  • I love this jew, aha

  • I'm going to need to borrow this for something, Walter. I'll give your photographs back to you in three days, along with your share of the profits.

  • walter block for president 2012!

  • 7:26 hilarious, he really looked scared for a moment. Gotta love Walter "Moderate" Block

  • The rent is too damn high!

  • few months and 0 dislikes still - cool :-)

But 2011 views and only 78 likes??? - come on people!

  • I have to say, I almost get dissapointed when I see an Austrian not wearing a bow tie.

  • 7:20, hahaha

  • He is not a "brilliant" economist. He has done nothing to support Austrian economics in academia nor has he turned out any research that's worth reading.

  • @successfulbuild why do you watch mises institute videos just to talk crap? that's pathetic. intentionally looking up something just to argue with someone. if you disagree just don't watch or read the material.

  • The government protection of private property is the first "intervention" into the economy. Also, this guy is a lunatic. Having a bunch of private dictators controlling everything in society would be worse than hell. Then you're at the discrepancy of private land owners who over time did not even earn the land they're on by hard ward (i.e. like the Walton family) and when they couldn't agree you'd have inefficient pathways - which would be another market failure.

  • @successfulbuild You have a lot of unlearning to do. You have been taught lots of lies and are using them to make innaccurate presdictions. Scandanavian society pre-christianity was almost free market capitalism, and they were very successful traders as well as being successful militarily.

  • @Hashishin13 Yes, I know right-wing morons like you believe that people have been "taught lies" and need to be "reeducated" by the crackpots here at the MisesInstitue, the same way creationists believe that the school system teaches "lots of lies" about the "creation of man" and the same way 9-11 truthers believe that structural engineering teaches "a lot of lies" about how the buildings came down.

  • @successfulbuild. People are taught lies in public education. You must be an angry left winger. With No respect to the constitution or freedom at all. No respect for anything. A disgrace to america. The left wing education system how we should become dependent on the government for everything. They teach lies about FDR fixing the depression, yeah right. The depression was caused by an artificial credit boom which led to a bust.

  • @Hashishin13 Walter Block is a crackpot economist (of the Austrian school, which has almost completely died out in academia) who believes that everything should be controlled by a handful of land owners. He's a revisionist historian who denies Christian genocides as well, claiming that Christianity had more "peaceful times" which as I've proven is mathematically impossible. He claims that Christian dictatorships were more peaceful than democratic countries.

  • @successfulbuild "who believes that everything should be controlled by a handful of land owners."

He has never once said, implied or even hinted at this in any of the dozens of hours of lectures that are online, so you are most likely pulling that directly from your ass.

"He claims that Christian dictatorships were more peaceful than democratic countries. "

    Evidence please?

    "He's a revisionist historian"

Wow oh no! He is questioning the Official Truth, GET HIM!

  • @successfulbuild Block is an atheist.

  • @Hashishin13 Walter Block, being a fascist idiot, also distorts the history of classical liberalism to his purposes and doesn't even know that libertarian originally referred to a version of Marxism. Block also believes that if units are different, they cannot be divided. He needs to take a course in basic trigonometry. He threatened somebody at a dinner party once when he got corrected on his bat shit economics as well. That's the type of personality you Mises Institute idiots have.

  • @Hashishin13 If Walter Block and Hoppe believe that monarchies and landed tyrannies are more efficient, maybe they should look into the private companies that killed 12 million people in the Congo. There's even a documentary about it. Or maybe they should look into the fact that corporations slaughtered people even here in America such as mowing down innocent women and children. Block says that if anybody is on your property and you didn't invite them, you can kill them.

  • @successfulbuild "Block says that if anybody is on your property and you didn't invite them, you can kill them. "

Try lying less, it would help your credibility.

What are you talking about private companies in America mowing down women and children, sounds more like the government did it. If your talking about the natves, well there was a racist culture back then that is indefensible and also all the killing of the Indians was done with the explicit aproval of the government.

  • @Hashishin13 There has never been a time in history where free-markets have worked. In Ireland, they lasted as a communal society for hundreds of years but when they implemented property along the lines of the market order it degenerated into a society of five-families controlling all the wealth - inherently unstable, which obviously collapsed. There has never been a time where it has worked. Show me research from a historian (not a crackpot economist) where anarcho-tyranny (capitalism) worked

  • @successfulbuild Your idiotic assertion is that statism "works".

  • Is there any way you can post a separate link with the pictures of the bomb damage/rent control? I'd love to give that quiz to a few of my statist friends.

  • great lecture!

whats the name of the book he took the "bombing vs rent control" pictures from?

  • @sdcair I forget but he wrote it.

  • Fantastic! I love this channel!

  • He's really good.

  • Such a great speech.

I read Block's Defending the Undefendable and will definitely look into his other books now.

  • I have a tendency (as a chemistry major, with a purely recreational interest in economics) to close the window after about 30-45 mins...

But Block is well and truly gripping, even to an outsider.

    Bravo!

  • The part about BP Oil Spill deserves its own separate video!

  • I think Block is my favourite... him and Hoppe.

  • He doesn't seem to like us Swedes. I suppose it is for dramatic effect, but then, is the rest just for effect as well? Why spend an hour listening to it? Family Guy is on TV.

  • @Zander242 Sweden is just notorious for its socialism and is stereotyped that way, I wouldn't read more into it.

  • @NietzscheanMan

You should have grown up in 80´s sweden man, it wasn´t a stereotype back then it was the way things "worked".

Conditioner for hair had a luxury tax, inflation was 26% if you gave a gfift to someone the state took 33%.

I wasn´t old enought back then but where i work now you earned more money if you where sick a few day´s each month instead of worked. There where two TV channels which where state run and there where taxes on buisness to enable unions to buy and run companies.

  • Walter Block is not only a brilliant economist, he is also the world's most underrated comedian!! He truly is brave for speaking such a politically incorrect truth.

  • Been waiting for a new video of Walter Block for a long time. Great to see him speak again, he's awesome.

  • till he got to the BP stuff i could have sworn i have seen this before, thanks as always misesmedia/mises.org

  • Walter looks like he slept in his suit.

  • @pretorious700 He's so adorable.

  • @pretorious700 lol, when you work at the Mises Institute you always have to be ready to spring into action - sleeping in suits with one eye open.

  • @pretorious700 Someone should have intervened by ironing his shirt.

  • @pretorious700

Maybe he enjoys sleeping in suits?

  • @pretorious700 He sleeps in his suit

  • @pretorious700

He doesn't sleep in his suit as much as he doesn't sleep. So yes, he is in his suit 24/7, but not because he sleeps in his suit.

  • !!! Walter Block FTMFW !!!
