when i was 10, I ran 5 miles from my house to catch up to my mom when I saw her leaving the house. I was crying the whole time while running. good thing she stop by to get gas and food from a local store. at first she was shocked and then she cried she was happy to see that I was okay. as I got closer, she slapped me in the face and pulled me by my ear and told me to get in the car. I had ice cream after..it was fun!

That tells me that something is going on in his little world that needs prompt attention. In fact, it's 'normal' for a person to 'act out' in ways like this when they're being neglected or worse. Ask me how I know. I've experienced and seen more than my share of parental neglect and traumatized kids.
