Why bother commenting on a video if you're going to bitch about it? I listened to the other version, and I didn't find it near as good as this one. You can hear all the anger and emotion in his voice, it's sounds better to a slow beat. But that's my opinion. So whatever.
WoW! Hell Yeah! Love Something Corporate. Listening to a lot of them, Hey You!, The Offspring, Paramore, My Chemical Romance, F.O.B., and No Doubt...
Hey You! is still pretty new, but they're waaay dope. Rock/Pop/Punk with a real cool edge. Plus they've got a hot chick singer ;-) ...you should check em out...
The thing that was great about the original was the fury, everything came at you at a million miles an hour, and the lead singer basically spat snarled all of his lyrics. This version is too mellow and soft, it's like somebody that's never been angry trying to describe anger.
@shane931000 I kinda like the more melancholy feel of this version. I do prefer the more standard angry/frustrated version, but there's definitely room for this style.
@PeonSanders911 HAhahahaha.....you are 100% correct. This is a horrible cover. It's like they woke up and said, "hey, how can we butcher a great song today".
As much as i like SOCO slow and laid back version, i still think BUCKCHERRY'S version is the best ever. It just goes with the lyrics and tone of the song better.
"Love the original version. Saw someone recommend this version. Extremely disappointed. This really sucks. 'Anything, Anything' isn't meant to be a soft, slow song with pianos and backstreet-boy vocals. It's meant to be angry, confused, lost. The guy in the song is willing to do anything for this girl, and opened himself to her. And she's turned his back on him. He's sad. But I think he's more angry. This is a horrible cover/interpretation..."
I actually like this version better than the original; his voice is just lovely, and you can really hear the passion in his voice. The slowness and softness makes it less angry than the original, but you can still detect anger there. It's just masked more by a sense of urgency in trying to get through to this girl; the result is both beautiful and more heart-wrenching.

@GrockJake Obviously the original is a masterpiece but this is damn good. You must be like 15 and dont know real music yet. Its okay. Youll understand in about 10 years or so.
@babylonkid That's usually the kind of shit people say for a lack of better arguement. I'm almost 19 and I know what 'real' music is. And I'm also entitled to my opinion-- if you like this, cool. However, this version just isn't for me and I think it shames the original. Which is my opinion.
@GrockJake Im glad to hear your opinion...and we know its a cover so its of course its not as good. I was nearly right on about your age too, and like you....this is not my cup of tea but I recognize good when I hear it.
@GrockJake I agree with you about the fact of the intent of the song. That's what's beautiful about the ability to cover, ahha. You can interpret it to your own. :)
@GrockJake Im glad you pointed that out to me. You better tell the people that wrote/play/own the song cause I dont think they know how to play their own music.
Andrew can take any song and give it an entire different meaning. TBH it's better than the original, just the same as some of his other covers. Although I love his originality in his own music.
@xosir well I can only speculate. But that sounds exactly like Andrew when his voice matured a little. Likely timeframe 2003 to early 2004. Likely performed with Josh Partington. They did a lot of duets during that time frame. This is a great cover.
I actually think this song would sound great slower. I mean, whoever said you can't sing a slow version about getting into fights with your girlfriend and her dad and all that crazy shit has obviously never felt completely drained and numb after it all.. It actually sounds more of a plea, more honest, really. :)
Though I do admit I like the original more.. This one is still good.
Well, after listening to the song a couple more times to make sure I'm not just being an ass, I don't think it's as out of place a I earlier thought. But, to my personal tastes, still not there.
@Jessica271979 I'm sure Something Corporate works hard and are good musicians, but no. Look at the lyrics. You can't do a song about getting wasted and crazy, getting mad and calling each other names, being sick of each other, and getting in a big fight with your girlfriend's Dad, and sing it all in a mellow tone. Some songs can be done both ways, i.e. Layla. But, Anything, Anything, Anything in a mellow tone is about as mismatched as Rammstein singing "Do you know the way to San Jose".
Love the original, but this cover is awesome. I just played it for my soon to be wife and we both agreed this is our wedding song! (if we can find a download of it)
I think - "I'll give you pain, give you diamonds, give you pills" would be a good line (It's what I always thought it was & it fits the emotion of the original
Is there a place where you can download this song by them? I LOVE it.

I will admit this is a talented dude, but this is not the song to showcase these talents. Stick with Hall and Oates covers with that style.

This is a much better song without powerchords lol. Soco's version has just so much passion. So much desperation. So much beauty

Shit as fuck.

Also, that guitar riff is basically time of your life by Greenday.
