I suppose my gripe is mostly with people who use this effect to simulate a "real" sighting. And I suppose it also makes sense to be more suspect of footage that is crystal clear. Oh my gosh people. It's a frickin balloon. You know, one of those square tinfoily looking ones. The reason it looks like it's changing shape is because it's rotating as it floats away. Pause the video at about 40 secs and then slowly move playline thingy forward and you can see it clearly.

@Bingstock The main problem is that there have been several cases where these have been hoaxes proven to be mylar balloons. The people in these areas are highly superstitious and easily excitable.

I am not saying there are not legitimate sightings, but I lean heavily on the skeptical side of all sightings until such things can be independently verified.

Leaping to unfounded conclusions only erodes whatever legitimacy the UFO phenomena has gained and fuels the debunkers.
