When I was a kid musician, one of the 'struggling actor" co-stars of a TV shoot I was at befriended me, and asked me what my "thing" was. I'd told him I was a musician, and his eyes lit-up, & he whispered, saying, "Me too! I play in a jazz band three nights a week! But never tell anyone in the TV biz you're a musician! You'll never work as an actor again!" So don't be petty, my ♪ brothers! Many actors find us a threat, as we do them. I'm guessing Tim was a player well before he fell into acting.
@laaxe Oh, and if you haven't learned it yet, they (the world) can't live without us, BUT they can live without most of us. And if you're struggling, and don't like struggling, you probably should have picked-up a good govt. job. Tim didn't do that, & for that, I call him one of us. So stop telling someone who feels the same love for music, & the same love for the sung story we do, that he's taking food from your kid's mouths, as he (not exactly a Brad Pitt), has done more for the needy than I!
@laaxe BTW - Here's one of our own (the late Andrew Gold) "acting", and jeopardizing the careers of starving actors in the recent movie, THE GOD COMPLEX FINAL TRAILER HD , on YouTube! (the guy in black & red around 2:50.) And remember, if your message/story isn't any better than the couple hundred million who preceeded you, you're not deserving!
I chose to review this clip. Because, Tim and the Rogues are scheduled at the seventeenth "Bluesfest International" in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Just across the river to the south of Detroit, Michigan. Really I was impressed by the passion he had. So, onJuly 15 it should be a great show.
there are always studio musicians that are more talented than the people who are on stage. Man, I say if you have the opportunity....take it! If everyone waited around and did nothing, because they thought they'd be "taking someone else's spot" ....that may be more talented than them, it would be a waste... no one would follow their dream.
I have always loved Tim Robbins and admired his honest and thoughtful stances on so many issues. I was very sorry to see the split between he and his long-term partner Susan Sarandon, and am disappointed to see this turn of events. If this is a "mid-life crisis" as he states, I hope that things work out. Quickly. He's a much better actor than he is a singer.
@psychoSemantical So much of music now is image and having the right contacts. I personally know people who blow this guy out of the water in terms of musical ability, writing etc but 1) they ain't good looking 2) they don't have money behind them 3) they don't live in a major musical hub 4) they don't have a name or know the right people. Look ere on ytube for 20 mins and you'll find Robbins' superior in talent 10x. I stand by my words. He's a pro actor, not a pro musician.
Billy Bob Thorton, Kevin Costner and now Tim Robbins. These guys aren’t awful players or anything, but if they weren’t famous actors they would not be selling a single album or concert ticket. Make room on the stage for the real career musicians guys – your hobby is holding people back.
@jd1655 : You are pointing out the FACTS, not "hating" at all. There is a huge difference between famous actors turned "musicians" and REAL CAREER MUSICIANS. No ticket sales for this famous actors except for a chance to see them up close. That's why we don't hear about them after their initial "debut." It's sad that these actors have people saying "yes, I hear an album here and I have just the...." What a bunch of money-grubbing ^&^$%# for giving such bad advice.
@ejvideos07 Ah, yet another anti-American ignoramus ready to blame The U.S. for everything. Guess what, genius, this isn't the case with the very generous Tim Robbins. Blind idiots, such as yourself, throughout the world fail to realise that people are people and greed exists in every corner of the globe. Unfortunately, America has always been under the microscope, heavily scrutinized by hypocrites.
My husband and I saw Tim and the band last night in Ann Arbor and it was fantastic!

If only FAMOUS people would help out struggling musicians, that would give those famous people some real legitimate STREET CRED.

Gotta love how haters gonna hate...
Why are there those that complain how people are successful because they are famous?
I always thought people were famous because they were successful.
"Make room for the career musicians..." Maybe the career musicians should get better?

@ejvideos07 pfft, wrong target. Tim Robbins has done a huge amount for many causes over the years. He's not driven by greed.
