If you want this released properly on DVD then please sign my petition at go petition dot com you can find it if you google release steven spielberg's something evil on dvd.
Look, people: You should be GLAD this film's unavailable on DVD; That's WHY it seems so great to you! Stuff that scared the shit outta you when you were a kid is almost inevitably a huge letdown when rediscovered as an adult-That's just the way it is!
This movie and "Salem's Lot" go down as the two scariest "made for TV' movies, EVER... I too was freaked out by the red eyes in the window and the scene in the "haunted house". This was GENIUS film making, and it introduced Spielberg as a major talent. I WISH they'd release this on DVD... It's brilliant.
Wow I can't believe I found this!!! This sure reminds me of how freaked out was. I remember the pentagram, and the when the camera recorded the red eyes, the wind or something. A small gem of a movie, if anyone knows where to get a copy, please tell. Even though I only saw it once, it left me wanting to see it again, over twenty years later.
I saw this movie when I was a kid... it FREAKED ME OUT!!! I remember the pentacle under the bed and they all ran into it for safety and that glowing goop in the jar... and Jody from "Family Affair" was the kid (Johnny Whittaker)... i'd love to see this movie again..
Another one that I didn't know belonged to Spielberg! I remember this quite clearly from it's original airing...the eyes glowing in the window, the jar of red glop that "breathes," the boy telling his mother to "be damned!" Great stuff!
I only saw this movie ONCE on TV when I was a kid (I'm 37 now) and all I remember is a jar in a shed (or garage) that "screamed" or something when this kid saw it. All I know is, I WANT TO SEE THIS EFFING MOVIE AGAIN!
Whats the music over this trailer...sounds like Goldsmith

Do you have a copy of the film. I've been looking for years to find one. I mean, it's a spielberg film for god's sake.
