I was born and raised in Winston-Salem, we saw the mountain from many viewpoints from the city, We live in Va now and miss home, but we see it and the rest of W-S when we come home each year for the Dixie Classic Fair.Always a welcome sight.

Pilot Mountain is my new home. I love it here...........nothing like it! Totally inspirational. Thanks for sharing this beautiful mountain with the world!
I live about 20-30 min south of Pilot Mountain! I love it...my husband and I go hiking up there every spring and fall. Gorgeous views and so peaceful...I'm so glad I moved away from the flat ol' Midwest!
I was there today! It was cold, but pleasant. There was lots of ice from last week's snowfall. My wife was afraid of slipping the whole time, but we were all OK. Tomorrow it's going to be Hanging Rock!
Elkin, N. C. is my hometown. I live in Florida now and one of the things I miss the most is being able to see Pilot Mountain. I worked in home care and I've seen that mountain from every side.
i lived in pinnacle for 10 years or so. less than a mile off the hwy 52 exit on your clip. i would get a foothill/scenic overlook type view everytime i left my house.
@joem3030 Lived in sight of mountain all of my life. Whenever returning from trips, when I see the "Knob" I know I am almost home. Fantastic Fall colors, trees and rocks sparkling when covered in ice, hiding in low lying clouds, or lit up by clashes of lighting, the mountain is my beacon. edsayshey

Hey! I take this road home everyday! I've go the view and every bump memeorized! It's really cool when there are could clinging to the top and you can't see it.
I used to drive by Pilot Mountain on my way home to Ohio when I was stationed in Fayetteville, NC. It was such a mystical mountain and I still have numerous pics of it.
Yep, I've driven up several times up that winding road, haha!! It's a beautiful view. My fiancee didn't like it to well on a visit to NC one time (afraid of heights). I love the view, especially looking over towards Winston Salem. I've seen quite a few eagles that way.
I've been past there so many times! We've stopped at the rest/scenic view stop there tons of times. Taken a couple picturs from there too! Pretty looking mountain, yet for some reason it just looks odd lol.
I always look forward to passing Pilot Mountain on our drives from Pittsburgh to or from Myrtle Beach!! Nice video.

You are right, it does look odd. You should actually take the time to go up the mountain. There are some wonderful views from up there.
