For anybody else who hates new nascar but loves this old racing do what I do. On sundays i watch the race on tv muted while paying closer attention to my computer while I watch these great old ones.
@NASCARfan22k after the first two races in 1996, Terry Labonte was 30th in points and Jeff Gordon was 43rd. Their seasons really had to turn around and it went on to a Hendrick 1-2 finish in the points.
4:13 shows how dishonest NASCAR's yellow line rule is - today that would be controversial because he'd be below the yellow line.

188 and change on fresh tires - they don't need 194-plus for good racing there.

The low-angle shot looking up the western short chute out of the trioval is the best view of all.

I love late 90's NASCAR, these are the drivers and paint schemes I grew up watching. I went to the Atlanta race this year when I was 2 haha.

Jeff Gordon lost the series championship in the first race of the season.
NASCARfan22k 3 years ago 10
He dominated the year with 10 wins though, just wasn't as consistent as his teammate.
NAVGFan 3 years ago
Yeah, he had five DNFs that year, that's what really killed him.
m140m 3 years ago
The 10 wins was awesome... it was the start of three straight dominant seasons. The best time to be a Gordon fan!

@MIBFreakPack Labonte led the most laps here and at Rockingham the next week.

@STP43FAN1 That too. Hendrick had a great team that year with those 2. It just didn't start off well.
