This betta is very similar to my old betta. What your betta has experiened at some point of his life is a disease called 'pop-eye'. Pop eye can be caused ither from trauma (fighting etc) or disease (poor water conditions etc). Treatments for popeye are usually availible from your LFS and by maintaining good water conditions, use of epsom salt may help too. My betta still had his eye but was permanently blind and his eye clouded over.

that betta use to have a disease called "Popeye" when on or both eyes swell up due to poor water conditions or disease and the eye will eventually fall off if it is not treated

Most the betta peepz on you tube wouldn't know a high quality betta if it swam up and beeoch slapped them. I have bunch that i got from best breeder in world and every one of the twenty-three or so are million gazillion infillion times better then this rubbish. A good breeder would of killed this one !

@TheBozmorris yes, so you know cuz apparently you do not, a betta has 500- 1000 fry per spawn, and all top breeders and top show breeders only allow top finest flawless specimens to survive or breed, all flawed or low quality ones like this one are "culled" which means to kill off all but only the finest. the breeder i buy from is best in world and has over hundred thousand fry born every month, and kills all but finest thats only way ensure only the finest are kept bred and sold.

This fish is not rare at all!!!!It is a crowntail betta fish. Its gills are popping out because it is his instinct because he feels threatened so get the camera out of his face and leave im alone!!!! I have a betta fish that does this all the time. His name is Saved because we went to Walmart one day to get some dog food and catfood cartanely not planning on getting any fish because we already had 4 newborn kittens to get rid of not to mention our 2 dogs and female cat. we noticed that there....
