I find it really hard to follow the pace notes, wow. Repo does not say the gear of the corners, he just says generic descriptions, like an old school rally game...
It's not that hard to follow. They're a bit like Burns' notes. Normally, flat for 6th gear, easy for 5th gear, fast for 4th gear, medium for 3rd gear, k or 90 for 2nd gear, and hairpin for 1st gear. In this case the car only has 5 gears though.
@SSsacas Right, I do know that no two sets of pace notes are exactly the same, it depends on the co-driver. I played DiRT and it has the numerical system, while Repo's style reminds me of Sega Rally...
It's not that hard to follow. They're a bit like Burns' notes. Normally, flat for 6th gear, easy for 5th gear, fast for 4th gear, medium for 3rd gear, k or bad (90 also) for 2nd gear, and hairpin for 1st gear. In this case the car only has 5 gears though.
Juha Kankkunen will always be one of the best drivers of all time. Even after years in retirement, he hasn't lost the speed that won him 4 world titles.
Good to see Juha Repo calling the notes in exactly the same system and manner as I remember them from 10-12 years ago. A particular wet slippery 1998 Rally Finland onboard comes in mind when they were driving Ford Escort.
1- I tink this car goes to straight to him: they sould give KKK something to go sideways, maybe a Celica!! It's weird seeing him around a corner going that straight!!
2- Why does J Repo says the notes in english??? they are both finnish... acctually sometimes he says something i finnish: he tells "summpuun" sometimes.
@qettyz I am in Canada and there is a motor sports channel that I pay for but as it is from the US it is monster truck, nascar, hillbilly stuff most of the time. I am also not a huge fan of this whole new Ken Block X-games style of rally but it is exposure nonetheless. There are some of the bigger events but it is usually a highIight show. I wait all year for Baja and Dakar with baited breath. Having this WRC channel posting race checkpoints rules!
snuffyboo, ken block is a stunt driver-Mcrae wanna be. Doing silly stunts in abandoned airports is not rallying.Hence why he shouldn't even be allowed in the WRC. His presence in the WRC is an insult to the sport, but Monster Team must've paid a lot of money to the WRC. Face it, the little american boys can NOT rally. Go back to y'all's loud useless Mustangs & y'alls 1/4 mile drags. NASCAR.... what a joke!!
@hkj73 That was a pretty narrow-minded thing to say. So you think that just because Ken Block is famous for his stunt videos means that he can't drive in a rally? He was in WRC for a few rounds and did pretty well but eventually crashed out. But so did Räikkönen and many others. And not all Americans want to do NASCAR and drive Mustangs... retard.
BTW, just because I'm American doesn't mean I'm a fan of Ken Block. But I'm intelligent enough to know that any country can produce a good driver.
@Bristecom Don't insult me, if there's a retard, it is you. Do your homework before running your piehole. block did well? When? Oh I remember, the 20 yards he drove before crashing on the 1st stage of every rally he attempted!! Whatever dude, go get patriotic about somethin else other than losers like block. At least Travis kept his dignity & didn't even think about going out of his league!
@hkj73 Did I not just say that I wasn't a fan of Block? If you even bothered watching the rallies this season, you should remember that he was in the top 10 for Mexico, ahead of other experienced world rally drivers. But saying that drivers from certain countries shouldn't race is incredibly arrogant. The WRC has Indian drivers, African drivers, Asian drivers, Australian drivers, etc. There is no reason it can't have American drivers.
@Bristecom I got no probs with Americans being in the WRC,it is called the WORLD Rally Championship. In fact,I'd love to see U.S car manufacturers attempt the championship.but I have a problem with over-rated wanna-be's being in the WRC.The same way that I believe that Kimi Raikkonen IS over-rated & does not belong in the WRC!! Besides the fact that the WRC have been raving about block as if he's the next best driver in WRC history,& that's cause they've been paid to say so!
@hkj73 Raikkonen overrated? He's performed superbly for someone in his first full year of competitive rallying at top level and despite crashing, he's gradually coming to terms with all of it. Crashing only means he's trying his best and sometimes stepping over the limit. It's inevitable in WRC and as every expert is going to tell you, you need at least a couple of years before you can look for results. It happened even to the very best in rallying history.
@hkj73 hey your right hey is a show man and i really like his style. but do you think he dosent deserve to be there? he is a really good racecar driver. this is his first year give him a break.
Such a treat to see Juha do his thing in a modern rally car. Proof that Juha TODAY could still be competitive and confirming the fact that he's not only one of the greatest of his era but of all time.
They should mount the internal camera directly over where the center console would go in a production car, on the ceiling. That way you might be able to see the instrument cluster and get a better idea of how fast they were going.
Or you could find some coverage from "One HD".
rendezvous65 1 year ago
If you think that Juha is slow(at 50+) just try to beet it, or take Ken block and you still dont beat it! Kankkunen FTW!
