for two religions that hate each other so much they certainly have a lot in common. as for the two witness rule for jw's I am sure every guy that mollests or rapes a child has someone watch.
The founder, CHARLES TAZE RUSSELL, had no witnesses when he was molesting his "Foster Child" back in the 1800's. However, his wife, Frances Ackley, knew. She and Charles openly admitted that they had a celibate marriage. This poor ten year old little girl, by the way honoring her is not too soon, ROSE BALL. When it all came to light the founder of Jehovah's Witnesses kicked her out of his home. EXAMPLE FOR ALL AT KINGDOM HALL. THE VICTIM had no voice or chance at all. Children are scared.
to thethecrats...the problem is if the victim goes to the police without another witness, they are disfellowshipped for slander because without the 2nd witness the organizations views the accused as innocent and therefore he victim is speaking lies against them if they go to the police.
As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, I can tell you that often times, the matter is not handled right by the victim. If a person makes the claim that someone in the congregation has molested them, the secular authorities should be notified immediately so the matter can be handled accordingly. The local elders cannot make any accusations or claims without either 2 eyewitnesses, or significant proof.
Hmmm...yes...that sounds good. It makes sense that the elders should hear about it before the authorities....or not!!!!!! I can't believe you'd be that naive to think that the elders(secular authorites) would have a sugnificant effect on any of this!!!! They are not the law....the law is the law..you should be ashamed of yourself!!! There's a huge wod of wool over your eyes...make a sweater!!!!!
The only way it needs to be handled is by having the victim contact the police, and not the spineless elders at your congregations. The WTS is worse than the Catholic church in this regard because it claims to be the ONLY true Christian faith. These child abuse cases prove otherwise? Think I'm wrong, then tell me why the WTS is selling nearly all of their Brooklyn buildings to SETTLE the lawsuits. If the WTS has clean hands, WHY SETTLE?!
In the Jehovah's Witness religion, policy stated that in order to accuse someone of a sin you must have two or more witnesses to the crime. Since there are never any witnesses in molestation offenses, the victims were not viewed by the church hierarchy as credible. As a result, the molester gets away with his crime and the victims had no recourse since they were forbade by the religion to report the molestation to authorities. The rule ended up protecting offenders instead of punishing them.
