I agree with him 100%!!!!! And BTW it's a Proven Fact what he said.. About the inner city's Good citizens not being able to have Guns. Just Look at DC, 30 years of No Guns and the Murder Rate went Up 65%. Then there Gun Rights were Given Back and the Rate went Down 70%SO MUCH FOR DC GUN CONTROL!!
He makes too much sense, unfortunately he'll probably never get voted in? Capital Hill and Congress doesn't want people who make sense and can think on their own. Thats why we have the douchebag thats in the white house now. A community disorganizer that never ran anything, i'm sure just like most of the ignorant people that voted him into office, never had a job, never intended to get a job and have no experience in anything. What color are the clouds in your world?
@Farelon123 more cars kill people each year than guns. So I guess we shouldn't own a car because so many people will be saved and our country will be safer. Get a grip!!!
I think he has bad reasoning for supporting the 2nd Amendment. Citizens protecting themselves from a imminent threat by a foreign government i.e the British 320 years ago, is one thing. Saying you need to arm yourself like it's WW2 now, is instigating paranoia. People who think it's a right for people to bear arms, at any given moment, are basicly saying their Beretta or FAMAS is worth 11000 gun-homicides a year. Which is a completely retarded position to hold.
@Faerlon123 More people die from car homicides than ones with guns! You're far more likely to get struck by lighting than be a victim of a mass shooting! People own firearms in the hope that the threat of lethal defense will deter something like that from ever happening! Condoms and guns have the same policy, "Rather have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it!"
@Faerlon123 Stupid people driving cars, they don't know it kills 40,000 people a year. They should ban them all together. By the way there is more guns than cars in America, so don't give me that There is more cars than guns B.S.
I agree with Paul here, one of the few times I do. If he were running for "guy in charge of protecting the 2nd Amendment" I'd vote for him in a second.
The politicians who want to control guns are the ones who should be shot for treason. The Constitutional 2nd amendment gives every American a license to own a gun. This right shall not be infringed. The politicians are violating the peoples right. This is being done to take away the peoples power to oust corrupt politicians in government.
@Tr0llinator Think people would notice 10 terrorist? That's kinda like sniping with Black powder, just saying hey look me! one or two guys are hard to notice!
Multiple plans got hijacked remember? Also if everybody was able to bring guns onto a plan then think of the confusion. The pilots can have guns but not the passengers.
@Tr0llinator but it wasn't ten guys going after one plane it was one or two guys per plane! Hardly a threat for a plane full of people with guns! besides if one guy with with a gun, started something crazy, in a room full of good, most of those are good people, more people with guns means more good people with guns!
I dont think you understand that if everyone were allowed to bring guns onto a plane then it will make it easier for terrorist to hijack a plane because . They would work as a team. Also there were 19 hijacker in 9/11 that means they worked in groups of about 4 or 5 not 1 or 2. Finally think of the mass confusion if everyone were allowed to bring guns on a plane because everyone is pulling out guns ready to shoot. It is better if the pilots have guns only.
It depends. If there is a shoot and then plane goes down into a crowed area then I say it is not better. Do you really think it is a good idea if "citizens" (people other than pilots) are allowed to bring guns on a plane
@Tr0llinator Again your first point was that do i think it is a good idea for citizens to have guns. The answer is yes i do. second terrorist go for soft targets more than they do hard ones. so your odds go up just by the idea of everyone being armed. Third the chance of being killed by a terrorist is pretty remote, even though they make seem like al-ciada is around every corner. Strange how every "attack" that has been stopped is always about how an agency gave them the means.
Adam Kokesh has maliciously violated my civil rights of the 1st Amendment for just exercising my freedom of speech rights cause he does not want to be exposed being all for just the money and not about freedom as intended by our four fathers of The United States of America. Is this on what Ron Paul is for?
@flamedrag18 He is the only honest candidate I've ever heard. He speaks more reason than any of them I've ever known too. What a crazy idea, a truthful politician!
If we have a catastrophy in this country and go off the grid for a few days, weeks,or months, people against guns would change their minds about law abiding gun owners.Man is wicked in a time of desperation & will not think twice about harming you & your family to take what you have. The government will not be there for you when stretched thin by a multiple state catastophy.Just look at New orleans during Katrina. That was just one city.Good luck shopping inside a looted grocery store.
I don't live in the home of the brave to feel safe and secure. I do so to experience total freedom which includes the infinitesimal chance of being killed by a gun. This is a country for the fearless that is currently being forced to change by fearful people who want to exchange those freedoms for safety. I suggest they move to a safer country if they are so fearful.
So, if Mr. Paul seems so supportive of 2nd Amendment Rights, why did he "abstain" from voting with his party on the important H.R. 822, "National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act of 2011"?
@soferntn I do not KNOW this from Paul's own words BUT this would be consistent with Paul's view that the federal governement cannot mandate state laws. There are arguments even between gun-rights groups for fear that this could serve as a precedent for various other federal mandates regarding guns and all sorts of other issues which may be worse in the long-run. Paul is most definitely for free (non-criminal) gun use and carry but the way in which is is achieved is paramount importance.
Although HR 822 attempts to advance the natural right to bear arms, it does so at the expense of fundamental principles of federalism. Again, Ron Paul will never vote for something that requires the federal government to step in and decide for the people, no matter how great it may seem
It passed sometime in November, so he probably wasnt able to vote becuase he was campaigning.
What Dr. Paul said about the laws being discriminatory because of their bans on guns in inner cities was also mentioned in the Supreme Court ruling for the Chicago gun ban.: "The legislators noted that the number of Chicago homicide victims during the current
year equaled the number of American soldiers killed during that same period in Afghanistan and Iraq and that 80% of the Chicago victims were black"
@BarryBurtonfan 12-31-12: EMPEROR OBAMA SIGNS NATIONAL DEFENSE LAW TO: ARREST, DETAIN ~INDEFINITELY~ WITHOUT, PROBABLE CAUSE AND WITHOUT TRIAL US FREE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES. THIS IMPLEMENTS MARTIAN LAW AND MILITARY DRAFT! omg! PLEASE CONSIDER RON PAUL!!!
I really like Ron Paul, almost always agree with him. But to be honest, some of his supporters make me feel like I should hide that fact. I don't hide it...but sometimes I feel like I should.
I love Ron Paul, and it's sad that he won't be able to become President because he represents somebody who can actually get things done and isn't full of shit. The powers that be will never allow that to happen.
@goodolarchie Im sorry you have such a complacent attitude. I hope when u realize ur a slave like i did u get involved and see what freedom really is. I had that attitude at one time until i really looked at what he stands for and when you do that you will see ur a slave and freedom will come into view. The powers that be is you but you dont believe it yet but you will.
@goldsmithstudent It's not a matter of complacency. Even if he makes it into the office, he'd get assassinated like other men who were a threat to the status quo. I've been active in politics since I was about 14... but that doesn't change the state of affairs in our country since the cold war.
@goodolarchie Paul should have jettisoned the miserable Repub party long ago and run as an independant. His peaceful foreign policy is very attractive to many Repubs, indeps & Dems. He'd stand a chance at least. He also scares a lot of seniors when he says he like to get rid of Medicare&Social Security. Fact is, if we stopped blowing trillions on our war making we'd have enough $ to provide good health to all our citizens.
When I think of crime involving a handgun, I think of someone using an illegally acquired weapon. If you buy a firearm legally, you'll most likely use it legally.
I agree with most of his points but having a pilot carry a pistol sounds fucking retarded to me. A pistol in the cockpit would not have prevented 9/11 because the hijackers rushed the cockpit and killed the pilots too quickly for them to even react. That is what air marshals are for.
Could you picture any other candidate to have a definition of the 2nd amendment like this,....compare it to todays Cass Sunstien,..our regulatory czar
Classic Government speak. Ron Paul tells you something that you want to hear but lumps in his agenda as if its the same thing. He concedes on the 2nd amendment (weakly I might add) then sneaks in “Drugs” as if its the same right. Ron Paul is a manipulative GOV-CUNT and if you are a one-issue- anti-war lib-turd then Paul is your guy. If you weigh the whole of your constitution then he's the devil in the RED dress. BE SAFE VOTE MICHELE BACHMANN 2012!!!!
Notice that Ron Pauls concession on gun-laws includes drugs. Isn’t that freakin a shame? He clearly states his support of the 2nd amendment but he has to add “drug”. Why do you people think its ok for drugs to be legalized? Are you fucking kidding me or what? Another thing... Israel is our “GOOD” friend and ally in the middle East. Why do you Paul-Tards care so little for them? Why is it ok with you if Iran NIKES them? Are you Atheist and have no biblical responsibility? Just asking??
@GeorgeBonez You really think America needs to send nukes and kids to die for Israel because of the Bible? I've studied the Bible, I'm Christian. I believe in Jesus. No where does it condone pre-emptive strikes or tactical nukes. Only to God belongeth vengeance and recompence. What would Jesus do? Probably anoint Ron Paul as POTUS. You can't insist we are on the side of the angels and then insist we use the devils tools and tactics to win. Ron Paul 2012. Israel will be fine. They have nukes.
@WakingMajority What are you talking about? I dont think America should send NUKES to anyone. I dont think America should allow Iran to have nukes in light of their own words and promises to destroy Israel and it has nothing to do with the bible. I wouldnt want Iran to nuke Russia either. WHY do you think that its ok for us to sit back and allow Iran to get a nuke and kill thousands of people for nothing? Instead of attacking me religously maybe you should take another look at Ron Paul
@GeorgeBonez You have to look at things from the other guys perspective. American troops on either side of Iran. Iraq and libya have no nukes and what was their fate? We attacked and cause regime change.Pakastan has nukes. Michelle Bachmann in an earlier debate said we can't stop giving money to pakastan because they have nukes and they might fall into the wrong hands. If you were amadinejad what would be your goal? We need to change foriegn policy , not go to war
@GeorgeBonez Oh really? So it would have been okay for Russia to invade us in 1944 to stop us from nuking Japan? The west gave Gaddafhi all these incentives not to build nukes.... he complied. Then they killed him. When you are armed, people tend to take you much more seriously. If Iran has a nuclear weapon they won't use it. It would be suicide.
I have, and one of the main reasons I am voting for him is his views on Israel. Humility is a Christian virtue, admit that what we do effects others.
@railroadtrash09 Yeah but your Dr Paul is lumping Gun laws in with drug laws. Listen to his words again and you will see. You may be one that already knows his plan and you may support it. I how ever DO NOT. You cant say a couple of good things in order accomplish alot of bad things in my book. I CANNOT turn my back on Israel as Ron Paul will surely do by his own admission. Sorry I will be voting for the "Balanced Constitutional Conservative" Michele Bachmann ok..
@GeorgeBonez How is allowing Israel to be independent turning his back on Israel. Allowing them to control their own destiny is what you are against. If you want to be free to make your own choices in life you must allow that same opportunity for everyone. If not then you could live as a hypocrite. The word hypocrite is an offensive word but I have searched for a pleasant term and have found none. Also I am not calling you a hypocrite yet because I don't know. Maybe you don't want to be free.
@GeorgeBonez That is your opinion, and have every right to it. Unlike you though, I care nothing for Isreal as I have never been there and am against suffering Americans for another country. But the main reason is at a website called "us debt clock . org" I am however, 110% against illegal drugs. Like he says though, that is for the states to decide. Romney can't beat Obama and Gingrich and Bachmann are not even close says me...
@railroadtrash09 Yeah I know you dont care for Israel and in fact you MUST HATE them because to allow Iran to have a nuke will certainly cause thousands of Israeli deaths. I hear you when you say that you are against "illegal drugs". Is your answer to this the same as Ron Pauls and simply legalize them so that they are no longer illegal? Yeah I know. You people think you're slick but the fact is you are just sick....
@GeorgeBonez Isreal has more nukes than anyone over there, so I have no sympathy for them. I don't hate them as I don't hate any country, but they are big boys and can handle Iran quite easily. In fact, Isreal would strike first. You are concerened with the WRONG ISSUES... Certain states have already decided to regulate marajuana. "What do you mean you people"? I am a Veteran and if I'm sick it's because I have to deal with people like YOU! Try "us debt clock.org" and you will be sick!
From the United Press International web site, reporting on a “leak” of sensitive information:
“Sig Sauer has a contract to equip air marshals with .357 SIG caliber P250 Compact pistol, ABC [News] said.”
Does anyone think this caliber, a .40 S&W necked down to accept a 9MM (.355) bullet, is a weapon so powerful that a sky marshal might destroy the plane if he fires it?
QUICK !!! Everybody out there in youtbe land that is against the 2nd ammendment and wants all guns done away with put your money where your mouth is and put up a BIG sign in your front yeard that you don't believe in guns or the 2nd ammendment and you don't have ANY in your house. Do this especially if you live in a high crime area.
A well regulated militia, composed of the body of the People, being the best security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed, but no one religiously scrupulous of bearing arms, shall be compelled to render military service in person. - Article the Fifth, House of Representatives August 24 1789
So when the government takes guns away from law abiding citizens, that leaves the criminal population holding illegal guns. So the government is disarming a whole innocent population that now cannot defend itself.
@4everUSNavy I don't know what I did to get called a fuckhead...maybe you need to re-read my post. I think doing away with the IRS is a good thing, but it would cause a sudden burden on taxpayers...lots of people would be unemployed and asking for assistance. It wouldn't create jobs right away, but in the long run it would be better than what we have now.
@BarryBurtonfan I wasn't talking about the PILOTS you moron. Regardless, one single shot from a firearm on a plane can result in a hull breach, which would kill EVERYONE on board, and still cause it to crash.
Guns aren't allowed on planes for a reason. Some pilots do however carry a taser now to avoid a hijack situation.
@TheRealBarnez It depends on the caliber. I don't know about the newer commerical planes but most can't withstand the depressurization that wold take place if someone unloaded say a .45 but a .22 or possibly a bit higher would surely work, assuming of course you don't shoot a hole in the plane.
@TheRealBarnez Yes some bullets are safe on a plane. I don't assume you shoot so you may not be aware, however many ammuntion companies offer bullets that "spread out" or "open up" after being fired to heavily reduce its velocity before impact. These rounds are also usually, undercharged with less powder to prevent them from over-penetrating wooden walls. Unfortunatly people want to ban these rounds becuase they cause "unnessesary body damage"..
But thanks, that's actually something I didn't know. You were right, the closest I've come to shooting is Paintball. So yeah, thanks for that bit of info :D
Lets do a cost analysis of 9/11. If 3 planes carrying 200 people each get hijacked by radical (insert anything,) and each person on the plane had a gun, the worst case scenario would be that the an individual missed a terrorist, 100% of the the time, and each plane crashed (due to loss of cabin pressure.) Then one could stipulate that at least 600 people died, and perhaps a few more on the ground, and some property damage... Way better than 3k lost initially and over 5k military lost just think
@asleeperj Definitely agreed. Plus- loss of cabin pressure causing a fatal plane crash due to a bullet hole is a myth that has been debunked. It would make it critical for the pilots to make an emergency landing soon, because people would die due to lack of oxygen, but it would not cause a plane crash.
@azis1100 I was quoting Patrick Henry. Its a famous quote in one of his speech's during the revolutionary war. And sure as hell he wasnt asking politicians to give them liberty....
@BOogerpolo Just like my Native American Nation. They are about to round us up! And amongst a bunch of other human rights violations. They will force slave labor on us. Kidnap men delinquent in child support etc.. AND KIDNAP >YOU<
My best advice: Hit the streets with all kinds of well put flyers RECOMMENDING RON PAUL PRESIDENT 2012. People... Flyers are cheap. Do it.~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~
@eaglejohn323 Only asswholes and jackasses work fr the IRS they deserve they Job loss. Plus closing the IRS would Create Jobs fuckhead. all the IRS does is Bully people. Our founding fathers fought a war against people who do shit like this.
@RJWooller Lets not forget how Millions more will be created by him to and how the wars will end and less spending on stupid shit. if you dont like rion paul then move to a communist country because freedom is to good for you asswhols
we have not had a Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, or any other "great president" for a long time..decades, I think Ron Paul would be another one of them. He is the smartest person I have seen come around in my life time. He doesn't even talk about himself like he is a G-Man, he talks like he is us citizens.
I think most of you on here will Agree.what will destroy any group is fighting over who's right or wrong. We must fight for the cause. Which is our Freedom. we can bicker at each other, are we can pull together.and win.REMEBER THE SLOGON "UNITED WE STAND"!!!.Divided we fall.as long as we fight over some ones opinion we lose
Hum some need to go and look back in history. There have been many battles fought with small groups.against a larger opponent.look at some of the history of the native Americans.they fought off huge Army with just a bow and arrow.go all the way back to the1500 and study William Wallace with just a small band of warriorS he all most destroyed Europe. But he was betrayed by his own king.there have been many battles where one side was out numberd and out gund yet won.
@mogges1 mogges, buddy, I hope you're joking about William Wallace, because it was the late 1200's and he was fighting for the independence of Scotland from England, not the destruction of Europe.
'. . .the 2nd amendment doesn't say "small arms" it says "arms"'.
The 1 A. doesn't say “except speech that infringes on the rights of others”, it just says “freedom of speech”. The text doesn't limit what kind of speech; perjury, libel, etc. are not excluded.
If you can interpret “arms” in 2 A. without limit, then I can interpret “speech” in 1 A. without limit.
“. . . the line HAS to be set somewhere.”
The line you demand in 2 A. , and which you refuse to see, HAS been set.
People just need to take responsibility. We have a right to bear arms because say for instance someone comes on our property and tries to hurt u....u would want to defend yourself right? My dad has a concealed gun liscene. (spell check) If someone tried to attack u or tried to shoot u say while your in your car...you'd want to defend yourself right? Remember guns don't kill people....people kill people
the people I agree with and disagree with please consider this.Republicans have their trusted news sites and the Democrats have their trusted news sites. I watch both and it boils down on each side to discussion and opinion. When people demand proof and evidence it comes down to 'showing proof' only having it slapped down.. We have been divided and conquered folks.
@Beeman448 I want you to look for proof that gun control works, and then to look for it not working. there has never been an instance in the history of the world of a gun control measure that took guns out of the population that reduced crime in any way.
@LukasGoettke I am sure what you are asking? Did my first post give you the impression I'm pro gun control? I think if Germany in the 1930's had not disarmed the civilian populace, things may have been different. Imagine being a gestapo officer visiting a Jewish house and having to wonder and worry about getting shot in the face. BTW,I am unaware of which conceal/carry law you are referring to in your other post.
@Beeman448 in fact there is a city in georgia that to become a resident one must own a gun; in that case gun violence more than halfed, and texas saw a decrease in crime when it repealed its concealed carry law. (that only worked because about 50% of the population caried a gun.)
limit the right to keep and bear arms to militia purposes, but rather
limits the type of weapon to which the right applies to those used by
the militia, i.e., those in common use for lawful purposes.”
Unless you can establish that nukes are commonly found in possession of the people, and they use them for lawful purposes, you would not be able to justify your possession of such a weapon under 2 A.
@bwc3821 There is no practical need for nukes on a global level, and much less so on a national or local one. If you look at Ron Paul's stance on this it would essentially be, "No one, including ANY level of the government of ANY nation, should be allowed to own Nukes."
@mockingbird187 Well, one could argue there's no practical use for assault weapons on a local level either, but that's beside the point, as I said, doesn't the 2nd amendment make it legal for private citizens to own nukes? Ron Paul's beliefs don't change the text of the 2nd amendment.

Multiple plans got hijacked remember? Also if everybody was able to bring guns onto a plan then think of the confusion. The pilots can have guns but not the passengers.
Tr0llinator 1 week ago
@Tr0llinator but it wasn't ten guys going after one plane it was one or two guys per plane! Hardly a threat for a plane full of people with guns! besides if one guy with with a gun, started something crazy, in a room full of good, most of those are good people, more people with guns means more good people with guns!
rehwr 1 week ago
@rehwr
Tr0llinator 1 week ago
@Tr0llinator
So its better to have the twin towers down then a shootout in a plane?
Read about Todd Beamer, don't you wish he would have had a gun in flight 93?
ogarciaz14 1 week ago
@ogarciaz14
It depends. If there is a shoot and then plane goes down into a crowed area then I say it is not better. Do you really think it is a good idea if "citizens" (people other than pilots) are allowed to bring guns on a plane
Tr0llinator 1 week ago
@Tr0llinator if EVERYONE has a gun or you think they do you will be less likely to do anything stupid.

@carterrk
Not everyone is going to have a gun also terrorist dont care if they die
Tr0llinator 1 week ago
@Tr0llinator Again your first point was that do i think it is a good idea for citizens to have guns. The answer is yes i do. second terrorist go for soft targets more than they do hard ones. so your odds go up just by the idea of everyone being armed. Third the chance of being killed by a terrorist is pretty remote, even though they make seem like al-ciada is around every corner. Strange how every "attack" that has been stopped is always about how an agency gave them the means.

I don't live in the home of the brave to feel safe and secure. I do so to experience total freedom which includes the infinitesimal chance of being killed by a gun. This is a country for the fearless that is currently being forced to change by fearful people who want to exchange those freedoms for safety. I suggest they move to a safer country if they are so fearful.

soferntn 2 weeks ago
@soferntn If you actually understand what the bill said, you'll know your argument is invalid.
bonlu123 2 weeks ago
@soferntn I do not KNOW this from Paul's own words BUT this would be consistent with Paul's view that the federal governement cannot mandate state laws. There are arguments even between gun-rights groups for fear that this could serve as a precedent for various other federal mandates regarding guns and all sorts of other issues which may be worse in the long-run. Paul is most definitely for free (non-criminal) gun use and carry but the way in which is is achieved is paramount importance.
maxfirepower 2 weeks ago
@soferntn

GeorgeBonez 1 month ago
@GeorgeBonez You really think America needs to send nukes and kids to die for Israel because of the Bible? I've studied the Bible, I'm Christian. I believe in Jesus. No where does it condone pre-emptive strikes or tactical nukes. Only to God belongeth vengeance and recompence. What would Jesus do? Probably anoint Ron Paul as POTUS. You can't insist we are on the side of the angels and then insist we use the devils tools and tactics to win. Ron Paul 2012. Israel will be fine. They have nukes.
WakingMajority 1 month ago
@WakingMajority What are you talking about? I dont think America should send NUKES to anyone. I dont think America should allow Iran to have nukes in light of their own words and promises to destroy Israel and it has nothing to do with the bible. I wouldnt want Iran to nuke Russia either. WHY do you think that its ok for us to sit back and allow Iran to get a nuke and kill thousands of people for nothing? Instead of attacking me religously maybe you should take another look at Ron Paul
GeorgeBonez 4 weeks ago
@GeorgeBonez You have to look at things from the other guys perspective. American troops on either side of Iran. Iraq and libya have no nukes and what was their fate? We attacked and cause regime change.Pakastan has nukes. Michelle Bachmann in an earlier debate said we can't stop giving money to pakastan because they have nukes and they might fall into the wrong hands. If you were amadinejad what would be your goal? We need to change foriegn policy , not go to war
26whitesox 4 weeks ago
@GeorgeBonez Oh really? So it would have been okay for Russia to invade us in 1944 to stop us from nuking Japan? The west gave Gaddafhi all these incentives not to build nukes.... he complied. Then they killed him. When you are armed, people tend to take you much more seriously. If Iran has a nuclear weapon they won't use it. It would be suicide.
I have, and one of the main reasons I am voting for him is his views on Israel. Humility is a Christian virtue, admit that what we do effects others.

Sorry I will be voting for the "Balanced Constitutional Conservative" Michele Bachmann ok..
GeorgeBonez 1 month ago

Romney can't beat Obama and Gingrich and Bachmann are not even close says me...
railroadtrash09 1 month ago
@railroadtrash09 Yeah I know you dont care for Israel and in fact you MUST HATE them because to allow Iran to have a nuke will certainly cause thousands of Israeli deaths. I hear you when you say that you are against "illegal drugs". Is your answer to this the same as Ron Pauls and simply legalize them so that they are no longer illegal? Yeah I know. You people think you're slick but the fact is you are just sick....
GeorgeBonez 4 weeks ago
@GeorgeBonez Isreal has more nukes than anyone over there, so I have no sympathy for them. I don't hate them as I don't hate any country, but they are big boys and can handle Iran quite easily. In fact, Isreal would strike first. You are concerened with the WRONG ISSUES... Certain states have already decided to regulate marajuana. "What do you mean you people"? eaglejohn323 1 month ago

@TheRealBarnez Theycarry guns now that shoot franigable Bullets. look it up
4everUSNavy 1 month ago
@4everUSNavy Oh okay, I know of tasers being used, but I wasn't aware of bullets that are safe to use on a plane.
TheRealBarnez 1 month ago
@TheRealBarnez It depends on the caliber. I don't know about the newer commerical planes but most can't withstand the depressurization that wold take place if someone unloaded say a .45 but a .22 or possibly a bit higher would surely work, assuming of course you don't shoot a hole in the plane.
CurtIs12367 1 month ago
@CurtIs12367 Thanks. That's interesting to know :)
TheRealBarnez 1 month ago
@TheRealBarnez Yes some bullets are safe on a plane. I don't assume you shoot so you may not be aware, however many ammuntion companies offer bullets that "spread out" or "open up" after being fired to heavily reduce its velocity before impact. These rounds are also usually, undercharged with less powder to prevent them from over-penetrating wooden walls. Unfortunatly people want to ban these rounds becuase they cause "unnessesary body damage"..

chazum0 1 month ago
Lets do a cost analysis of 9/11. If 3 planes carrying 200 people each get hijacked by radical (insert anything,) and each person on the plane had a gun, the worst case scenario would be that the an individual missed a terrorist, 100% of the the time, and each plane crashed (due to loss of cabin pressure.) Then one could stipulate that at least 600 people died, and perhaps a few more on the ground, and some property damage... Way better than 3k lost initially and over 5k military lost just think
asleeperj 1 month ago
@asleeperj But you're not allowed weapons on a plane anyway... to AVOID hijacking.
TheRealBarnez 1 month ago
@asleeperj Definitely agreed. Plus- loss of cabin pressure causing a fatal plane crash due to a bullet hole is a myth that has been debunked. It would make it critical for the pilots to make an emergency landing soon, because people would die due to lack of oxygen, but it would not cause a plane crash.

The 1 A. doesn't say “except speech that infringes on the rights of others”, it just says “freedom of speech”. The text doesn't limit what kind of speech; perjury, libel, etc. are not excluded.
If you can interpret “arms” in 2 A. without limit, then I can interpret “speech” in 1 A. without limit.

@LukasGoettke I am sure what you are asking? Did my first post give you the impression I'm pro gun control? I think if Germany in the 1930's had not disarmed the civilian populace, things may have been different. BTW,I am unaware of which conceal/carry law you are referring to in your other post.
Beeman448 1 month ago
@Beeman448 in fact there is a city in georgia that to become a resident one must own a gun; in that case gun violence more than halfed, and texas saw a decrease in crime when it repealed its concealed carry law. (that only worked because about 50% of the population caried a gun.)

limits the type of weapon to which the right applies to those used by
the militia, i.e., those in common use for lawful purposes.”
Unless you can establish that nukes are commonly found in possession of the people, and they use them for lawful purposes, you would not be able to justify your possession of such a weapon under 2 A.

What kind of 'arms' are meant in the 2 A.? Does it mean nukes, tanks, poison gas, etc.?
The Heller Decision addressed that question, referring to the earlier Miller decision defining the type of 'arms' referred to by the 2 A.
“United States v. Miller, 307 U. S. 174, does not
limit the right to keep and bear arms to militia purposes, but rather
limits the type of weapon to which the right applies to those used by
the militia, i.e., those in common use for lawful purposes.”

So where do you draw the line on the "arms" thing? If you take the 2nd amendment at face value, shouldn't private citizens be allowed to own Nukes?

@bwc3821 Yeah, where's my bazooka?
