The new TF movie really screwed up the storyline of the original TF. No, Cybertron wasn't destroyed, The Autobot Matrix of Leadership wasn't kept inside some cave in the desert. I mean I could go on but its pointless. If a true representation of the TF could be made as a live action movie then: One- the characters stay and look the same as the original G1 series. Two- Do not deviate off of the original storyline and concept. And Three- kill that new cartoon series because it sucks!

Also, I find it strange that these now classic-movie characters have had very few appearances. Because ever since this movie came along, they became apart of the whole Transformers mythology. And well, for me it just makes no sense for them to be overshadowed by their predecesors when considering that they are now just as important to the franchise as much as the ones who came before them.

It's to my understanding that the majority of fans disliked the characters who were introduced in this movie. Personally I find that arguable. Because most of the times the classic characters from the first two seasons of G1 have appeared in numerous spin-offs including the new movies. And a lot of the faces that were introduced in this movie have made very few appearances whatsoever. And even when they did, they were given such small insignificant roles.

Prime also said an autobot would rise from its ranks and use the matrix to light their darkest hour. Yes Hot Rode may have been immature but by the time he had the matrix he had matured into more of a leader than his childish days. The only problem he had was living up to Prime's mark which a true leader would never do. Other than that, I think, he was a good leader for the autobots at the time.

Hot Rod indirectly took part in Optimus Prime's death. Hot Rod was young and impulsive, but he became a leader in the end.

Ultra Magnus got torn apart, it was obvious then that the Matrix is not his, the Matrix chose Hot Rod, which is why he was able to open it and become Rodimus Prime.

Oh, and did I mention that Judd Nelson has voiced Rodimus in his Animated incarnation? Well, he has. And he does not sound the same as before. But that's to be expected since its been years since the original movie came along and that Nelson was a lot younger back then. Despite that however, Judd Nelson has not lost my respect for he was the best voice for Rodimus back in the day. And I cherrish those memories no matter how far time passes.

I've been a fan of Hotrod/Rodimus Prime since the beginning. And I have to say, the classic TF movie pretty much marks the only time when he had timw in the spotlight as a special character. But nowadays, he is not considered special nor important. In fact, I saw for myself that he was given a small and minor roll in TF animated, which I despise and ignore most of the times. Even in this time and age when technology is becoming so advanced, there's no justice for Rodimus Prime. *sigh*

Sorry about that. I guess I used the wrong word. What I meant is that Rodimus Prime only had enough time in the spot light during the premere of the original TF movie. But today he is but a mere shadow of his former self because Optimus gets all the attention and glory. But who am I to judge on that? Optimus Prime has always been the number 1 autobot leader and I respect that. But it'd be nice if they could at least shed a little light on Rodimus every once in a while.

What do you think about the Henkei / Classic Hot Rod (Rodimus) and the Titanium Rodimus Prime toys? I mean he looks younger, sexier and cooler in his sport car mode compare to this movie and when he turns to Rodimus Prime, his trailer becomes part of his body (unlike the G1); which is not only increase his size but also give him more dignity as a leader character. They are still similar in appearances but definitively much cooler compare to their original G1 designs.

i dont know bout the original script but as hasbro owned almost all the rights to the film toys etc, primes death was the same as the leader in th gi joe film, and later famously dubbed to come out of a coma and not pass away, so when the reaction was so shocking to the new toys eg no one bought em it and failed due to a bad marketing campaign they revealed magnus to be the leader when hes wasnt etc, but the gi joe thing was why prime died and ultimatly ressurected, but thats my knowledge

Optimus may have been a better, stronger leader, but Rodimus was a better character. Optimus had no inner struggle, no faults, he was John Wayne in a tin suit and everyone knows it. Rodimus had an actual character arc as he matured and grappled with a job he didn't ask for or want. However, Optimus is a powerful symbol of goodness and courage so they both have merit. They are different leaders and I love them both. Isn't that okay?

In the end the writers felt it would be a more connective irony if Hot Rod was there. In the end Hot Rod is the chosen one, the matrix glowed when he held it prior to Ultra Magnus and it triggered the transformation into Rodimus Prime also. In the Marvel USA and UK comic Transformers continuity, the hinting that Hot Rod is the chosen one is more obvious in the design of the God of Transformers, Primus.

In the original script for Transformers the Movie, Hot Rod didn't get in the way and thus even without Megatron using him as a shield, he would still get the gun and nail Optimus. Marvel comics back in 1986 did their movie comic adaptation based on the original script and you see what WOULD have happened either way.

Interesting things to see here... Galvatron tries to choke Hot Rod (didn't know the Transformers could die form shortness of breath :P), at least Rodimus uses the finger holes in the Matrix (Ultra Magnus didn't :P), and irony of ironies, the bot that kills Prime becomes the leader (Prime has Megatron completely beaten and Hot Rod decided to intervene)... Anyways, all hail The Transformers! Can't wait for the real-live movie! ;)
