Just started using the original ROM in the zsnes emulator in Ubuntu.
I literally cried when I finally loaded it up and memories from the days when I was just learning how to read flashed right before my eyes....
I never thought I would find this ever again because I forgot the title. This and Super Battleship are serious overdoses of nostalgia for me. Oh, and Donkey Kong Country as well ;D
@wilmcmillan Yeah those gold pads, (sometimes just silver looking) are the contacts that touch the systems internal pins and basically make the game cartridge part of the system itself as it runs, that's how games worked.
Blowing works because small amounts of spit helps make connections to the contacts and at the cost of advancing the deterioration/rusting by adding water to the tabs they will work temporarily. Proper way is with at least 91 isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and cotton swabs.
@wilmcmillan If you properly clean the contacts all games will work perfectly without needing to blow on them. I can't say I've ever seen the need to blow on any of my SNES games, NES yes, but once those are cleaned they should be good for a long time. :)
@GenralosityXL I also have the 3DS version but there will always be a place in my memories for the original (my 3rd SNES cart, no less). A bit unfair to compare something from 1990 to something from 2011. The Nintendo 64 version is still the one that offers more variety, tough.
@GenralosityXL Heh, I played Pilotwings Resort once, and I have to say it reminded me more of Pilotwings 64, than it did the SNES version. Have to say I still prefer the original 2 games, over Resort. (though Resort isn't terrible) Nintendo blew it by not making a Pilotwings for either the GameCube or Wii, plus actually adding a lot of features(a la the jump from Pilotwings to Pilotwings 64) to make it truly memorable and fun. Maybe one day, Nintendo will make a new Pilotwings game for Wii U.
ONE of the best games I've ever played, when i first saw this it was BAAAAM what the heck this graphics were just great t the time!!!!!!! I played the hell out of this game!
Still my favorite flight simulator of all time. The graphics, gameplay, music...it's got it all. And it's only gotten better and better over the years.
agreed. snes has much better games than all 360 / PS3 etc games combined. Pilot Wings SNES for instance rocks sooo much. Bravo to Nintendo, they're the best! =)
I wish Nintendo would put Pilotwings and Pilotwings64 on the Wii virtual console for download. I bet PW64 will not be put on the Wii because of the Twin Towers in New York part of the game.
Yeah Man! I absolutely LOVED both versions of PilotWings. Most of the time that I played those games, I just wanted to fly around. Not really worrying about completing any objectives or missions, but to just fly around. The Pilotwings series was one of the few games that always seemed like a new game even after completing them. I, too am waiting, and hoping that Nintendo will put the two games on the Virtual Console. Pilotwings has a large fan base, and it would be a good move on Ninendo's part.
OMG! Thanks for the memories! I used to play this game when I was a kid until I turned blue. Everything brings back memories: The sounds, the music, even the instructors! Please post more!
Use to hate the rocketblet level. I always ended up in the water and pissed off Shirley.

@wilmcmillan Some alcohol and a a earcotton will do the trick quite niecely. Just make sure to let it evaporate before pluging them back into a SNES.
