When I was about 16 I bought the album The Dude. I played this part of the cassette with this song so much that it wore the tape out. I loved the line "How can you just leave me like a broken toy. Thanks Patti. Incidentally I bought her first album "Every home should have one." Brilliant album.
@scrappa27 it IS good, but Stevie wrote 2 other songs that have equally great bass lines. One is Roberta Flack's "Don't Make Me Wait Too Long" and the other is Stevie's own "Do I Do?" (but only the original unedited album track has the great bass).
So i was 7 when this dropped and bugged the hell outta my mom to explain the words to the hook..but damn...i got it now..if you really cared about anyone else i know you wouldn't hurt me...i had to live it first man..Stevie is a beast. I love him and so does the rest of the music community on the planet. Now if I could just get my hands on one of those CS80's he's playing for less than 5 freakin figures....dammit!
What is not to like about this classic joint with Quincy Jones featuring Patti Austin written by Stevie Wonder? Thank you so much for posting this forgotten gem of a song!!!
i think she did yes, she said she needed to lose weight because she didnt wanted to end like her mother. as far as i know.. but there are sooo many great tunes of her! like the live songs on my channel somewhere. take a listen ;)
Is that a fact that MJ was on that backround? I always wondered that. I know around this time Q' Pattie and Mike were all on the same scene as well as Stevie who wrote this. Like on "All I DO" The O'Jays, Betty Wright and Mike Jackson sing backround.
