  • @svtlincoln The proper tools were $150 when I made the video in 2009 -- these engines were more exotic back then... tools may be cheaper now.

  • nice job scoring the cam lobe

  • he scratched the cam @50

  • Try this when it's in the vehicle. WTF?

  • @600joe LOL it is a lil more difficult when it's in the car. I don't know why he thinks the proper tool for the job is $150 when you can buy them all day long for $40.

  • @svtlincoln I actually did them all in a 4.6l F150. I found that using a 1 inch wide snap on gasket scraper with square shaft is best.

  • Do u do crack? U shake like crazy and ur talking super fast

  • I would recommend applying tape to the screwdriver so you dont scratch the cam. Hardened? yes. but you can scratch them. I promise.

  • hello, I am doing this on a 4.6L SOHC. My book didnt say anything about setting the keyway. Do I need to do that on my SOHC or is that just for the DOHC? Why would they omit something that important? By the way, the few parts of my hands that dont have cuts on them thanks you. All the book says is position the camshaft so the cam follower is on the base of each camshaft lobe. Nothing else. Could use some help :(

  • would this work on the new 3v 4.6? Look like they have the same type/similar rocker arm..

  • Roller cams are made from hardened steel. Its not easy to scratch them.

  • Funy, I wish when I was looking for videos on how to remove rocker arms and lash adjusters (they're not called lifters) when I had a couple of lash adjusters go bad. Tried doing it myself but eventually gave up and paid 500 dollars for someone else to do it

  • awesome tip for us noobs to mod motors!

  • Eeerrhh.... Shouldn't you be, maybe putting a rag or something between the screw driver and the cam?

  • Looks like you were about to start damaging the cam lobe.

  • i did it like that too... easy

  • Thanks. This will be big help, going to change my valve springs to high load here soon and woundering how to remove rocker arms as this is the first time I am doing it my self.

  • i did it this way and it works!
