobody believes it ever existed. Now I have proof! Bwahahah! Thank you!!
There is a MAD TV version of this...the 2 ladies come home and their house has been robbed and they look at each other in fear and say "Who could have done this?" and written in blood on the cabinets in the Kitchen it says "Juan Luke" and they open up the cabinets and it is full of the coffee. It was so funny I almost started crying.
International coffee? What does that mean, anyway? Was it grown on the border between two countries? That's almost as dumb as Folgers boasting about their coffee being "mountain grown", as coffee cannot grow anywhere else.
Daid Letterman and Paul Shaffer used to do their own version of this commercial. I remember how excited they got when the both thought of "Jean-Luc!" LOL
I wonder if General Foods had to pull this commercial because it referred to a waiter named "Jean-Luc"? It aired about the time that "Star Trek: the Next Generation" premiered. (The starship captain in what "Star Trek" fans called "TNG" was named "Jean-Luc Picard".)
what does this remind you of? Vanilla? Come on, it was flippin' France, Jean freaking Luc, lady? I mean, why are you guys even friends - she's CLUELESS!
Whyy have that hideous nutcase ruining a great old commercial at the end?! ..i know, funn-nny, ha-ha.. but shee's given mee the spooks ever since I saw her on a clip from Wife Swap! Yiiikes! ..i hope they got her some "help"! ~Great video!
