I am highly skeptical. All gizmos aside, it still has to be a good car. Big car companies have decades of experience, built hundreds of millions of cars and put gazillions of dollars into R&D - and modern cars still have huge reliability issues. In the past decades, independent "lets build a car from the ground up!"-companies have failed almost every single time. This thing will probably just fall apart on the first high speed chase.
@Gnometower Frankly, the idea is good, but the execution is horrid. Voice recognition is horrible - you still have to look for the voice button, why not just put the controls on the wheel like the new PI? It just looks like a cheap tech demo. And locking in the lights , siren, etc. is going to be an issue for departments that want to re-use old equipment to cut costs. But hey, at least it's competition, which is always good for the customer.
The cost of this car should put the final nail in the financial coffin for the city of any agency who buys this thing.

One thing they never address in videos/articles about this car is what happens when it's time to retire it. There's no way they could re-sell one of these, and make some money back. With built-in lights and whatnot, it just couldn't happen.
@2007Escalade Carbon will have a program to trade-in retired vehicles for recycling; they do not want these being used by non-law-enforcement. It's on their website....

But since this cars uses many BMW components, a BMW 3 or 5 series with this 300 hp diesel engine should be very comparable in terms of performance and handling. Of course, they aren't anywhere near the E7's level of coolness...

it also sucks because the lights are overkill and if you crash it during a chase or pit maneuver...thats a expensive car...yes the flir might help and backseat but it isnt the best police car ive seen...plus it might cause more accidents because people will want to stop and stare..especially while driving..people do that enough as it is..this will make it worse

cause that means you have to take it out and put it on yourself every time you ge tin and out and in some cases that can be bad especially if you need to get out of your car quickly to say chase someone down, you never know if you might need it, and having an extra easily deployable pistol in the car can also be a bad idea

@saberjpg1975 What you forget here is that this car is much lighter than the old police car. This is made of pure carbon, carbon is much lighter than aluminium. This engine has an enormous potential even at 1000 rpm, much better acceleration and it has a top speed of 250 km/h Thats plenty enough.

diesel...that is one word i love to here. plus they have that extra torque to ram pursued vehicles and push cars off the road after accidents during emergencies. plus that torque helps off-road. and i know every cop goes off-road at least once a month.

But there are countries where you really don't need this police ca, like Norway: most roads are quite small and got many curves, but even on the bigger roads a Volvo V70 police car catches a Mercedes SLS very fast

The only thing really going for the car is the crash frame in it and the seats, and the seperate compartments between you and the crumb. No more hookers trying to whizz on you through the barrier; remember one partner saw her legs go up in the mirror turned around with the spray and hit her right on the button; she screamed and rolled side to side. so did the car since she was 300 lbs...
