I was the opposite,unmotivated and quiet I would look out the window meditating on the trees (always finished my work first),I was said to be antisocial and a "daydreamer", told I had to learn to participate more in class discussions,I loved the (supposed) ADD kids as they would stand up for me and say she just doesn't want to talk hands in the air "pick me" I loved their energy. They should not have to change, forced change does not work, people eventually react badly to bad reactions.

my child is hyper active and i don't think that its wrong but the school does the way he thinks and acts he wrote a story about rape and murder and they called a soial worker and now i have to go to court i think children 13 teen say stupid things

When I was a child, they called it high-strung and spirited, and these children were valued! (smile) I know because I was one of those children and have always been high-strung, and so are all my children and grandchildren. My oldest son's third grade teacher called me to school and suggested "we" should have my son tested and "we" should maybe put him on drugs. Needless to say, she was in tears when I left that meeting, and we never had another. (grin)

I understand that there are misdiagnoses and kids are getting drugged for no reason. Some kids just eat sugar cereal and pop tarts for breakfast and cant pay attention at school. But I am 26 and I need medication. When I take addarall I calm down and stop moving around so much. Sometimes it is the only way. If TRUE ADHD isnt handled in time, friendships, jobs and relationships will be affected. I only wish that I would have had drugs sooner.

Long terms studies now show that ADHD drugs are no longer effective after a three year trial. The people taking the medications develop tolerance and addiction to the drugs but no longer see an increase in performance.

You probably do need the drug because your body is addicted to it and without taking it, you will being to experience withdrawal symptoms like agitations, lack of concentration, fatigue, etc. The only way to calm down will be to the drug you are withdrawing from.

this is interesting. I always shook my head when I heard about people sedating kids who are "too wild" and don't behave. how sick is this?

I mean, isn't it rather something to be happy about, having a kid that is as full of energy and raves around as, say, young apes :-) Well yeah, compared to those hordes of badly nutritioned, lethargic kids we have nowadays, maybe those kids are really "hyper active"...

Thanks for the video. Your videos are very enlightening. My little lad was diagnosed ADHD. I went for a meeting with 2 doctors armed with a million questions after reading a pro-drug the kid, book and more on the internet. They couldnt answer many of the q's. Everyone i know would pass that 6 from 9 test. Its a joke. More money for the drug companies. I blame the parents mostly. (ironic i know but i do have an ex)

There are real central nervous system/brain disorders which neurologists address such as MS, Huntington's disease, strokes, brain tumors, etc. Most "mental Illness" are psychological problems w/ out any physiological bases. That's why there are no biological markers for psychiatric disorders.

Infact my therapist at age 11 told me the whole rest the world can't be wrong. I told him they used to think the world was flat and that I was right. One of the lingering problems with traditional ADHD treatment is overmedication, which suppresses the symptoms but dulls the mind. Continuous Performance Tests (CPTs) can be used to find the minimal dose to attain normal attention but retaining normal acuity.

wow, lol; I should have been diagnosed with ADHD... I climbed everything, but I played sports to get rid of most of my energy... It's amazing how broad the diagnoses is... I'm glad my parents never did anything about it, I would be a completely different person if I were drugged all the time... It's amazing, I've never really liked the concept of ADD or ADHD..

It seems almost as if the entire diagnosis and treatment process for ADHD is part of an indoctrination process to create complicit children... children that fit into a mold... we're creating citizens that fit into the way the world is, not stimulating, encouraging children to be creative to create a different, better world...
