This has probably been raised before but...maybe the Man has no idea what he is or is not. We've been going back and forth about "is he God?", "is he the Devil", "is he neither"...I think it's a lot more simple than that.
I think one day the Man in the Booth sat down in another booth at another restaurant or diner and had coffee with another man and asked for something and what we're seeing now is either what he asked for or what he has to do to get what he wants.
This show proves you don't need flashy special effects, expensive actors or complicated set locations to make a series. This series is riveting - I love it and I hope it continues. I think people love mystery more than empty stimulation.
If you watch all the episodes you begin to see some of them are linked, not just the protector and the guy who wants to kill the girl but with a few other people.

I agree with you. It's definitely not a "Needful Things" knock off. It's more like "Persons Unknown."
It's has a locale. People have tasks. The people seem not to be in control of their destiny.
It's not "Needful Things," nor is it "Something Wicked This Way Comes."
It may have parables, and allegory, and sure you can make some religious connection if you try real hard....but this doesn't have a Stephen King feel to it, in so far as the writing aspect of this is concerned..
