@afromaiko I agree! Even though docking "doesn't" hurt puppies, I believe dogs deserve their tails. they were born with them. who are we to take that away?
Excellent! She's a bit better at it now, and has learnt to not flick it into the air so much. However she's become really drooly if you make her wait for too long. I'll have to post an updated video sometime!
wow, mine can't get past about 3 seconds before saying 'screw it' and eating the treat. i think he's trained us to give him free treats while we think we're training him to do this trick. they're too crafty.
how cute i have one and she always sleeps on the sofa and snores loudly and loves to nibble u and give u and is fun to play with and the vid is soooooo cute!!
She already could sit & stay well. So we taught this trick by placing a treat on her nose but taking it away if she moved or if it slipped off. You may have to gently put your hand under their chin to hold it up. After a few seconds of staying still then hand over the treat. Later, once Mika got use to the balancing, we'd say her release word and she'd snap at it as it fell. If it falls on the ground grab it quickly and try again.

I had a black lab who could do this - she made the rounds of the neighbors at the "cocktail hour", showing off and getting treats from everyone...

oh and why didnt you dock the tail?
XxClemsonTigersXx 2 years ago
Docking is illegal where we live.. and they have so much more expression when they can wag their tails about!

XxClemsonTigersXx 2 years ago
Just keep trying, if they drop the treat just take it away and repeat until they stay still.
afromaiko 2 years ago
My cavalier does that. Please watch:P all dogs look so cute when they are sitting there with a treat balancing on their nose:)

The look on its face after it eats the treat clearly says, "More treats?!"

If we leave it there too long sometimes she will slowly drop her nose until the treat falls off and then try to eat it.
